The Curious Story of Edward Choate by Shafin de Zane

January 7th, 2009

Here’s a short pdf ebook that I received in my email this morning.  I thought you would enjoy it:

The Curious Story of Edward Choate by Shafin de Zane

The link is direct to the pdf - no email address or other personal info is required to access.

My favorite line:

“You can go to the ocean with a bucket or a spoon the ocean does not care.”

So get out your bucket this morning… and enjoy! :)

The Miracle of Right Thought by Orison Swett Marden

January 5th, 2009

Focus40Now - Shining a Guiding Light to Help Maintain Your Focus

I just got an email that a new discussion is starting tomorrow on the Focus Society of Overachievers call, centered around a book by Orison Swett Marden - “The Miracle of Right Thought.”

The ebook version has been made available to free members of the Focus Society Mastermind.

I haven’t read this one yet… but I will be going through it tonight.  Since it’s by one of the fathers of the modern personal development movement, Orison Swett Marden, I don’t doubt that I’ll get a lot out of it.

I’m also looking forward to hearing what Chuck and Company have to say on the call tomorrow.  Even if I don’t make it for the live version, you can bet that I’ll be listening to the replay!

Click here to get your free copy of Orison Swett Marden’s “The Miracle of Right Thought” (use the “Join the Free Membership” link at the bottom of the page.)

The Book Outline Wiki - bookoutlines

January 4th, 2009

If you enjoy Brian Johnson’s PhilosophersNotes, then you’ll probably also get a lot out of bookoutlines.

From the front page:

“The purpose of this wiki is to allow readers to contribute to a community repository of book outlines. Whether you’re here because you’re too cheap to pay for Cliffs Notes, or because you want to be able to better remember your favorite books, welcome.”

While it isn’t focused specifically on personal development, there are quite a few titles that you may be interested in. I was pretty jazzed to find notes on:

There are 78 titles on the site at the time I’m writing this… hey, no wait…

There’s more! ;)

Now there are 79… I just added a brief summary of Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone.  I’m pretty new to the site, and it’s a very brief outline… we’ll see if the other users decide to keep it there. :)

Click here to browse the books on the Book Outline Wiki, and be sure to sign up and add outlines of your own favorites.
