A taste of life

By Administrator | November 1, 2008

Perhaps I am old and cynical but I am beginning to think we are going backwards despite the claims we are moving forward at an accelerated rate.

Think about it how many people actually get to enjoy life anymore? How many jobs are 9 to 5 not many most people are working 2 jobs mostly shift work and those in high paying career positions are no better they are having to wear a pager work overtime and schedule life into their blackberries.

Families do not get to be families they are ships passing in the night. The pace of life has increased and life itself has gone from a banquet to a fast food meal. No saviouring the taste just a bite here and there then onto the next destination.

If those accumulating more would slow down and digest their life experiences maybe those with less might get a chance to eat at the same table.

And is it just me or has the depth and richness gone out of life?
Are we simply skimming the surface until one day we get to the end and it’s too late to go back and grab a bite of all those things we never got to taste?

Here’s some things to ponder:

  • If you cannot make the time perhaps you should take the time
  • If life passes you by you are not going to get it back

And lastly you want to leave this world with a heart full of memories not a pocketful of regrets.

The realities of life

By Robin J | November 1, 2008

What is reality if but a perception a judgment of what we see feel hear? And if this is so does our reality reflect where and who we are at different times of our lives?

My realities were shattered recently revealed for the illusions they were. The child I was having created an alternative reality to cope with the pain of the ‘real’ world then she passed it onto the adult.

I think when we deal with realities we have to tread very carefully because it is very much like the layers of the onion no sooner than you peel back one layer than another appears.

While you may think you have a grasp on what things are and were do you really? An abused wife will create a reality of a husband who really loves her even though love never leaves bruises. An abused child will begin to believe what is happening around them is ‘normal’ the longer is goes on. An alcoholic creates a reality of lies to validate the next drink.

So is what surrounds you real or is it an illusion to keep you safe to keep you from the ‘real’ stuff?

Authentic how can one be authentic without delving into the layers into the perceptions into the heart for answers. We make the mistake of looking at the past with adult eyes instead of child eyes. Child eyes don’t see what we see they don’t analyse they see then make up a reality to keep themselves and their belief their parents love them in tact.

I think we all have a child within that on some level still protects us still makes up stories to protect the beliefs of love and loyalty. A battered wife does not want to believe her partner doesn’t love her or want to take the risk of losing that love.

I am not sure there is something called reality at least not a concrete thing that applies to all. I am positive two people will be in the same room doing the same thing and still see things differently. I do however believe we create illusions beliefs that confirm we are loved protected cared for valued. I speak from experience so I can understand why people hold onto the illusion because just like the onion when you start peeling back the layers and seeing what’s underneath there is going to be a lot of pain and crying.

Is reality merely a set of beliefs if it is an apple to you and a pear to me is it a perception that separates us?

I don’t know maybe life is one big illusion we will someday wake up from. Is it necessary to understand the patterns we weave to create our destiny the illusions beliefs and words through the years?

More importantly are the beliefs we hold to protect us to assure us we are loved and valued really doing anything than being barriers to a life of depth and understanding?

I wish I knew but here is something ot contemplate

Think about it…..

I believe

By Robin J | October 30, 2008

Our contemplation for today is what do we believe to be true about our world….with all the media coverage focusing on the violence the despair the destructiveness are we losing hope in miracles in the goodness of the human soul?

Are we creating our own realities?

Do you hold within your heart a deep knowing that this is indeed a wonderful world or do you think the world is out to get you that there is no escaping the sadness and chaos?

Here is something to ponder without the complex thinking processes of us ‘adults’ children see a world of wonder a world of beauty a world of love of passion and excitement.

Maybe we have gotten too much into the habit of thinking and forgotten how to just be. The world is how it has always been beautiful abundant and glorious. Humans on the otherhand have changed dramatically or technology has taken us out of the moment and projected us into the future.

We are attached to the mobile phone waiing for the next call we are looking for the next email….or alternatively we are so plugged in to some gadget or another we have desensitized ourselves to the world. We have lost the ability to touch feel hear smell see sense the world around us. That is the difference between and adult and a child.

How do you see your world?

Is it a beautiful place of abundance or a miserable cold lonely place of pain and misery?

Ask yourself is it the world that is like this or am I merely projecting my own fears doubts beliefs into the universe and seeing what I believe is there? Creating my own illusion so to speak?

Anne Frank: In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death.

Just in case you have forgotten

There is a time to smell the roses

a time to take of your shoes and splash in the puddles

a time to look for the blessings in your life

a time to see the beauty in the eyes of those you love

There is a time to see the world as the beautiful divine creation it is and that time is now

What place has the past?

By Robin J | September 21, 2008

What place has the past in our lives? Some believe you cannot move on until you have done the work of understanding your past. Others believe you have to let go of your past rather than rehashing what has been and gone.

It has always been something which has confused me which is go back and have therapy to work through it all or let go and let God and move on? I am not sure.

Are there things I don’t understand about my past my heritage family patterns absolutely is it necessary to find out what they are I am not so sure. Is there a benefit to bringing the past up?

There are various schools of thought I am not really up to date enough to voice an opinion on any of them. I can only speak of the confusion I feel around the subject. One minute I feel like I need to drag the past up and wade through it for answers the next minute I want to let it go and live only for the moment I am in.

Does the past impact the present or can we walk away from it without any side effects if we chose to do so? I often wonder whether I use the past as a convenient excuse not to step into the future a get out of jail free card. And if I am the only one controlling my thoughts can what happened all those years ago really have as much power as I think it has or simple as much power as I give it?

I do not know do you?

Wish upon a star

By Robin J | September 8, 2008

I hope to win lotto one day I don’t really believe I am going to but I hope I do. I hope Oprah will ring me next week with a book deal I am not confident it will happen but I hope it will.

I know abundance will come if I am patient and do the work. I know my book will get published when I have the skills to fine tune it and the courage to submit it.

I wonder which paragraph carries the most power?

I use to wish upon a falling star not really believing anything would happen but there is a certain magic in hoping it would.

So here is the contemplation if you are hoping something will come true or hoping for a brighter future is this manifestation or self sabotage? If you are looking for something or someone outside of yourself to provide what you need are you manifesting or simply giving away your power?

And is holding hope in your heart the same thing as having faith? Is one a might and the other a will?

Well I can only hope you understand some of what I am getting at but I have faith in your ability to do so…..

Life in the fast lane

By Robin J | September 2, 2008

Sometimes following taking the road less traveled means you are going to come across exits to the fast lane and it is going to be very tempting to veer off if it means getting to where you want to be quicker.

But have you ever noticed the car that speeds past you in such a hurry to get to where ever they are going gains perhaps five minutes tops and when they pull in for gas you putter past them and then the whole scenario is played out again.

Ghandi said ‘there is more to life than increasing it’s speed.’ So is it true slow and steady wins the race and was the turtle really onto something or simply on something?

Do we give up or in too easily do we take the highway instead of the scenic route because we know the pot of gold is at the end and we cannot wait a moment more to have it?

All I know is when I am in tune with my higher self (I won’t even call it that because it implies some attainment of superiority) When I am in tune with my greatness my divinity the light of soul time is of little relevance. In this moment there are is only sychronicity between purpose and person.

Do we need anything on this journey of life and does it matter which road we take if we always end up where we are meant to be anyway?

Some might say a smart person will take the fast lane because it enables them to enjoy the spoils of success quicker. Others may say the true meaning in life is found in the journey not the destination. So which is right or are they both right?

I don’t know maybe it is the signs along the way we should be looking for because as the man said ‘I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference.’

Lifes contemplations~Thinking too much

By Robin J | August 27, 2008

You think too much! How many of us have heard that before..I expect all the virgoes and quite a few gemini’s and perhaps it is true.

Do we overthink stay in our head instead of our heart or is there a balance between the two? Can you truly be in the moment and in your head at the same time I don’t think so.

And how do we make sense of our world if we don’t think about things? Or maybe we don’t need to think about life but live it.

I am not sure I do know we humans have a way of overcomplicating and over intellectuallizing things that were simple to begin with. Ever had one of those moments where a child walks up and says in very basic terms what the adults had been trying to fathom for hours?

Some suggest becoming a master of your thoughts rather than a slave….I must live in a commune because mine come and go as they please.

I wonder though the wisdom of new age thinking (you can laugh at the irony of that statement if you wish) which would have us believe no thoughts are the true indication of an enlightened being. Personally my I use my ego voice as an alarm system when it starts going off in my head I know I am out of balance with my world.

It’s the old need to know thing the unknown is a scary place you can’t control what happens there.

I know Creator must have had a reason to give us ego minds in the beginning maybe he/she thought we would get lonely without someone to fight with or talk too!

My most peaceful moments are when I am not thinking when I am not analysing when I am not contemplating when I am simply being. Is the ego mind really necessary?

I don’t know I will have to go off and think about it…..

Spiritual Elite

By Robin J | August 17, 2008

I am going to jump right up on the soapbox here are we at risk of becoming the spiritual elite?

Is the new spiritual movement setting itself up as a separate entity?

I know when I tell people I am a psychic they assume I have this great intellectual knowledge of all things spiritual. Which for the record I don’t sometimes too much knowledge makes you prone to make lots of assumptions and have expectations.

So is there a spiritual elite? Do you have to meet a set criteria to be accepted in the new spiritual communities developing?

Can anyone join?

Go to any body mind and soul expo and every year 50 new experts will have popped up with promises of the key the way or the secret.

Is there such a thing as a simple answer to a simple question anymore? Or has the material world poked it’s toe in the New Age door creating experts in 30 days and guru’s in 60.

I do not know I doubt very much though you will go unnoticed if you walk in to a spiritual workshop with the lastest Mills and Boons and a big mac.

Maybe us New Age folk are too uptight taking this whole enlightenment thing a tad too seriously or getting a bit too full of our own….well you know what I mean.

Anyway I am off to jump in puddles and eat ice cream but please stay and contemplate the meaning of life for as long as you want….
