Philippines in the 2008 Beijing Olympics Medal Standing
So far, it’s 0-0-0 for the Philippines. We’ve lost in all the other sports we’ve taken part of, while China and the USA are breezing it through like they own the sporting world. The Taekwondo jins are our last medal hopes. They will fight for gold and glory beginning August 20, 2008, with Tshomlee Go battling it out with Ryan Carnelli of Australia.
Here’s the updated medal standings for the 2008 Beijing Olympics leading nations as of today.
The table updates itself everytime you visit here. As of today, our fiercest rivals in the SEA games are doing well, with Indonesia garnering more medals.
Indonesia 35th place – 1 Gold in Badminton, 1 silver in Badminton, 1 bronze in Badminton and 2 bronzes in Weightlifting
Thailand 38th place – 1 Gold in weightlifting, 1 silver in Taekwondo
Malaysia 60th place – 1 silver in badminton.
What is wrong with Philippine sports? That is not for me to answer. I am sure that our sports officials will have a lot of soul-searching to do when they get home empty-handed.
Update on the Taekwondo jins in the Beijing Olympics : Tshomlee Go lost to Ryan Carneli in a score of 0:1. Only Mary Antoinette Rivero is left on the quest for medal.
