Diet pills, diet pills, hey, did I mention DIET PILLS?!

November 23, 2008

So you know, I always wondered what the Best diet pills were, I mean, I’ve been to many local places where they sell stuff like that, but I’ve never seen anything that actually works. I see all the adverts about how celebrities are able to look good just because they take one little pill. The thing is that celebrities walk around a lot, so they actually do technically do a lot of exercise by just running away from the photographers. Maybe I’m just looking far into it, but yeah, they go running all the time, you see them slapping fans and whatnot! Yeah, you can tell I’m just rambling on now.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading these Diet pill reviews and they kinda scared me, I don’t know if it’s just the fact I hate pills and that I’d rather lose the weight by myself (which I am by the way!), or I’m just being paranoid, I haven’t a clue really. I remember these infomercials that came on a couple of years ago about cream that made you thinner, I thought that was pretty funny, gave me a laugh about how you’d rub this stuff on you, put a piece of plastic on and you’d lose a little bit of inches for a couple of hours.

But yeah, Diet pills that work, I haven’t seen any as of yet, nor am I planning on taking any. My mom used to go into those stores and all these guys would offer her some crazy stuff and it was just horrible because it’s just not a really cheap thing to buy, you know, sixty bucks a bottle for something that may or may not be working? I mean, come on, that’s a little bit too much now, wouldn’t you think so?

I’m tired now, I need a nap!

Stuck at school, might as well write something in here

November 22, 2008

Since I’ve pretty much been sitting here for two hours waiting for someone to pick me up, I might as well make the most of it and just start blogging. It’s so annoying that my dad decided it’d be okay to just start working Saturdays and then he doesn’t tell them I go to school at the same time.

So I watched this documentary on the guy who founded Atlantic Records, now that was a story! It’s amazing to see how most of the people that are big in the music industry don’t even have the support of their families. I was very amazed to see that a lot of the greatest songs ever made were all written by him for his artists, not only that, but he cared so much for them aswell.

I would really like to own my own record label and be someone as influencial as him, many of those artists had so many great things to say about him. Too bad he isn’t around anymore, but he’s left a lot of him behind, and a really nice story!

Twilight is nothing to get excited over

November 21, 2008

I hate the fact that people have forgotten about Harry Potter at this point and are now raving about this stupid movie that will probably not be remembered in five years to come. The fact is that the only reason why it’s going to be a hit is because of Robert Pattinson, and of course, no one wants to say they’re a Harry Potter fan anymore and they’re all slating it at this point, I hate the lot of you. You all remind of the people who kept going on about The Lord of the Rings, what’s with that now, eh? Harry Potter still lives on, even after a decade after being first released. There’s definitely still a whole load of profit that comes from it aswell, even the lawsuits continue to rise and be fought.

For me, Harry Potter brought me a lot, it brought me a group of friends who I still love dearly and chat to every single day, it brought me love, it brought me scandal, and it took me to places I never knew existed. Maybe my whole obsession with Daniel Radcliffe wasn’t the most ideal (let’s face it, none of us were ever going to get him), but I got into the stuff he liked at the time, especially the music. While doing all these websites, it brought me close to that guy I speak about from time to time here, and he was the one who basically talked me into listening to the UK Top 40 with him. It was so weird at the time, but radio became a favorite pastime soon after. We were all so young, yet we were able to grow into adults together, and that for me is very special.

There’s this other guy who was pretty big in the community too, and midway in he got into some family trouble and ran away. He told me everything that was going on, about how he just became a brother and that his parents weren’t really paying any attention to him and he just about gave up all hope. I remember telling him that I was his friend, and he was really happy about that. However, we soon lost contact until recently and now he’s a politician, that’s so crazy! My co-webmaster and I had these arguments with him and another famous webmaster at the time, and it was all down to the fanbase we had, and well, what can I say? I ended up doing pretty well for myself back then, and I continue to get stronger and stronger. I know Emerson will go down in history for being the most publicized, but his fame will soon fade away because he’s nothing more than the fan who was able to profit the most out of the fanbase. There are so many staff members of MuggleNet, some who I knew before they joined. I’m not going to say much of them, because I know they do a lot for that site, but I think they wanted the fame more than anything else. I only believe that because so many people wanted to be a part of that team so bad, thinking that they’d get something out of it.

I’ve certainly met some amazing people from this whole phenomenon though, one guy who we petitioned to get the part as Cedric, another who was an extra who is now a professional web designer and does plays and films,  the best  group of friends I could ever have, and a better view of the world around me and not just in front of me. I have appreciated all the people I worked with over the years, including some of which were important in the Harry Potter films, and I have received autographs and letters that are priceless to me and I will cherish them forever. J.K.Rowling brought us together, and it’s not something that can be accomplished by anything else. Not the government, not High School Musical, not even Twilight can be as significant as Harry Potter was in our generation’s lives. While I may not accept some of the views of Christopher Little Literary Agency, I have to thank them for taking a woman’s idea and making it available for all of us to read, I am very grateful for it all!

Doctors, they aren’t the same anymore…

November 20, 2008

Growing up in the nineties differs so much from 2000 onwards, really it does. I remember having a woman doctor and she was my doctor almost all my life until she left her office around 1999. After that, I as without a doctor for awhile, but it’s a good thing I wasn’t getting sick on a every other month basis. When my brother was born in 2002, we then started to see another doctor, but we had to leave her due to the fact that our new insurance wouldn’t cover any of our checkups with her.

Now my new doctors, well, when I go see them, it’s like visiting The Wiggles or even Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow. It wouldn’t really surprise me if they first started out as drama students in university but then got slated by their peers and ending up falling back on their minor as doctors and dentists. At least they’re not surgeons though, imagine ”Wake Up Jeff!” taking your heart out and falling asleep during it, what a nightmare! I remember having this anesthesiologist who looked like Kenneth Branagh, I had never felt so sick after surgery, he overdid it and it took like a week for me to get over it.

So are all of the newer doctors like this nowadays? I guess it’s nice for the kids, but even the staff of people who are supposed to be putting new braces on me and do surgery (whenever I’m able to pay for it) are too jubilant. The dentist today was even like, “Oh my gosh, did you hear all the gossip about that football player?!” not his exact words, but I could totally see that happening!

Wow, just wow!

November 19, 2008

This morning, I listened to Pulp’s “Different Class” because I just happened to listen to five on their Hits album and then the other day a track on Last.fm, so I had already gone through half the album, so why not? For the most part, I would never let my parents listen to any of their stuff, maybe “Common People”, “Disco 2000″, and the songs Jarvis Cocker did for the Harry Potter movie, plus his new stuff, but the Pulp songs are so dark and gloomy, and they’re always about him not getting any companionship in that sort of way.

What I’m trying to say is that Pulp isn’t like Oasis and Blur, and I can certainly see why they didn’t top the charts (well, most of the singles, their albums did very well). All their songs are about the same thing too, either getting up to no good or encounters. It’s a good album though, definitely not as good as “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” which came out around the same time and even that went back and forth into the number one place.

And on a general note, I’ve listened to Ash, Boo Radleys, The Divine Comedy, Ocean Colour Scene, and Supergrass, who all have pretty happy tracks which I’ve associated with the whole Britpop sound. There wasn’t really any band that I’ve listened to as yet that have that depressing sound that Pulp brought to the scene at the time. One day I’ll catch up with it all though, I just need to listen to a couple more artists (and I’m referring to the early 90’s, not the stuff that came after Coldplay), I kinda wish I had gotten into British radio earlier. I really thought I knew music pretty well, but if you look at the Now That’s What I Call Music! series CDs, you can really tell a difference. For example, here’s the US debut and the UK version that was out at the same time:

It might not be the best way to compare and contrast, but it does show you that the two countries have a very different view on music, even now with the downloads going on.

What’s with all this dance music?

November 18, 2008

Really, what is it with all this dance music out at the moment? It seems that America has this trend at the moment where every song has to have some sort of beat to it. I can at least name about ten songs that meet the qualities:

Womanizer - Britney Spears
Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf Featuring Lil Wayne
Right Now (Na Na Na) - Akon
Disturbia - Rihanna
Just Dance - Lady GaGa Featuring Colby O’Donis
Closer - Ne-Yo
Keeps Gettin’ Better - Christina Aguilera
Green Light - John Legend Featuring Andre 3000
Forever - Chris Brown
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - Beyonce

Some of these songs have been out for awhile, but I didn’t really notice it ll until I was in the car with my dad that one night we had to go to school and didn’t come back until 3 AM. You know, there was a time when we had all these great dance records; Sarina Paris, Gigi D’Agostino, and Madison Avenue are some of my favorites, but none of them were American and they actually didn’t do all that great. They would fit greatly in the whole “dance craze” we have at the moment though. I don’t like the Akon song much as a track on its own, but the piano version was beautiful, I really like “Just Dance” too. John Legend though, I don’t know, I really liked his old stuff, he doesn’t need to be making pop music.

Ne-Yo just doesn’t sound the same anymore either, him and Chris Brown are sounding more alike now, at least with their latest material. I don’t like the whole double act Beyonce is doing either, it’s kiddish and stupid at the same time, “Oh look at me, I have this silver thing on my hand, buy my records!”

I have nothing else to say, except that yes, we seem to be going through some sort of phase here.

I’m just happy whenever he comes along

November 17, 2008

I’ve got to the point that I’m not at all excited about seeing my friend anymore, I don’t get that giddy girly feeling nor do I feel happy. I don’t know if it’s that I don’t like him much anymore, or that we kinda are able to talk to each other on a daily basis now that we’re in college. He still remains my little diary though, I love how my diary can speak back to me, aww.

Then five minutes later I’m all smiley and happy again, it’s weird how you can go from feeling different things in the matter of minutes. I know right afterwards I’ll have this big grin on my face that it almost looks like those Enzyte commercials with Bob, although of course, it’s not going to be for the same reasons he’s smiling about! I can’t wait until Christmas though, we just both seem to be in a very good mood for two weeks.

Shucks, already got to the grinning point, don’t really care about the parents arguing in the living room now, I’m too happy at the moment.

My mother’s at it again

November 16, 2008

I hate the fact that my mother always tells me I’m the reason why she and my father argue a lot, for once I wish she’d blame the fact that she’s so addicted to pain killers and the lot that it’s taking over her life. I think the worst memory I’ll ever have is the night of my graduation party, which turned out to be a mess by the way because I ran out when they brought these idiots to play. She was just using me so she could have a good time, when you have a party like that, invite MY friends, not the whole family that includes people that I can’t stand.

Anyway, after that stupid party and everyone went home, she decided, oh, I’m not going to bed, I’m going to argue all night and be abusive to my daughter. She kept hitting me, calling me a dog, and that she was going to kill me; she kept telling my dad that I wasn’t her daughter and that I was a mistake, and that I was stupid and whatnot. There were some things thrown at me, some glasses and rose pedals thrown all over the place. She tends to blame all her problems on me.

It’s one of those reasons I sleep throughout the day, I don’t want to deal with that all day, and it’s not like I can just leave, my dad won’t let me. I’ll tell you though, there wasn’t a time that I’ve gone to college where I haven’t felt like walking off and leave them there looking for me. But then I think of how we could actually throw about a one million dollar reward out (because of my grandma) and I’d be found immediately, so it isn’t actually ethical for me to do that because I’d be wasting her money.

I’ve been living like this for the past six years now, it affected my last year of middle school and first year of high school pretty badly. I wasn’t able to go to school most of the time because my dad couldn’t take me because she used to beg him to stay home, I noticed that my health soon started declining the years that followed and I became weaker. So I really had the year before all that, I was really happy then, but for the most part, my life has been pretty bitter since then. I remember just sitting in bed and crying for two hours before falling asleep, nowadays I just don’t care, or at least I’m trying to not care.

Today she got mad at me because I said I didn’t hear her when she told me to get up, she said she couldn’t do everything when it was convenient for me. I’ve been getting that a lot lately.

Reminiscing my childhood television watching at early hours of the night

November 15, 2008

I didn’t go to school today because I was feeling kinda icky still, but oh well, I was really tired anyway. I spent all night looking at YouTube videos again, I can’t believe every episode of Garfield and Friends is on there. I knew about the title sequences changing three times, but I had never seen them, the rap one is horrible by the way! I’m really glad they replaced them both for the final one, it just seems to fit a lot better. They used to show this on Cartoon Network all the time (even the little announcer screens were cool with the paw prints, I think there was a purple and white checkered background too?), but then anime ruined that channel and in 1999 Toonami replaced a wide selection of those old shows.

There was a time when that channel was great to watch at three in the morning with my friends when my parents were at their house getting drunk with their parents and we would just sit there in her room and watch Gumby, Popeye, and some of those shows that were around in the 50’s and 70’s. All the best stuff was after two in the morning, and it didn’t stop until about nine, so we were always entertained until the party stopped at six and everyone started to sober up. I think what really damaged that channel was when they decided to take those The What a Cartoon! characters in make multiple shows out of them, a lot of them became classics, but Hanna-Barbera ultimately has made the ones that have lasted a whole line of generations.

For the most part though, I think the channel is struggling with the fact that Nickelodeon and Disney have both been the main channels for a long time now. I bet you that most people just look at it as a syndicated channel because that’s what it has really become. The last time I checked, they were showing Family Guy and Futurama, and I’m starting to strongly believe that it’s where all the Nickelodeon rejects go because you now have that guy who made Rocko’s Modern Life doing stuff for them. That was a great cartoon though, shame it had to be like every other Nickelodeon pre-Spongebob show and cause some controversy. If that’s one thing that is going to bring that channel down is the fact that they tend to have to edit at least one bit of a show out after showing it at least three times.

But yeah, the whole anime craze kinda ruined Cartoon Network, they thought “Oh, lets put this on and we’ll dominate all the cartoon channels” and everybody thought the same way and so nothing really came out of it. I know there were some people watching it, but only a few did after a year or so. I’m not going to say all of it was violent, but for the most part, it shouldn’t have been put on Cartoon Network. For me, I only liked the animation and from time to time I still like drawing in that style, but I don’t like any of the shows and I’ve seen a handful. I prefer the whole line of Sanrio stuff that came over here, it’s cute, not dangerous, and hey, everyone loves Hello Kitty!

I do have to say that Boomerang is a nice little channel though, it might be a little bit repetitive at the moment, but it does keep a good mixture of the old stuff that I like and some of the cartoons that came out when I stopped watching (which was when they started taking off Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and those three episode cartoons). I know there’s a Nickelodeon channel like that aswell, and I’ve heard people at school talking about it saying they can finally understand all the nasty jokes now that they’re older, but I haven’t seen it yet.

Wow, I just realized how sad this post actually is, this is why I don’t like being able to go on YouTube on my iPhone at night and just look around while I try and fall asleep. You end up looking through so many videos realizing that it’s already five in the morning and you gotta be up in a hour.

Chika chika chicken!

November 14, 2008

Just as I start to feel better my stomach starts to mess with me, what’s up with that? At least my phone is finally activated and it’s amazing the options we have now. I got the free mobile-to-mobile package and now can call internationally!

So, been sleeping all day as usual. Yesterday we had to record voiceovers and of course, no one wanted to go first, so I went and put in my full effort. It was hilarious, it was some resturant advert and we had to do chicken noises. People were so annoyed by it, but I just did it anyway. At least I did it in one take!

Afterwards I had to record the next person because no one else wanted to do it yet. It feels just as if I were back in high school all over again!
