A Review/Test

Think you remember 2008? It doesn't seem that far gone yet, but according to this test I found at My Crazy Life with a Toddler:

You Remember 70% of 2008

You were paying attention during 2008.

And you remember what happened really well.

You'll be able to talk about 2008 for years to come...

Even when most people have forgotten what went down.

Rest?

I almost forgot to mention the other tiny benefit of being out of work (I'll worry about the flat broke PROBLEMS with it later, I'm sure!). Usually when I have plenty of work, I keep a schedule that makes me wish for espresso machines by my bedside. Without work? I spend Maggie's nap in the morning doing actually household stuff like cleaning, laundry, organizing my office (yes, I've made progress!). And around 9 or 10 o'clock, when I'm usually clocking in to complete a few hours of work, I can play around on the internet for a few minutes instead, and then go to sleep at a reasonable hour - yay!! I'm now just trying to remember that 9 o'clock is pretty much not a 'reasonable' hour on the other end of the spectrum! Hahahaha...

Which Way is Up?

And here is the 'problem' with the holidays. With hubby home from work for the week between Christmas and New Years, I can hardly keep track of what day it is! Add in the fact that I'm pretty much out of work for the end of the quarter, and confusion ensues! Today we actually got up and went to church (it's been months, seriously) then out for breakfast. That turned Maggie's schedule every which way but loose...she didn't take a nap of more than 20 minutes or so in the car on the way home. I'm not sure if it will end up good or bad that she was ready for bed by 8:00 PM when she usually goes down around 10:00 PM or later...we'll see ;)

Unwinding

Today hubby and his dad are working around our house. Don't get your hopes up - we're not getting new Moen faucets or anything. They're working in the kitchen and living room...on their computers. Silly engineers :P Maggie will be a very happy camper when she wakes up from her nap and finds that Daddy AND Grandpa are here to play with! I'd imagine it's kind of a bummer for her when she wakes up and I still have to keep working. Luckily hubby is off until after the New Year, so she should have a little better company than usual.

Okay, shameless picture posting :) Here's how happy Maggie might look. In these pictures she's wearing her new dinosaur PJs and her hat as we get ready to go to the light display last week. Happy girl!

Happy Holidays Review

Maggie, of course, had the best holidays of us all (as far as Christmas booty goes!). Here she is at her table and chairs playing with her new Tupperware dishes at Mimi and Papas. She's been pretending to eat and drink all of her toys for a while, so I figured it was time for some that actually suited the purpose.

One of her very favorites (two, actually) are the doll stroller and George. The first couple of days she refused to let go of the stroller for any reason without screaming. Now George isn't even allowed in the stroller. Go figure. Last night while we were watching Over the Hedge, she parked her own little diaper butt in the stroller and got comfy. Silly kid.

Well?

How is your holiday going? Hope you're enjoying it with family and friends - don't worry about using the 0% balance transfer calculator til tomorrow!

Seriously, everyone I know was toning it down a bit this holiday season. Luckily hubby and I did too, and didn't go into debt over this year's celebrations. We were able to work with some fundage in the fall from selling a car, and using some of our usual 'fun money' to funnel toward fun stuff for Maggie and each other for the holidays. And one of my presents is taking care of our New Year's celebration too! New Years Eve we're going to see Wicked! Yay!!

What Color Christmas Lights are You?

Saw this over at Crazy Mom With 4 Boys and had to find out for myself...

You Are Gold Lights

Your holidays are a time of abundance and riches.

Even if you don't have a lot during the rest of the year, this is the time that you splurge a little.

Your holidays traditions tend to be a bit old fashioned and dignified.

You like old holiday movies, properly wrapped presents, and family recipes passed down over the years.

Almost There....

You'd better be ready for the holidays now, eh? All I have left is wrapping, pretty much. I was sort of bummed to see snow falling again. I've heard it's supposed to warm up and melt by Christmas, and in the meantime I have dinner plans tonight! Maggie and I were planning to meet up with friends of mine, but I won't if it's too yucky to drive across town :(. And there's nothing good to eat here. Who would've thought that snow could act as a best diet pill?
