Holiday Update and Photos
Friday, December 26, 2008 at 07:56PM Well I have some videos I'm planning to post up someday, but I wasn't going to get too far past Christmas without posting a little update.
Still kicking it up in Frisco, Colorado. The snow is falling pretty much every night and I'm having a hell of a time experiencing new mountains all the time and even better an actual backyard that I recently turned into a nice little private jib park.
Hopefully everyone had a good, restful Christmas. I managed to get out and go riding which was awesome... last time it was Christmas and I was at a mountain I was working lifts, grateful for the change.
I'm taking my Level 1 snowboarding instructor exam starting January 6th; I'm always stoked on the fact that going riding every day for me is considered "training". One thing is for sure, Rookie Academy kicks the shit out of any preppy university.
So here a few pics of the goings on over the last few weeks.
The house/mansion is still giant.
This is not a painting. The mountains here are just that perfect...
The backyard tree bonk. There is a whole new setup now, this guy is way bigger. Videos coming soon.
Shortly after running the whiteroom... them shits are fun.
Some of the Rookies crew... Elliot up front with the substance, some dude in the middle (Matt) and me staking my spot on A-Basin.
Estate LA BBQ
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 05:52PM Fuck a New Era hat.
They really don't make that many great designs and when they do you could bet money on seeing someone else sporting your hat thus eliminating the whole concept of "unique, individual style".
Estate LA makes some of the dopest fitted hats around not just in terms of style but functionality as well (where else can a snowboarder find a Gore-tex fitted hat), and since they are still relatively indie that puts the original fashion ball back in your court.
This Saturday you can grab your piece of originality for 35% off at Estate LA's Christmas BBQ bash! See Flyer below...

Events Rookie Academy Colorado
Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 11:23AM So I have spent the last week getting adjusted to my recent move to Frisco, Colorado.
I was keeping everything pretty lowkey as to what I am actually doing here because I was admittedly sketched out that the entire deal was only going to be a scam.
Basically after dropping out of quite a few colleges because the vibe at all of them makes me crazy I had to do something semi-productive with my life. I hated being a liftie and I'm way to old and not talented to become "pro", but I've always enjoyed taking friends who never snowboarded and getting them stoked on it. So I went searching for ways to get certified as an instructor.
There are a few routes you can go, either the do-it-yourself way of shadowing instructors and being trained on the job or you can opt for intensive and expensive season long courses. My life has been a bit hectic due to jobs v. the economy so I wanted a break, and the season long course where all I had to focus on was riding sounded perfect.
After finding a few places I could have gone, I decided to go with a program called Rookie Academy that was based in Colorado. They offered the lodging, the training, the part-time work and I didn't need a visa.
The deal was I spend a hefty sum of money for a nice place to stay and all of the testing fees, coaching and more season passes than I've ever had in a season... then all I have to do is wake up and spend 5 days a week from last Monday to April sometime snowboarding at Copper Mountain and hopefully finishing the season with my Level 1 and Level 2 instructor certifications.
Let me show you how much I fucking lucked out, these are my living quarters for the 2008/2009 season... it's gonna be a good one no doubt!

The main room
The living room
The game room
The jacuzzi topped with freshies...
The backyard... there was a log rail there yesterday.
This place is a mansion. The amount of rooms is insane. There are two kitchens with two ovens, two sinks, two dishwashers, two rice cookers and two ice cube makers. The backyard has a perfect slope for some jibbing and who knows what as the snow continues to fall.
So thanks for bearing with me during my week of absence. I was out enjoying my first days of shredding after an agonizing battle with California weather.
Expect videos and tons of other good stuff to come now that I finally have some snow to ride.
