What is group blogging?

What is group blogging? This question is answered in newly published article group blogging introduction, article I should have published first, not after others, but as they say: it's never too late.

This article is just small part of Group Blogging Project e-book, something that occupies me for some time now and theme I like to explore. Other finished and published articles in this projects you might find interesting are:

- Tutors and students in group blogging
- Blogging in pairs
- Complementary blogging

Two new articles are on their way (they are already written) and should be published in next couple of days: group blogging advantages and group blogging and social web services. One more after that will close one book part and then on to the next part. Very ambitious of me.

Subscribe via email or reader if you wanna stay updated!

The Wall is stronger than my head

Online experience can be fun with all those games, interesting blogs, communities, videos and all kind of miracles, waiting there, just a click away. But I have learned how web life also has its dark sides and some of them can be very dangerous.

When I found out how blogging can be profitable I thought it’s a piece of cake to be a blogger and if I can cash in my hobby, it just can’t get any better. I was wrong.

Posting for myself is easy and fun. I don’t have deadlines, I write whatever is on my mind, I don’t care if anyone reads my stuff. Blogging for money is different story. First, you had to write more often and more under pressure to have new content every day and very soon, blogging becomes occupation, a job, not a hobby any more.

Statistics become everything. How many visits, how many comments, get new backlinks, read more blogs and so on. In a short period of time I found myself completely different person. I was not writing about interesting stuff, but top 10 lists and stupid Britney Spears rumors. I become stat-addict, checking those numbers like a lunatic every 15 minutes.

But nothing happened. I didn’t make big money, just a few bucks and I realized I can’t brake the wall with my head. It is that simple. If something doesn’t work, drop it!

Now I’m happy again with my blogging. I don’t try to become problogger, I write for the fun of it. I have new interests and time to explore them and that’s something I didn’t have in my stat-addicts days.

Group Blogging Projects Niche

In group blogging projects contributors are often same forum members or some web social network members and this is easiest way to find similar minded people for project. If we consider how group blogging projects are created we can see same patterns equal to those in real world. Predefined niche of group blogging project is also possibility. It can be anything from make money online project, art and crafts subject to programming and web design.

One idea I had in mind was more of social experiment. Authors should express their own point of view on subjects like environment, future, war, culture issues and everyday life. Project would include 6 authors each one based on different continent Europe, Asia, South and North America, Africa and Australia. Posts schedule would be one week for one subject, each day another author and conclusion post on Sunday.

Does this sounds interesting to you? What would it take for you to participate in such group blogging project? Do you have any ideas for group blogging project niche?
