The temperature has dropped here and it is even cold inside our house. I hate to turn the heat up because that just costs even more money. I was thinking of installing one of those material handling vinyl strip doors so that I could put a small heater in one room and block the cold air from another area of the housed (there is no door). But then I thought that it might look silly!

Don’t be afraid to do online searches for new jobs. Some of the big sites, even allow you to post your resume so that a potential employer might find you. There are some web sites that are geared specifically for certain types of jobs such as accounting jobs, IT jobs and service jobs.
I find that it is best to always be looking to see what is out there. In this economy, it is hard to know when and if you may be laid off from your present job. Get to know the different online job search places, such as Monster, Hot Jobs and Career Builder. A Google search for key words in your field can also turn up opportunities. Also, don’t forget about the employment section on individual company web pages.
It was a very busy holiday here at The Shopping Duck’s house. The baby ducklings were all a flutter opening up their Christmas presents. Fortunately, everyone was happy with the gifts they received. We then headed to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for food and more presents!

- Cash - Everyone can always use the green stuff. Find a nice card with a cash holding slot.
- Charity - Contribute to a charity in their name. This is a great gift for the person who says that they don’t want anything.
- Magazine Subscription - Woodworking, crafts, sports, there is a magazine for almost every hobby and interest. These can be order at the very last minute. Just print out a picture of the magazine and put it in a card.
- Food - Costso and Sam’s Club always have nice selection of pre-packaged food gifts. Or make up your own with a theme they would enjoy.
- Gift Basket - Pick a theme, movies, romantic, cooking, etc. and fill a basket with related items. Just don’t pick a theme like weight loss with weight loss pills included, that could be a little insulting.
- Gift Certificates - Almost every store has gift certificates now. Restaurant ones are some of my favorites.
What are you having for Christmas Dinner? When I was growing up we usually had ham or turkey, mashed potatoes, monkey bread, vegetables and pies. Now that I am married to an Italian, we have lasagna for Christmas Dinner. My husband’s parents always put on a good spread. So much so that I need to read Lipovox reviews and start a new diet plan the following day!

Every year, my son makes a list of about ten or more DVDs that he would like to have. Since he is only five years old, he tends to watch the same movie over and over again, so a DVD is a good investment. This year, he saw this on a television show:
