Innovative approach and optical expression of creative freedom.
The key to affecting the development of tomorrow’s mobility lies in our readiness to challenge what is established and in the ability to present new options. In order to meet these objectives, BMW Group Design taps into the potential of the GINA principle (Geometry and Functions In “N” Adaptions) which promotes innovative thinking by allowing maximum freedom of crea-tivity. GINA produces dramatically different solutions that affect the design and functionality of future cars. The GINA Light Visionary Model is an optical expression of selective, future-oriented concepts which provide an example of the manner and extent of this transformation.
BMW Group Design is not just interested in answering the question of how the car of the future will look but primarily wishes to explore the creative freedom it has to offer. Both of these aspects are affected by the requirements that future cars are expected to meet. All ideas that the GINA Light Visionary Model presents are therefore derived from the needs and demands of customers concerning the aesthetic and functional characteristics of their car and their desire to express individuality and lifestyle. The GINA Light Visionary Model has an almost seamless outer skin, a flexible textile cover that stretches across a moveable substructure. Individual functions are only revealed if and when they are needed.
With this model, BMW Group Design initiates a fundamental discourse about the characteristics that will affect the development of cars in future. It is therefore fundamentally different from concept cars, which reflect what is expected of them by implementing as many elements as possible in a future production model. In contrast, the GINA Light Visionary Model is a vision of future cars and serves as an object of research.
Suzuki has released an official teaser for its new Kizashi 3 concept sedan, which will be unveiled in a couple of weeks at the New York Auto Show. The Kizashi concept vehicles represent Suzuki’s first attempt at developing a model that could be sold in the middle class segment and the popularity of the original Kizashi and Kizashi 2 concepts displayed last year quickly prompted officials to green light production plans.
The first two concepts were powered by efficient four-cylinder turbodiesel and petrol V6 engines but the third variant is expected to sport an all-new V8 powerplant. The styling of the Kizashi 3 will be the closest of the three concepts to the final production model, which is shaping up to be a new midsized sports sedan.
Hyundai has proven that a budget carmaker can develop and market a V8 saloon and now it seems Suzuki is set to do the same. Unlike Hyundai’s RWD Genesis, the Suzuki is expected to feature an AWD powertrain and could also offer a hybrid option.

Rolls-Royce does things differently. Doors open backwards, hood ornaments are powered, engine displacement is measured to two decimal places, and headliners are designed to mimic the night sky.
Even the company’s product launches are unique. At the 2008 Geneva show, Rolls-Royce will formally announce the Phantom Coupe. This comes over a year after the Phantom Drophead Coupe (convertible to those outside Britain) was launched. This is not your ordinary coupe/convertible timeline.
The fixed-head Phantom is expected to be much like its convertible precursor. The same 6.75-liter V-12 sits under the long hood, making a familiar 453 hp and 532 lb-ft of torque. The Coupe can be equipped with the starlight headliner seen on the 101EX concept and also available in the four-door Phantom. Ingress and egress are made possible by rear-hinged, powered doors that Phantom owners are used to.

Rolls says the new two-door will be the most driver-oriented of the Phantom line. Torsional stiffness is up, as is expected, compared to the droptop. The transmission has a new sport mode that holds shifts longer. Changes to the suspension firm up the ride and aim to reduce body roll. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is quicker by one tenth at 5.6 seconds.
Pricing has not yet been announced but we expect it to be similar to that of the Drophead, which starts at $412,000. Production of the Phantom Coupe will begin in the summer of 2008.
FoMoCo brings new meaning to “remote office” term. The automaker announced last Wednesday at the media preview of the Chicago Auto Show that a set of high-tech features for its F-Series trucks and E-Series vans including the best-selling F-150. The auto show is open to the public from February 8 to 17.
The high-tech offers of the 2009 Ford F-150 include a broadband-capable in-dash computer, Tool Link tracking system that has embedded radio frequency identification (RFID) capabilities for logging tools and inventory on the truck; and Crew Chief, a telematics and diagnostics system. These features are expected to be available in Ford’s new vehicles in the fall.
The truck’s built-in computer, powered by Microsoft Auto, is located in the middle of the dashboard. It offers a 6.5-inch touch screen, 2GB of memory capable of entertaining expansion, and a USB port.
The Tool Link feature lets users mark their tools with RFID tags. When the tools are not returned to the pickup boxes, the computer flashes a warning on the computer screen.

“It helps contractors and tradespeople guarantee they show up at the job site with the right tools for each job - and that they don’t leave equipment behind,” said William Frykman, the automaker’s product development manager. Additionally, the computer also tells fleet managers precisely where the truck is. This is an effort to make easier truckers work. The system also features an 8-foot steel cable used to avoid auto theft.
The new F-150 truck offers V-8 engines ranging from a 4.6-liter to a 5.4-liter engine which can run on E85. The truck is also equipped with either a four-speed or a six-speed automatic transmission to bolster performance and handling.
“Our truck customers are smart - and they work hard,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president. “Ford Work Solutions provides truck customers new technologies and tools to help them work even smarter and further boost their productivity.”
The Dearborn automaker said that dealers will be able to install some of the features in existing Ford truck models.
The new vehicles are engineered for business. And there are two companies responsible for that milestone - Garmin International and Sprint Mobile Broadband Network. Internet access is provided via the Sprint and navigation capabilities by Garmin.
Separately, the automaker announced Wednesday the Transit Connect, a compact van engineered to respond to the needs of small-business owners. Already on the roads in Europe, it is now coming to North America. The van features a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The cargo space can accommodate loads that are 6.5 feet long and 4.7 feet wide.
One of the things that go a long way in making the cars likable is speakers. Those wonderful devices that add unlimited attraction to cars. So much so that had they not been inserted in the cars there wouldn’t have been much takers for this glorious machine. It is precisely for this reason that cars roll out from the factories after speakers have been fitted in them. Car speakers ensure that people are connected with the world even when they are riding from one town to other. One can catch up with news, or one’s favorite programmes or that special bulletin on budget, or the score of Chelsea, Manchester United in the football championship. Thanks to these speakers.
With them on, one is ensured that longest of the journeys are rarely felt as time just flies by without giving one the opportunity to get bored or fatigued. Then it is not that one can only listen to radio programmes but one can also listen to one’s favourite records as well. So you can have Beatles singing for you even when on move. They are also the best way to cut out the traffic noise.
However, to enjoy your favourite song one must ensure that the speakers or the car audio is in top condition. If it is not the case then one can be rest assured that the purpose of having a car speaker would be ruined. Also ruined, to a large extent, would be those lovely rides from one place to other.
A slight attention towards proper maintenance of car speakers or audio would go a long way in enhancing the joy of car rides immensely. Just make sure that the speakers are switched of when you step out of car. Make sure that you dust them properly and do not raise the volume of car too much. Little bit of precautions like these would go a long way on ensuring that car speakers go a long way in serving one in top condition
