For over 30 years now Maitri's classes have been filled with artists, writers, and musicians, and more who took her classes to help them open themselves up to their own true material and expand their creativity; housewives and people from all walks of life, including many people sent to her from therapists, ministers, and counselors of all sorts who believed that what she did with their patients/clients was the perfect addendum to their therapeutic process; to all manner of people hoping to learn to use writing as a spiritual practice to see them through life. She has taught this process in colleges, in adult education programs, women centers, privately, as well as online, teaching thousands of people this very special writing process.

Maitri feels that her writing and teaching are an important part of her spiritual path, is committed to following this path for the rest of her life, and has a book in process about her life at Dragonly Cottage. She lives in a magical little cottage on the coast of North Carolina with six parrots, one big black dog, 4 pugs and one beta fish, most of whom are rescues. Animal rescue is a big part of Maitri's life and work.
