Secrets of Keyword Research
There seems to be so much to learn with Keyword Research I always feel I’m missing the point somewhere, not seeing the whole picture. Recently however I’ve been turning the problem round, I’ve been searching for my own sites and then analysing why other sites appeared before mine in the SERPS (search engine results pages). I then pull out useful keywords and phrases and work them into my own site. I am using lots of the free tools as well to enrich my posts, I list these tools here at Keyword Research Tools . I guess a lot of patience is required in the blogging game. Google Analytics will show you what search terms were you used to find your site, this can give you a few more insights and produces many surprises, one of the terms which produced the most traffic for one of my blogs was “My First Car Boot Sale”.
What you are aiming for is to get into the heads of the average Joe who is searching for information and solutions, what would he type, miss-type in? This is actually difficult for someone who is too close to his subject/website to determine. Use the keyword research tools especially those that reveal what people have actually searched for.

Ontology for SEO
I love to learn new words and came across Ontology but the definition nearly blew my brains out namely: Ontology: the branch of metaphysics that studies the nature of existence or being as such phew! . In fact I needed the definition for its use in SEO this is somewhat different Ontology : (computer science) a rigorous and exhaustive organization of some knowledge domain that is usually hierarchical and contains all the relevant entities and their relations . This term is used in SEO for Keyword Research when you try and discover all related search phrases and keywords in order to discover potentially overlooked and therefore hopefully cheap long tail keywords . So now you and I know!

Keyword research is like a job interview process
In order to find the right candidate you may need to interview hundreds of applicants to find the perfect fit for the job. Well, the keyword research process is very similar; you have to cast a wide net first to capture all the possible combinations of keywords known to man. Even then, it’s almost guaranteed you will discover new keywords you have missed in the original research only a few weeks earlier. What this tells us is the keyword selection and refinement process never ends, or at least it should not end until you are happy with the number of visitors you are receiving to your site.

My Internet Marketing Success Board is Full
I guess sometime in 2006 I started a payments board where I pinned up a copy of every payment I got from my Internet Sales. This was intended to boost my confidence especially at the beginning when you are blogging, creating websites, participating in forums and still not seeing very much income.
Well the board is now full and pieces of paper are threatening to fall off (see photo). So I’m planning to put all my payments into a scrap book, this will give me chance to see any growth patterns etc.
Well I still have my 35c days when I wonder if I shouldn’t be searching for a better day job instead but I do seem to be making progress. I like many Internet Marketers am also working alone from home so we really have to work on keeping up a positive frame of mind. So do you have a payments board or what do you do?
