If there was ever a site that says ‘instant success’, letmegooglethatforyou.com is just that site. This site is going to be huge and worth a small fortune. Simple idea, simple site with a really clever angle.

Quite simply, you enter search terms, hit go and the site will churn out a link for you. Click on that link and you’ll see the google homepage, a curser moving and clicking on the textbox and the search terms being entered.
Finally, it re-directs you to the actual google page for those terms. This site is ingenius and has already become an instant hit with techy people.
Let’s take an example… you’re gonna play the person that’s too lazy and busy to find information for themselves. So naturally enough you come to me and ask me to do your work for you for free… pre-letmegooglethatforyou.com, i would just tell you to google your problem.
Now however, i can of course answer your question.
So when somebody asks a stupid question or is too lazy to google it themselves, you can send them a link like the one above. Sarcastic, useful and completely burns anyone who asks stupid questions. I love it

A while back, Google wanted to buy digg. No big surprise, we all knew why… digg’s community is a shining example of how people will work for nothing online if they get some form of ‘power’ or recognition.
Google had been testing digg like search results pages and now i’ve noticed they’ve been made official (once you login to a google account). I spoke very highly of scour a few months ago as i believe this is the way forward and this WILL be the future of news and search.

Scour don’t have the clout of Google so that’s why it didn’t take off, but the idea was right and it’s still a very useful site. It’ll be interesting to see how these new ‘digg’ and ‘bury’ functions effect search results, if they do at all…
SEO as we know it, could literally have died today a sudden death however i suspect Google aren’t so stupid as to put major emphasis on the amount of diggs or burys as that system would be wise open to abuse and spam.
But one things for sure - Google has now become much more complicated and if these functions are given some sort of wieght when it comes to SEO, it could well end up being a much fairer system as users would ultimately decided what’s hot and what’s not.
Those spam sites and landing pages ranking highly for competitive keywords may just be getting a little hot under the collar

In school years ago, we had some photographer come in to try and teach us about media/photography. I can’t remember who he was and the actual speech / teaching wasn’t great, but i’ll always remember one line, “A good photograhper will always want just one more shot”.
What he was trying to say was that the best of the best are never happy with what they have - they always want more, they’ll never be happy to settle for less. I find myself in that situation a lot of the time…. always wanting more time and NEVER happy with what i have. If i am happy with something i’m probably lying

A fine example is this video project i’m just after finishing last night (well, version 1 of 2 or 3). Roughly 100 hours of work i reckon. Massive task, steep learning curve, virtually impossible to get professional results for 30 minutes solid and this being your first major video project.
The end result is pretty good… hopefully i’ll be uploading over the next week or so for feedback (this is v1, with v2 to come in early December). But despite it looking good and being pretty well received by those who’ve seen it, i’m still not happy with it… i’m not even happy with the best bits in it as i’m always thinking of ways to make it look better.
At this stage, a lot of the stuff i’m thinking about is way out of my league as i’ve a budget of nothing, a team of one and limited amounts of time
The ‘keep it simple’ motto would have made this task a lot easier for me and probably shaved that 100 hours in half if not more.
But my hunger for ‘more’ and more on top of more has resulted in this mammonth undertaking which is still ongoing and is far from simple
It will never be finished in my eyes, i’ll just have to make do with imperfections i can see but that nobody else may pick up on. In order to get things done and move on, sometimes you just have to sever ties and ditch a wieght that’s holding you back. I could literally spend the rest of my life trying to perfect this one video and i’d still be wanting more

I always love having projects to do by a set date. It means things get done and you can bury them after wards. Each and every project i do gives me the same sense of satisfaction after i complete it. If it’s one big massive project, like my 30 minute video project for example, i’ll break it up in to smaller deadlines for myself.
That’s the only way i can get through work and get results. Along with my own deadlines, we have group deadlines which makes things even more organized. Finally we have the actual class / college deadlines. So all in all, a three tiered deadline system to keep me on track.
It’s meant that i’ve;
- been able to produce a pretty consistent, respectable, solid video for 30 minutes.
- not assigned too much time to too little of the project (something we all tend to do).
- got things done on time.
The college deadline for this project is still over 2 weeks away yet i could hand something in tomorrow if need be - that’s the stage we’re at. For the next 2 weeks i’ll simply be fine tuning as much as possible and trying to add in one or two little bits of magic.
On Thursday, i’ll be bringing in a demo of the video in to class and we’ll get feedback and take it on board. Once this video project is submitted, it’ll give me tonnes of ammunition for blog posts as i’ve deliberately kept it secret up until now. I can’t wait to upload the final version to youtube and let the world comment…. it’s probably the most over the top and ridiculous version of the Dragon’s Den you’ll ever see and i know for a fact there’ll be plenty of ‘boy do you guys have too much time on your hands’ type comments

I’m now closing in on no.1 spot in a competition to find out who ireland’s top SEO is. It’s been a real battle so far with the top 5 seemingly unbreakable… that is until today when my very own Geansai Gorm site has smashed that trend and come in at 5th spot in google.ie or more importantly 4th in this competition overall.

4th is not bad. Not bad at all. Were this thing to finish right now, i could claim to be the 4th best SEO in the country
In reality, i’d never claim that though as i need more experience and records to my name in order to ‘prove’ myself worthy of being labeled a top SEO.
I’ll be very happy if i can break in to the top 3 and if i can win this, it’ll be a massive notch on my belt with this being my very first SEO competition
Unlike the rest, i’m not playing this down publicly whilst fighting fiercely behind the scenes…. make no bones about it - i set out to win this from the moment i heard about it and i’ll be battling right up until the last hour for no.1 spot.
If i was to play this down and use this as a 100% experimental site, i can guarantee i would not be ranked 4th now. I know what SEO is, what it involves and how to go about it… as i’ve said before the only thing stopping me or any of the top 10/15 results from grabbing no.1 spot is workrate and workrate alone.
I’ve moved up steadily over the past couple of weeks and have yet to go DOWN a place in google for 24 hours or more… i’ve always been on the up. That’s a good sign and it’s also a good sign i’m apparantly after knocking one of the steady eddie’s out of the running.
3 more sites to beat and this is mine, all mine
