1.1M Unsatisfactory for ATL Housewife, Sheree Whitfield

Sheree

Well, the wait is finally over.  I am talking about the well publicized divorce settlement that Sheree Whitfield was expecting from her ex, Bob Whitfield.  It is reported that she received a whopping 1.1m, and is appealing that amount to a higher authority.  I'm not sure whether the amount includes attorney's fees or not, but Sheree is not happy with the amount, which includes no alimony.  Judging by her expensive habits, I can sure see why the amount is not acceptable.  She has moved out of the beautiful home we saw on ATL Housewives and has taken her children out of their costly private school and opted for public school. If I may chime in on Sheree's misfortune, I would say that perhaps she should have kept her exhorbitant lifestyle a little hush-hush until things were settled.   She also had a public forum to show what a great mom she was, but I didn't feel the love for the kids and she spent little to no time with them on the show. It was the "all about me, whatever I want show."  On the show, she bragged about how she was expecting a settlement that would afford her a post marriage lifestyle that was equivalent, or better than the one she had while married to Whitfield.  As Neffe would say, "ARE YOU SERIOUS!"  I never smile on anyone's misfortune and I'm not smiling on this one, but let's just say that a little karma goes a long way.  Hopefully, in reading some of the blogs out there, Sheree will pull out the mirror and take a serious look.  Oh yes, what happened to She by Sheree, the upscale clothing line she was starting.  It was supposed to be launched this month, but so far the website is up but the shop is definitely not open.  I hope that she wasn't looking to use her "settlement money" to finance the venture.   If you can believe it, BRAVO television has signed up for a second season of the ATL, but with all the financial problems, I wonder who will return.

Enticed to Shop

Bath&body

I'm sure that you have all noticed that with the economic downturn, retailers are getting very creative to make sure they continue to get your business.   Last week, Bath and Body Works had an unbelievable sale on their True Blue Spa products.  The offer was buy 2, get 2 free.  Now, it doesn't take a genius to know that was a great deal.  I've never seen those products go on sale, let alone for $10.00 each.  True Blue Spa products are their most expensive line of products, but they are still a great deal compared to comparable products.  My favorite is Lay it On Thick, which sells for $20.00.  It smells great and goes on like butter, smoooooth.  Although the True Blue deal is gone, they are continuing to sell their signature lotions, sprays and body butters at a discount. To find out more, go to bath&bodyworks.com.

Movie Pick - Benjamin Button

Over the holiday, I was in Las Vegas and had the pleasure of seeing the newly released fim, Benjamin Button. This is a must see movie, with a cast that is nothing less than fabulous.  Brad Pitt plays the role of a man who is aging in reverse.  The idea alone is quite genius, and the film truly lives up to everything I thought it would be.   It is a love story that is thought provoking, funny, sad and full of insight into the human condition.   Oh yes, it's not fair that I not make mention of how beautiful Ms. Cate Blanchett looked in the movie.  She was simply gorgeous, as was the little girl who played her as a child.   I won't ruin it for you, but I will give you a snippet of the movie and promise that it will not disappoint you.  I see a definite Oscar for Brad Pitt for his performance in this movie.

The New Year is Here

New years

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my friends at Beeline2Beauty.  The new year has finally come and now last year's dreams, hopes and aspirations are now a year ahead.  So, how did you fare?  As for me, some goals were met and some not.  I bet you're wondering about that Weight Loss Challenge.  Well, to be honest, I did lose 10 pounds, but then came Halloween and the beginning of a long holiday season.  Needless to say, the  holiday season really knocked me off my game. From family parties to class celebrations, I must say I had a great time and food is always part of the celebration.  I still have the 10 pounds off and have no idea why, but I am thankful for that.  I put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve such a hefty weight loss goal in such a short amount of time and I paid the price.  That said, it's a new year and time to make some changes and set some realistic goals.  My goal for this year is to eat better and move towards a lifestyle that is conducive to good health. Oh yes, I am also getting a divorce from McDonald's french fries. I guess you could say it is irreconcilable differences (lol).  I also need to be more organized.  I have several things going on and lack of organization is to my detriment.   My first priority is to refill my Daytimer.  It keeps me organized and on track.  Whatever   goals you have made for the new year, take each day and work little by little and before you know it, your goals will be reached.  I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's holiday and I wish you a year ahead of health, prosperity and blessings.

Bush Receives Two Shoes

President Bush had two shoes thrown at him during a recent news conference in Baghdad, Iraq.  The visit was supposed to be an unannounced trip for a victory lap before the change of power in January to President-Elect, Barack Obama.  At present, there are nearly 150,000 U.S. troops remaining in Iraq to fight an unpopular war. In addition to massive loss of life, it has also been a huge economic drain to the tune of 576 billion dollars.    Bush had to duck to miss the swiftly approaching shoes that were sent compliments of a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, Muntadar al-Zeidi. Apparently, Mr. Al-Zeidi shouted, "This is the end," before lunging two size 10's at the head of President Bush.

Gretchen from OC Housewives loses Fiancee

Gretchen

Today I learned that Gretchen from the Real Housewives of the OC lost her fiance, Jeff who died of a form of cancer of the blood.  Many of us think we're watching the show in real time, but it is actually taped months ahead.  Jeff actually died in September, shortly after the show wrapped.  I think that's really sad.  Last week I watched the show and I was furious at how the other ladies treated Gretchen.  They called  her a gold digger and all these other silly things.  Hey, she made the man happy if only for a short time and that's what he wanted.  As Kim from the ATL says, "Let your haters be your motivators."   She should be very motivated because she has lots of haters on the show.  Next week, they are announcing that one of the housewives is leaving.  I wish it was Vicki because she is simply obnoxious.  Vicki is self made which I like, but she is also mean and nasty to everyone, including her husband.  I don't know for the life of me how her daughter turned out so well.  It seems like neither of her kids can stand her.  I hope that the other housewives take a good look in the mirror because they acted like backstabbing, catty, low classed broads.  I wasn't going to write anything, but after reading her blog, I got a little mad.

Michelle's Inauguration Dress?

Isaac

I am sure by now that Michelle Obama has decided which designer duds she will be wearing to the inauguration.  I think that we can all agree that the dress by Narcisco Rodriguez, which she wore to the acceptance was hideous and unflattering.  I was more than shocked when she came out because she has such class and style, and typically makes good choices in her clothing.  She must be having so much fun.  I mean, who gets to play dress up on such a large scale and have their choice of any designer they choose.  Yep, I'm a little jealous, but more proud.  I can't wait to see them walk out on stage.  I know that they will all look stunning.  The above sketch is from Isaac Mizrahi.  I like the sketch for Michelle's dress, but I don't like the dresses for the girls.

More Housewife Drama from the ATL

Nene

On the Real Housewives of Atlanta, we all seemed to gravitate to the free spirited Ne-Ne Leakes.  She was funny and always seemed to keep it real.  Well, it appears that Ne-Ne and her husband Gregg have been evicted from the 5,000 square foot home they were living in on the show.  Ne-Ne was contacted for comment by Essence, but pretty much said it was nobody's business regarding where she lived and what she pays.  She also refused to provide her current whereabouts to Essence.  Seems a little fishy, but I am going to delay judgement.  Well, it really is none of my business, but when you put yourself out there, you can look for scrutiny in every corner. According to Ne-Ne, the home was purchased under Gregg's business and something fell through, blah, blah, blah.   If Ne-Ne lost her home, I am very sorry, but you can't always keep up with those Jones.  Oh yes, I forgot, Ne-Ne is the Jones.  Well, that's just more for your ear.  These girls from the ATL refuse to go away quietly.  Oh, and we love them so much, why should they?

Great Buys at Macys

IMG_8479

After the Friday debacle, we decided to try our luck once again, but only at Macys.  Well, now that everything was calmer and more subdued, I felt like shopping and got some great deals at Macys.  On Saturday I used my card and got an extra 20% off my purchases.  I saved a whopping $48.00 when you add up all my clothes.  I was so happy.  I then headed off to The Body Shop and got a holiday makeup item.  They had the coolest

Black Friday Mayhem

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I had a wonderful time full of food, family and fun.  What more can a girl ask for?   Well, shopping on Black Friday of course.  We tried to prepare for Black Friday by going to bed early, but your body is never ready to wake up at the insane hour of 3:00 a.m.  My ride arrived and we picked up some more family members and headed first to Walmart.  The Line was wrapped around the corner and seemed to go on for miles.  We had the bright idea of standing in front of the store to wait for the line to end.  The only problem was that the line never ended and 30 minutes later, we realized it would be a good idea to stand in the line.  There were many police men standing at the door and the loud greeter yelling, "don't run".  Uh, I had no intention of running, but I'm sure that others did.  At Walmart, big screen television sets were coming from all directions.  The big sell was the 50" LCD for $798.  That's a pretty good deal.  Another big hit were the computers and cheap printers.  All those suckers who bought the cheap Lexmark printer are going to be so sorry because the ink truly costs more than the printer.  Okay, next stop Macy's, which is my favorite department store.  Macy's had great deals, but once again, I didn't buy a thing.  I just wasn't in the shopping mood.  We then headed over to Ontario Mills and Nordstrom Rack.  I still didn't buy anything.  I wasn't the only one in my group, so shopping was done, but it wasn't by me on Black Friday. When we arrived home we learned that two individuals had been shot somewhere at a Toys R Us and a Walmart employee was trampled to death.  Hmmh, the holidays really bring out the best in some folks.  That sort of sealed the deal for us to stay away from there.  Well, that's it folks, but I took a few pics to share with you.
