Pink Costume…So Cute!

Yes, Halloween is over. At least it is while I’m writing this post. But the thing is, you can dress in “costume” any day of the year! I absolutely love the costume pictured above. I would love to wear it. But the thing is, it would have to be Halloween for me to wear it, because my thighs would send everyone running away in horror on any other day, and probably on Halloween too.

I create my own fabulous
costumes, generally. I do use a costume store to get my supplies, though. Last year, I went to work dressed like Captain Hooks, um, girlfriend. I had a purple wig, a white feathered hat, and a shirt with flowing sleeves and feathered cuffs. I wore a lot of jewelry and make-up and generally looked trashy in a good Halloween sort of way. There are photos, so I’ll never quite live that one down.

I think we should dress in costumes (or at least exciting pinkish dresses like the one above) more of the year. Of course, we have the Renaissance Festival, but the costume choices are more limited there. Although, if you’re overweight and want to play up your bosoms, there are plenty of costumes available!

It’s a drag to have to wait until Halloween to dress up again. At this point, it won’t be Halloween again for ten more months. Too bad my punk rock days are behind me, because then it was Halloween every day!

Pink Giraffe Purse

pink giraffe purse

I have a pet peeve. It is these giraffe print purses, pink in color or otherwise. The first time I saw one, I just loved it. Actually, I still like them. What I don’t like is that everybody and their little pink dog has one! I swear, every third woman in my town has one! And when I looked up pink designer purse in eBay, guess what came right up? You betcha, several of these babies. So it’s not just an East Texas thing…it could be an INTERNATIONAL thing.

So whatever happened to originality? And what it is that’s so darn appealing about giraffe print that we are all willing to carry the same purse?

Pink Pillows and a Good Bed

I must be tired, since I’m thinking about duvets, pillows and beds. That makes sense, since the break is over and I’ve started teaching again. During lunch, I go walk on the treadmill, and sometimes I walk to and from work. So yeah, I’m tired.

I make sure that my bed is super-comfortable. My mom calls my bed my “nest”. She would be right, since I have a couple of comforters on there and a whole bunch of pillows, both practical and decorative. I get good sleep, since I’m never uncomfortable. Some people are not so fortunate. My mother-in-law has to have her bed just so, or she doesn’t sleep well at all. Some people can never get the pillows right. They always feel as though there are too many or not enough. Sleeping can be especially difficult for someone who has sleep apnea–it is better for people with sleep apnea to sleep in more of an upright position. But who wants to sleep in a chair? Ack! I think in that situation,
adjustable beds would be called for. Then you could change the bed however you’d like. I can think of a lot of people who would benefit from an adjustable bed. There are even adjustable beds that adjust on both sides so both the husband and wife can be happy! And happy is what you want. People who don’t get a good night’s sleep are rarely pleasant to be around.

So I’ll keep my nest and all of its pink pillows. :-)

Pink Duvet

pink duvet

One thing I love about duvets is that they are an instant way to change the entire look of a room. And if they’re washable, they make it super easy to keep your comforter clean. I searched all over the internet for a pink duvet, a hot pink duvet to be specific, and found nothing but dated floral patterns and baby pink for the kiddos. It took logging onto eBay to find the one above, which is not even located in my country!

So where are all the pink duvets? Perhaps I should get out a needle and thread?

Lush Pink Lips…You Can Have Them!

pink lips

Women are almost always critical of their bodies, and I have to say, sometimes it’s with good reason. Sometimes not. I complain about needing a tummy tuck, and I’d sure like an eyelift, but one thing I have no problem with at all are my lips. I was blessed with a full, luscious set that hasn’t appeared to age at all. I get a lot of compliments on my lips, and if I didn’t have them, I’d want them.

Just a generation ago, this would have been a ridiculous statement. But now you can get lips to order! And eyes! Youthful eyes. Now that I’m over 40 I’m looking into a lot of the treatments that I scorned when I was in my twenties.

One thing I’ve learned is that you need to know the qualifications of the person who’s doing work on you. One way to find out is to talk to friends. Another way is to look the person up and see where they have studies, what certifications they have and so on. I was impressed when I looked up Dr.
Ross A. Clevens on Linked In, because I was able to see that Dr. Clevens had studied at Harvard (and many other fine institutions!) and has experience with things like Juvaderm, which I am interested in. He also has experience, which in my opinion, is the most important thing in a doctor!

We should utilize these networks more often to learn more about our doctors! Dr. Clevens is at The Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and specializes in reconstructive facial surgery. This means if you have a BIG problem, he’s your man. Have you ever wondered how people who have been in bad car accidents oftentimes end up looking really good afterwards? It’s people like Dr. Clevens that make that happen.

Cosmetic surgery can be serious business. But I still want my tummy tuck.

Pink Guitar

pink guitar

I used to play guitar, although I’ve never played a pink guitar. I started out with an electric one, and after I discovered that I didn’t sound much like Eddie Van Halen, I switched to an acoustic. I learned all the basic chords but not much else. I played Joan Baez and Bob Dylan and never learned anything more complicated.

I still have an acoustic guitar sitting in my house. It’s sleek and black, and seems to add to the decor and the friendliness of the house. I rarely play it. Seeing this pink guitar though…makes me wanna rock out!
