Aftenposten, one of the largest newspapers in Norway announced the Grandiosa Full Pakke pizza as a test winner today. It is produced by Stabburet who is known to ignore the dangers of Glutamate and use it in almost all of their products. Stabburet calls Glutamate a spice, which freshens up the product. Well it does, among its capabilities it enhances the taste. The image to the left is a Grandiosa we bought at Kiwi a little while ago, does it look tasty? Lets just say it was the last time we bought Grandiosa.

From Wiki :

Glutamate is the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter in the mammalian nervous system. At chemical synapses, glutamate is stored in vesicles. Nerve impulses trigger release of glutamate from the pre-synaptic cell. In the opposing post-synaptic cell, glutamate receptors, such as the NMDA receptor, bind glutamate and are activated. Because of its role in synaptic plasticity, it is believed that glutamic acid is involved in cognitive functions like learning and memory in the brain.

It forces the neurons to fire off and it is well known that people with migraine, ADHD and autism should stay away from Glutamate, some reports also indicate that Glutamate might provoke forward hyperactivity. Most of the Glutamate is produced in China, we all know how China handles such products, are you sure you want to eat food with Glutamate?

How would the pizza taste without Glutamate? My bet is : like paper and ketchup.

I had to deliver my car for repairs today and I decided to walk back home instead of taking the bus, thought I should enjoy the great weather. We had a litle snow yesterday but its thawing today, have you noticed how the sound of thawing snow tickles the body? Its weird. The walk was about 5km, lets just say that I needed that after all the Christmasfood and snacks. :)

My 2008

My 2008 was kind of the year of the blogs where I’ve had fun writing on several blogs, splitted them, created new ones and enjoying testing themes and plugins. Sometimes I enjoyed modifiying the blogs more than writing, it could go weeks between the posts but I worked on them every day. :)

I joined many networking systems in January and instantly discovered great blogs that I still visit, I’ve met a lot of nice people and I have learned about several fun systems. Blogging became my favourite hobby.

A lot of changes occured on my blog in 2008, 76% of the visitors use Firefox, 48% of the visitors are from USA, the most popular search term that lead users here was königsegg, boshendal and lidl.

I wish you a pleasant celebration of the new year!

NORAD Santa tracking

  • english
  • norwegian

In 1955 a store in Colerado made a litle mistake. On a poster they encouraged kids to call Santa to ask him questions but they had printed the wrong number. When kids called, the phone to Director of Operations at the Continental Air Defense (CONAD) rang. Colonel Harry Shoup received the first phonecalls and didn’t want to break the kids’ heart and continued to answer. Every kid who asked got Santa’s current position.

Three years later, the governments of the United States and Canada combined their national domestic air defenses into the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), but the tradition continued. Now major media outlets as well as children call in to inquire on Santa’s location.

In 2004, NORAD received more than 35,000 e-mails, 55,000 calls and 912 million hits on the Santa-tracking website from 181 countries.

Her is the Norad tracker :
