Random Twitter Poem for January 7th

Posted by: dragonblogger   in twitter poems

Today’s twitter poem was inspired by the movie Death Race which I saw last week, the one word which triggered the thought and theme was “shank” and the rest kind of filled around it.  It is funny, I kind of summarized the whole movie in a poem.  Thanks to the following people and their words (highlighed in blue):

@wizzardsblog (deflated), @SurfCityJay (smoothie), @BlazingMinds (spooky), @brotherbob69 (shank), @izealove (avuncular), @azredneck (transition), @infohwyman (roof), @SonoranDragon (extempore), @summerbreeze80 (inflation), @blm03 (Disney)

Wrongful Imprisonment

Dreams and hopes deflated in an instant
One spooky event and your life is gone
Roof of concrete with iron bar windows
Only friend a shank in your right hand

As you transition to this life and way
An extempore prison roundup is called
Thugs and villains collect in circles
Inspected and interrogated by the law

An avuncular inmate takes me under his wing
Believes in my story of false accusations
Justice shall be mine and will taste like a smoothie
When I find those responsible for this atrocity

I still have a little boy out there
Waiting for his father to return
Dreams of seeing Disney World
Can still be possible someday

I finally learn who set me up
A life lost for ratings inflation
My retribution was swift and jagged
I escape to my new life forever changed

Tendrils of Pain

Posted by: dragonblogger   in Dark Poems

Tendrils of Pain

Woe be the agony growing in the pit of my stomach
Lanced through the torso by a virtual sword
I cry pardon the strains and pressure of the day
Spoken stresses provide no relief and peace

Should I keel over or collapse
These painful wounds continue to relapse
I find agony in each drink
Pain digested in every meal

A cure for these ailments must be sought
A war for my healing must be fought
For only if my mind is at peace
May my body heal from wounds so deep

Agony strikes and vomit rises
Doubling over again for today
I can’t stop but think paradise awaits
At the end of these troubled days

Random Twitter Poem For January 6th

Posted by: dragonblogger   in twitter poems

I was so busy at work today that I took the random words on twitter and had barely any time to really think about it and come up with something.  So I just threw 90 seconds and crafted as quickly as possible just to get something together.  What came out was sort of a chaotic mess, but reveals an inner meaning and actually turned out better than I expected.

Thank you to the following people for providing the 9 words highlighted in blue.

@summerbreeze80 (octopus), @azredneck  (demand), @grumpy79 (faith), @IntegralChaotic (landslide), @mebanded (marketable), @infohwyman (environment), @SJohnson85 (sprinkles), @SurfCityJay (information), @stevebelt (precious)

Bad Decisions

Choices loom about you like the tendrils of an octopus
You call upon your faith and make decisions based on information
Matters demand your attention
Your poor decisions bury people in a landslide
Lies dusted off of half truth fall in sprinkles
One thing you hold precious
Your soul is not marketable in this environment
Confessions cannot absolve failure
Blood does not quench the thirsty
Pain does not end the suffering
Ice does not stop the burning
And in the end
All you can do is reveal the truth
And wait for judgement

-Poem by Dragon Blogger

To play my game reach out to me @dragonblogger during weekdays on twitter and look for my call for random words typically Monday through Friday 9am - 11am MST.

Bug In A Tank

Posted by: dragonblogger   in Audio Poetry, Kid Poems

I wrote another poem with my young son at his request, I let him come up with a title and some of the lines and together we created the rhyming lines.  He did the voice recording and enjoyed it the entire time.

Bug In A Tank

This is my bug in the tank
Which I have my dad to thank

He caught it for me
Found it in a tree

It can be called a grasshopper
but really locust is more proper

It jumps up in the air so high
I hope that away it won’t fly

It eats sticks and leaves so green
I keep the tank all nice and clean

Speckled yellow with brown spots
Even having some white dots

Finding him was good luck
But momma thinks bugs are yuck

Random Twitter Poem For January 5th

Posted by: dragonblogger   in twitter poems

I hadn’t done a random twitter poem in about a week and I had to run some errands which prevented me from having the full normal time to do a random twitter poem in one sitting, but I was still able to craft this poem based on seven random words (highlighted in blue) from my followers on twitter who played today.

Thanks to the following people for submitting their words: @SurfCityJay (love), @grumpy79 (euphoria), @izealove (sycophant), @summerbreeze80 (desperation), @WebBetty (fastidious), @SonoranDragon (spizzerinctum), @infohwyman (triumph)

Madness For Love

One is driven to desperation
For the euphoria some call love
Muster up all the spizzerinctum you have
Love need not be a fastidious game

Love ebbs and flows like the tide
It is there without realizing it
It is found without searching for it
Flowing around you like the ocean

A sycophant has no chance of finding it
Nor one whose greed see’s no good
A lonely heart may not even notice it
As a careless one could easily lose it

Finding love is one’s ultimate triumph
Sustaining it is an even bigger accomplishment
All find hope in this ocean of fish
Where the water itself is what you sought all along

Sacrifice is Salvation

Posted by: dragonblogger   in Light Poems

Sacrifice is Salvation

The stone that fills my chest
A jagged rock buried deep
My sacrifice is my only salvation
Poison festers in my soul
One life it is a pity
That it should end in misery

Dark gremlins line the steps
Doors crumble in my wake
Lies breed like insects
Lives are broken
Decay lies at my doorstep
A skeleton bears the only key

A light calls down through the shade
A calling to a higher truth
Shadows cower in the light
Love shines a way that’s clear
A single lifeline of hope
In a flash despair fights panic

A stroke so swift and so good
Cleanse the evil and the dark
Split the stone so love can bleed
Fill ones pores with hope
Fill ones mind with calm
Fill ones soul with freedom

Sacrifice is Salvation

Random Daily Twitter Poem For December 30th

Posted by: dragonblogger   in twitter poems

With 10 random words provided today (highlighted in blue) a theme formed from the first several words, but then some curve balls were thrown in and I had to work at it to get them to fit.  Overall, I think the poem came out okay but it didn’t take the direction I originally was wanting.  What do you think?

Here are the 10 people and their words who contributed today from twitter:

@wizzardsblog (hectic), @summerbreeze80 (caress), @coreblox (somnambulant), @azredneck (pharmacy), @Miragi (loquacious), @lejonprime (predisposed), @brullig (smarmy), @izealove (parade), @jamiain (basketball), @_McLaughlin (Tuesday)

Sleep Walking

Having trouble sleeping for weeks
Life troubles are a stench that reeks

Hectic job causes too much stress
With no one at home to hold and caress

Having become a somnambulant sleeper
Losing track of time as I fall deeper

Living this way has been rough
This Tuesday I finally had enough

Smarmy doctor wrote me a scrip
To the store I then took a trip

Pharmacy has sold me this pill
To help me sleep and lie still

A loquacious person in my sleep
I reveal the secrets that I keep

Was I predisposed to this condition
Finding a cure is my new mission

I sat down much later that night
Watching basketball, my hopes were bright

If this pill works, I hoped and prayed
I would flaunt the cure in a parade

-Poem by Dragon Blogger

I deliberately left this poem open ended, leaving the reader to not know whether it works or doesn’t.

I Wish For A Fish

Posted by: dragonblogger   in Audio Poetry, Kid Poems, Light Poems

My 5 year old and I decided to create a kids poem together, and he volunteered to narrate it.  Let us know what you think.

I Wish For A Fish

Mommy, Daddy how I wish
For small little gold fish

One to keep in a bowl or jar
So he won’t swim very far

His colors can be gold or red
I can feed him pieces of bread

We can feed him goldfish food
And he will eat when in the mood

I think I shall name him chips
I watch as he opens and closes his lips

He swims up and gulps some air
I just enjoy sitting down to stare

Thank you for this fish
You have granted my little wish
