I still believe that you should invest in domains that end with the extension .com. Try to purchase domain names that are relatively generic and that immediately tell someone that a particular service or product will be highlighted within the website. It is widely known that such domains tend to place higher in the search engines which in turn will provide you with a higher income.
If you’re strictly purchasing in domain names to make a quick buck, do not count out domains that are in different languages. For instance, around 7% of the population speak Spanish so registering names that contain popular Spanish words is a great strategy.
Don’t try to go overboard by including a huge string of keywords just because you know that people are searching for them quite often. Try to stick to at the most 3 keywords strung together. It is OK to start a site from scratch with a new domain name, but you have to be aware that it might take numerous months before it is getting lots of traffic. Add a few established sites into your portfolio. You do not have to spend lots of buying such sites. In fact, start small since as a newbie you may lose lots of money if you are tricked into buying a site that is practically worthless.
There are lots of established websites for sale that have lots of potential. The site may even have loads of traffic, but the owner doesn’t have the time to add affiliate links or other forms of revenue generators. Sometimes a new site can be in the sandbox for as long as 12 months in the beginning. An established site will not have that obstacle or at least it may be on the verge of getting out of the sandbox.
Also, a good approach is to buy an established website that is for sale that is related to something that you are currently promoting on the internet. Adding backlinks can be very powerful and you can even funnel visitors through this established site to your main sales page. That kind of forwarded traffic is highly targeted and the best kind to have.
