Rockefeller Center tree lighting in Dec 2008 !!

Well another holiday season has come !!! Celebrations, decorations, sales and everything is on !! But what is most special about the Christmas time would be the Rockefeller center tree and this time it is a 72-foot tall Norway spruce of the grounds of Tree King nursery in Hamilton, which is owned by the Varanyak family. The 8-ton tree will be erected over the ice rink on Friday November 14th. 
Fergie did the honours of unveiling the Swarovski Star, which will adorn the Rockefeller Christmas tree. The 33-year-old Fergalicious singer unveiled the 550-pound, 9.5-foot star, made of 25,000 crystals which will be set atop the giant X-mas tree.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be lit for the first time this holiday season on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008. It has been attracting so many tourists worldwide. 
The line-up of performers will be announced soon and the whole star-studded spectacle will be broadcast live on NBC from 8PM to 9PM. The tree will be lit at 8.55pm.

You can also see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree from 5:30AM to 11:30PM daily from December 3rd, 2008 through January 9th, 2009 (and all day long on Christmas Day).

Extreme Makeover with Ty Pennington !!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition,had boxing legends Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman and ESPN Anchors John Saunders and Brian Kenny make guest appearances in this week's episode. Ty Pennington and his team travel to Geneva, NY to help the Hill family who lives in a 200 year-old farm house, where they run a boxing gym for underprivileged teens. Tim Hill was an aspiring boxer, but his career ended when he broke his back working on a construction site. Since he could no longer box, Tim went back to college for a degree in social work. After college, he worked as a high school counselor.
Tim came up with the idea for the Geneva Boxing Team. For the past ten years, Tim has been training kids for free from eight years old up to twenty-one years old. Tim covers all the training expenses himself, and he has trained three Olympic hopefuls. That is simply great. Tim even has custody over one of the boxers he is training. Aleem Whitfield came from a family with twenty-three children, and he is now an Olympic hopeful. Tim also has three children of his own with his wife Michelle.
Ty Pennington, his design team, local builder Mahoney Design & Build Inc. and hundreds of volunteers will work to rebuild the Hill family’s 200 year old farm house, complete with a small boxing gym. The design team includes Michael Moloney, Ed Sanders, John Littlefield and Didiayer Snyder.

Museum of Art and design has reopened !!

The Museum of Arts and Design is celebrating the opening of its new fancy building on Columbus Circle this weekend. Well it is also free admission to the public. The new building increased the MAD’s total space by threefold and doubled the gallery space that was previously available to the museum at its former location on 53rd Street. Now it is a prime spot at the center of the south side of the Circle with ribbons of glass along its exterior that allow natural light to illuminate the galleries while those inside have a clear view of Central Park.
The first featured exhibition at the new location is Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary, which has works from over 50 artists who have taken mass-produced items and reimagined them as works of grandeur. Repurposing items from eyeglasses to high heels, the exhibit demonstrates how we can find beauty and a creative spark in the most mundane of objects.
