I May Have Been a Fairy Godmother in a Past Life

Really. I've been wishing lately that I have a magic wand. I'd go around the blogging world and whirl it around and all will be well with everyone. Whenever I drop ECs, I do a fast browse and read if something catches my eye. Yesterday, I came across many blogs that tugged at my heartstrings. How I wish I can reach out and help these fellow bloggers. Whatever their troubles may be, they all need comfort and encouragement. Most of the times I leave a comment but there are times where I would hesitate. I start writing a comment then change my mind and just move on. Do they really want to know what I'm thinking? Do they need another "I hope everything will be okay." message? Will my comforting words mean something to a total stranger? What do you think?

Picture Meme

I received this meme from Ana of Chica and Pumuckl. Thanks kitties and mommy!

Here are the rules:

1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
3. Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes with the picture.

4. Tag 5 other glorious people to do
the same thing and leave a comment on their blog telling them about it.

The 6th folder is titled 'Dad' and it has photos of my parents and other things that my dad asked me to resize. This is the 6th photo in that folder. It is my parent's wedding photo forty-four years ago. They got married when they were 30 years old. My dad was then a Captain in the Army and my mom was an Optometrist. My mom's gown was custom made and is full of beads. She told me that her train is very long and very heavy. I remember seeing this gown when I was younger. She also kept those pointy shoes with killer heels. Sadly, neither I nor my sister used her wedding gown. My mom was super skinny before and I think her waist was only 20. Can you imagine that? LOL Anyway, maybe my daughter will be able to use it. Oh wait, I remember she told me that she wouldn't get married. She said that she'll just get a dog, a cat and a horse. LOL

Ok, I have to break the last rule. I'm tagging Lanie, Mira, Amy, Carlota, Amor and Lou.

I'm a News Hound

Ever since I was in grade school, I like to read the newspaper. Nowadays, I get the news online since I'm in front of the computer in my spare time.
I saw this quiz from one of the blogs I dropped EC on and wanted to play. So here's my score:

You Remember 90% of 2008

You were paying attention during 2008.

And you remember what happened really well.

You'll be able to talk about 2008 for years to come...

Even when most people have forgotten what went down.

Hubby List Tag

I received this tag from Carlota and Mira. Thank you!

Rules:

1. Pick your sweetest picture when you were still friends and post it on top of the questions and answers.

2. Another pic now that you are together post it after the questions.

3. Share to how many friends you like.

4. Enjoy doing it c:

5. Let your hubby read it too!

I'm tagging Amor of My Life's Journey , Ivanhoe of From Ohio with Love, Debbie of A Fil-Am Journey and Shy of A Journey for Life.

(We didn't have a lot of photos when we were dating, only on special occasions like this one. I guess this will do. LOL This was taken in 1996, our first year of dating and we were both living in the SF Bay Area. Look at those high waisted pants and my curly hair! LOL)

Can you remember the day you first met your hubby?
- I remember getting out of my car and while walking towards the cafe, out of the corner of my eye, there was this guy walking towards the same direction. I was thinking then "Could it be that this is my date?" So I went in and got in line to order. He came in and stood behind me and asked if I'm 'Barb' and the rest is history. LOL Our date lasted 6 hours and we talked and drank a lot of hot chocolate outside Java City in Fremont,CA).

When was that? (doesn't have to be specific)
- February 3, 1996 (It's my cousin's birthday that's why I remember the date. I went to her party first then went on to meet him.)

First impression.
- Hmm, this guy looks so serious! LOL

Were you attracted to him?
- yes, he has the bluest eyes I've ever seen. Although I remember not liking his shoes. LOL It wasn't love at first sight (I don't believe in that) but I found him attractive.

Were you friends before he became your bf?
- No, it was a blind date. We've talked on the phone for about 10-15 times before we decided to meet.

What was the sweetest thing he did for you?
- Hmm, there's a lot of small things he does for me. He gets me stuff I need without me asking for it. For example, he bought me a bluetooth headset for my cell phone so I can use it while driving. He bought me a wrist pad when I complained about the strain I felt on my hands. He turns on the seat warmer so when I get in the car, my bum doesn't freeze. LOL Small things like that mean a lot to me. He also works hard so we can send the kids to a private school and I can be a stay-at-home mom.

What are the things about him that you are thankful for?
- He is so laid back and does not have a lot of hang-ups, down-to-earth, no vices (unless you call watching football (Go Pats!) and baseball (Go Red Sox!) a vice LOL), a very good provider, a wonderful husband and father, and basically just a great guy!

I've Had My Fill...

...of Tony Bourdain and The Twilight Zone. It is a weird combination isn't it? If you like the Twilight Zone TV series, then you probably watched the New Year's day marathon on the Scifi channel. I've seen almost all of the episodes but I still watch it each time it is on. Is it just me or are there others who also watch the marathon every holiday? I think they also show it on some national holiday, I just don't remember when.

Now on to Anthony 'Tony' Bourdain (we're on a first name basis LOL). The Travel Channel had a No Reservations marathon yesterday. Imagine that, a whole day of watching Tony blab about everything under the sun. I enjoy watching his show. I love his narrative with self-deprecating humor. I read from the Market Manila blog that he taped a show in the Philippines a month ago and it will be shown next month. Finally he's made a show about my old country. I've been wondering when he'll do it since Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods did a show last year. I cannot wait to see N.R. episode since I am a long-time reader of Market Manila and the author, Marketman is in the show. If you're a Bourdain fan like me, make sure you watch out for it!

Story of Christmas Past

So Christmas has come and gone. I was having second thoughts about writing this post since December 2008 seems so far away. As you can see, I decided to do it anyway.

The kiddos sure had a great Christmas. Santa dropped off the gift they asked for. Take note that the word gift is singular. I told them that he only has a budget for one gift per child since he has millions of kids to give to. Of course the same rule does not apply to the gifts from mommy and daddy. Between us, my in-laws, my parents, brother-in-laws, cousin and God parents, the kids received everything in their wish list, well, almost everything. Nevertheless, they were happy, as in H-A-P-P-Y.

So what about moi? Well, I did pretty good. My friend Lou of The Shutterbug noticed in one of my post before Christmas that I got the Canon Rebel Xsi. Only a serious photographer like her would've noticed. LOL I also have my Wii Fit and let me tell you, it makes exercise fun and that is good in my opinion. How about my flannel PJs? Yup, got it. BUT, I'm still deciding if I would want to wear something with Polar bears on it. :o) Dh told me that the other colors and designs doesn't look good to him. LOL I didn't get my Leonidas Belgian chocs since I told dh to get it only if it's on Sale which it wasn't or if they have some promotional product. He got me his fave instead, Guylian Belgian chocolates. Mareng Lanie also gave me some melt-in-your-mouth Belgian truffles. Thank goodness for the Wii Fit, what I've been eating in chocs are counter-acted by my daily use of this fitness game. Take note that I wrote 'daily'. Yup, that will be one of my resolution for this year and that's a topic for another post.
