Sunday's Pizza Pictures!

So yes, I've been too busy to update any of my blogs. Not that there's anything specific which kept me away from Blogsville, just the usual chaos of early wake ups, packing lunches, school, homework, and a million other things which threaten to erase my ability to sit down and pen my thoughts.

Last week, the kids came down with the flu. H had it bad and the congestion just wouldn't leave her, poor baby. She was also running a fever and had all but lost her voice. Thankfully, she's back on her feet again and can't wait to go back to school tomorrow since she missed two days, plus the weekend.

J has been running back to back classes till ungodly hours since exams are on, so we're back to never seeing him, and for the last two weeks only for a short time on Sunday. The kids start to get super cranky eventually and much as I can tough it out, I'll admit I get a little cranky too.

Anyway... Since they were much improved today and daddy was home... and NOT occupied with classesn Yippee!!!, they decided to make their all time favorite food... Pizzas!

I'll let the pictures tell you all about it. ;)

That's all for now folks... I'll try to update again this week. Thanks for stopping by!

The Doctor!

B: Hello little girl, are you ill?
H: Yes doctor, I have a headache and three fevers

B: (Pops the thermometer into her mouth) OK, let me check your temperament and if you have a heart
B: You have one fever, it's bad
H: Oh No! What medicine will you give me?
B: Green, red and yellow medicine for one hundred days
H: That's good, I like red

B: I found your heart, it's beating

B: And now young lady (picks up the syringe) be brave... it's time for your projection!

I'm a Top Momma!!

I just got an email from TopMomma.com letting me know my blog has been listed at the top of their front page! How it works is a popular blog makes it to the top of the page and the least popular one gets a "time out" till they're popular again.

How do I stay at the top?

You make sure I do by visiting this link and clicking on my blog picture. It's the one of my gorgeous twins walking hand in hand on the beach (second top left).
Really cool stuff!!!

I hope you help me stay on as a Top Momma!!

Dear Women in Black

I'm trying, I'm really trying to make friends with some of you while we wait for our kids at the school gate. But it's hard. Hard because I wish you wouldn't pointedly stare at my breasts like they have no business being hidden behind only a bra, a tunic top and a stole. Hard because you then stare at my jeans as if blue is an offensive color which raises your temper and/or makes you recoil in horror. Hard because one of you have daily for the last one week asked me if I wear colored contact lenses. I guess saying no in English, then Urdu, then English and Urdu while shaking my head from side to side hasn't convinced you that my eye color is natural like everyone elses. Neither has me sticking my finger in my right eye and rubbing my iris helped, so when I ignored your question today I don't think it was very nice of you to roll your eyes in disgust and whisper something to the other cow standing beside you who looked at me and giggled, which by the way I think she shouldn't do. I mean, some women can giggle and look cute, but some women just sound like hyenas and could keep a dentist busy for a few years. She really needs to do something about those teeth of hers, like have them knocked out by a professional boxer.

I liked standing near quiet and polite Mrs. something or the other. She was very nice and we chatted happily about our kids, the school and how rudely you all were staring at us while clearly ripping us to pieces, all the while thinking we didn't know. How dumb can you be? Five women all weighing close to or over two hundred lbs, covered from head to toe in black, scrambling to get closer to each others bulk and speaking in low fog horn sounding voices in an open area less than five feet from everyone else thinking they can't be heard? Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Thankfully I don't carry a grudge, I prefer to ignore. And ignore you I will from now on while I privately thank you for giving me new topics to blog about.

Sincerely,
Alien Mom

First Week of School a Success!!

And what a week it's been!! A whole new routine and experience, and we're all just lovin it. Well, mainly the kids are ;) I can do without the constant rush to get things done, ready, washed, ironed, packed, cooked, cleaned, labeled etc. I've been waking up at 5:30am even though I keep everything ready the night before... Am I mentally disturbed? No, it's just my OCD shining through so judge me not and I shall restrain myself from coming and setting up a routine in your house.

The kids are up at a little past six and thankfully they jump out of bed shouting "It's a schooooool day" and probably wake up the neighbors with their whoops and yells. That'll teach those idiots to let their kids scream outside my house after 10:00pm.

The orientation period was supposed to go slow and they only have to put in two hours a day at school. However, their teacher said they were doing very well and, wanted to increase their time by about a half hour daily, so by next week they should be doing a full day. I'm pleased but am a little worried about how much it's tiring them out physically, the last thing I need is two over exhausted kids who might have to miss school should they fall ill. But we shall see how it goes as they seem to be having a blast and don't want to come home when I go to pick them up.

Their teacher is very impressed with them but says she has a problem understanding their accent. Now this is getting to be a problem since a lot of people say the same thing, only thing is, my kids don't have an accent. It's not like they're born and raised in another country and now go to school in Pakistan... WTF?? They speak quite normally and pronounce their words well, that's it. Really, this is so annoying!! How difficult is it to understand English?

But, she's a good teacher and they both love her, and it's clear she's very fond of them too, so I'm happy.

Anyway, the week is over and went really well, now we can relax and enjoy our weekend! Thank goodness!!

First Day of School!

And so begins a new chapter in the life of Seek & Destroy... School!!

They finally started today after seemingly endless rounds of J and myself rushing back and forth for enrollment, interviews, book stores, uniform purchases and what seemed like a million other things. But that part is all over and we finally made it to their first day which we hoped would go smoothly. We were a little anxious that they were starting Kindergarten instead of pre-nursery like all the other kids their age, but the school administration feel they're better suited for KG since they passed the entry test for that level. So yeah, we're very proud of our little Einsteins!

B&H were thrilled to start school and were supposed to report to their Kindergarten class at 8:30am today. They were up at the crack of dawn and could barely sit for a second because all they wanted to do was "Go to School." We all got ready and they looked adorable in their new uniforms and carrying their new backpacks. I went camera crazy as always since I believe in preserving memories in hard copy, on CDs and various photo sharing applications on the web, but I digress.

We left for the school and arrived a little early to be met by a welcome committee made up of a few teachers and the Head Mistress of the Early Years. What i didn't realize was that children of the entire school's faculty are treated like royalty, and their spouses are not treated too badly either. We were fussed over, and made to feel super comfy, although so much attention usually makes me feel very uncomfortable. B&H happily went off to their new class with one of the teachers. There was that one little moment of trembling lips asking "Aren't you coming with us mommy?" but they smiled it away when I said I would meet them later. So, NO tears!! I was so proud... of myself for not breaking down and weeping, and quite proud of them too, though not surprised.

Since they were only required to be in school for two hours their first day, I decided to wait it out right there. I got to meet a few of the other mothers and one or two of them reminded me why I try and physically stay away from women as much as possible. I honestly couldn't take the moaning and groaning about how tough it was for them to get their little son or daughter ready and bring them in for only a couple of hours, which of course in their opinion is a waste of time. I guess the word "orientation" is not visible enough even though it's mentioned about six times in the school's welcome letter to parents. Sigh!

When I finally went upstairs to get the kids I found B sitting at a table crying quietly with both his teacher and her assistant fussing over him. Apparently minutes earlier one of the kids threw a tantrum which made a few of the other kids cry as well, B included. So yes he was happy to see me and said " I had fun mommy, but I think I want to go home now." His sister on the other hand insisted that she didn't want to go home and the flood gates opened. The teachers stood with mouths agape while my drama queen wailed about how if she left she'd never see her school again forever and ever and ever. Ever!

Of course this is nothing new for me, in fact I'd have been shocked if they didn't have opposite reactions. But we finally made it out of there and I bought them some juice before I snapped a couple more pictures of them and then took them home.

So today in the L household we said goodbye to babyhood and hello to... well, a whole new way of life!

I will miss my babies.
