Q-Tip: We Fight/We Love
Posted on | January 8, 2009 | No Comments

Q-Rip and Raphael Saadiq showcase their talents on this track about a female and her troubled relationship.
Lyrics: You get to travel the world, its cheaper than college
And you get guns and you get knowledge
Lookin’ for your soul, and WMD’s
You can’t find nothing, cause its empty
You got your gun, and he’s your friend
And he’s your man, until the end
We fight, We love
It also touches upon a young man who enlists in the military to help pay for college:
“That song is about the nineteen-year-old soldier boy here in America who is a bit ambivalent about things and is looking for his center, you know? And he can’t really go to university because in this capitalist society you have to pay for almost everything. Abroad they have different views on that-you don’t have to buy your way through school. In America you are forced to enlist and after a few years you’re able to trade your time in the military for college credit. How wrong can a system get?”

Window Shopping: Urban Outfitters

I’ve always liked the Urban Outfitters store.
I’m one of those people who likes to have weird little odds and ends in my home. I want to turn around an crack a smile over some whimsical piece of furniture or a clock that no one else (that I know) may have.
You can purchase items like that at Urban Outfitters for a reasonable prince.
Also, if you are decorating for a college student or teenager, check them out.
Maybe you (or your kid) will break the ice with a roommate over a memorable piece.

Video of the Day: Time Will Reveal

… by DeBarge
DeBarge were a huge chapter in my love life with music. In the eighties, I played and sang many of their songs until I drove my friends nuts.
Their slow songs were timeless and have been sampled by many (i.e.- Tupac, Biggie, Mary J. Blige, etc.).
Take a listen and judge for yourself.
Although the family endured many hardships, the music lives on in their children:

Coming To The Stage: Chuck Byrd

Actor Chuck Byrd is a DC native who graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He began his career performing in DC-area productions and was praised for connecting with his characters and for keeping it real onstage.
Chuck was ‘discovered’ after his role in "Good To Go" aka "Short Fuse," where he did his thing and held his own with the likes of Hollywood heavyweights Harris Yulin , Art Garfunkel and Richard Brooks .
Currently living in California, Chuck’s appearances in such indie films such as BET’s "Multitude of Mercies" (as Michael Patrick) with Malcolm Jamal Warner and Raheem DeVaughn and independent film "Breaking The Last Taboo," have gained him much attention.
Keep your eyes and ears open and you just may catch him performing somewhere in your area.

This gritty yet powerful piece speaks to the lack of consciousness and unity amongst African Americans.

Very pretty right?
Love the eyes.
Nice hair too.
He is so cute.
This is why I like to meet people in person, up close & personal… you know, the old fashioned way.
I would need to know what I’m getting into.
“Diamond” (a.k.a. Tyree) is hilarious & would like to be a comedian. I’m sure he’ll make it one day.
