After 3 hours of peaceful sleep, I was awakened by a phone call from my brother who has just arrived from work. He asked me to wake up my mom (who was also sleep-deprived due to the never-ending household chores and freelancing stints) so she could open the gates and the door for him. (What a brat!) Anyway, of course I didn’t bother waking mom because she’s in a deep sleep at the moment. So I grabbed my keys and headed downstairs.
When he got into the room (we’re sharing btw), he turned on the airconditioning unit without even bothering to check if the windows are open (no wonder our electric bill is so high!). He got mad because I told him off. Then he called me names. I am so pissed.
First, he didn’t even thank me. Second, he had the nerve to piss me off after waking me at an ungodly hour. Man is not perfect but I don’t think there’s no excuse for having bad manners.
He better not forget his keys again because the next time he calls, I’d go back to sleep and pretend that it didn’t ring at all. Grrrr…
Don’t get me wrong. I love McDonald’s food but their delivery service sucks big time. Most of you may know that I live in Makati and there’s gotta be plenty of McDonald’s branches in my area (The Fort, Makati Ave., Ayala, Guadalupe, and so on). The first time I had a problem with McDo Delivery was when they forgot to deliver the gravy I ordered. I bought 2 of them at Php10 each. It took them 45 minutes to deliver my order and another 45 minutes and 10 phone calls to get my gravy. By the time the gravy arrived, my food is cold and I’ve already lost my appetite.
Tonight, I came home so hungry and tired and once again, I made a mistake of ordering food from McDonald’s. I placed my order sometime between 8 and 8:10 PM and the operator told me that my food will be delivered in 30-45 minutes. After one gruesome hour, the food has still not arrived. I decided to give them a call and after 2 minutes of hold time in the IVR (with their annoying hold music), I got to talk to a lady and I politely asked her to cancel my order. When she said OK, I hunged up.
Never again, McDo Delivery. My mom arrived and cooked some chicken wings for me. It’s now 9:37PM and it’s been 30 minutes since I’ve called to cancel the order, yet the delivery guy arrived. My dad wants me to just take the order but I already lost my appetite. I don’t think I have appetite for anything McDonald’s anymore. The guy said that there has been some problems with the computer and not the delivery. They have my number. They could have called me that there might be a delay. But they didn’t.
I think that they should fix their delivery system because tonight, I’ve read more horrible stories in the internet about their poor delivery service. And oh, they don’t have customer service, just the delivery hotline. I’m not spending Php200 for some food that I don’t want to eat anymore. Maarte na kung maarte. Pero ganun talaga. They may be number 106 in Fortune 500. But because of their crappy service, I consider them as one of the worst companies out there. McDo, isa na lang ang masasabi ko senyo and I will quote the smart Andrea Ayers for this: Back to basics. If they don’t get it, soon enough, competition will eat them up.
Anyhoo, my dad offered me some Fita biscuits. We rarely talk. Now, that’s something.
I’d like to apologize to my advertisers for cancelling their ads because the site was down for about 24 hours or something and I wasn’t sure when it will come back on.
To Bob, my heartfelt thanks. Thank you for keeping this blog alive.
As I child, I wasn’t very much of a “Christmas fan.” I didn’t like it because it’s supposed to be the time when family members are present and they should be happy and celebrating but we weren’t happy nor celebrating some years ago. Aside from that, I had very little money to buy Christmas presents. But for some weird reasons, I am feeling this weird joy over the fact that Christmas is almost here. I’m thankful and happy for so many reasons: my family is complete, I have a loving boyfriend, I can almost smell my diploma, I have great friends, a stable job. Though my life is not perfect, I can definitely say that it’s wonderful and has changed a lot after all three of us (my brothers and I started working). My dad became less temperamental, my mom can relax some more, etc.
Aside from these personal stuff, I am also beginning to appreciate little stuff like the fact that my favorite lipgloss is available again! You see, I’m addicted to The Body Shop’s lip balms. About two Christmases ago, I purchased two pots of their Cranberry-flavored lip balm. I used them all up after some time and when I went back to buy a refill, I found that they only release this kind of lip balm during Christmas. I went back to The Body Shop earlier today and lo and behold, pots of Cranberry-flavored lip balms are on display! I love Christmas! <3
Lately, I’ve been craving for fresh music. I think I’m tired of just listening to your usual pop and RnB sounds and I’m craving for something new to my ear. So the hunt for fresh sounds began.
I started by listening to the songs from Gossip Girl. They have really great music and that’s where I discovered Santogold. I researched the tracks in iTunes and found that her music belongs to the Alternative genre. Alternative never sounded this good. :) I listened to the 30-second samples and I thought maybe I should give this a shot. I didn’t regret that I got Santogold in my iPod.
iTunes is also giving free music samples each week and that’s where I discovered Lenka. Her song was called “The Show” and later on, it was used in Ugly Betty. Another fresh sound. :) So I got her self-titled album. I really love her simple and sweet voice. The beats are fantastic, too.
And finally, another great female artist that I discovered about is Ingrid Michaelson. I was searching for nice “vampire” songs when I stumbled upon a song of hers called “Die Alone.” If you’re using a good headset, you will hear two distinct yet different sounds from the left and right ear when you listen to this song. The lyrics are great and so are the effects.
I’ve been searching for really nice Christmas albums lately. Nice = fresh yet youthful tracks. Today, I went through iTunes and I discovered a great Christmas album that you’ll surely love. Released sometime in October this year, the album “The Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs” is a mix of ballads and upbeat songs. This compilation was done by popular artists such as Sara Bareilles, Katy Perry, Lenka, Fiona Apple, Ingrid Michaelson, and many others. I personally like the duet by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson (Winter Song). The last track, Auld Lang Syne, is a medley sang by all the artists who contributed in this compilation. The verdict? This album is worth your $9.99. I’m giving it five stars.
Here are the tracks:
01 - Sara Barielles And Ingrid Michaelson - Winter Song 04:27
02 - Brandi Carlile - The Heartache Can Wait 03:38
03 - Lenka - All My Bells Are Ringing 02:33
04 - KT Tunstall - Sleigh Ride 02:47
05 - Alice Smith - Silver Bells 02:49
06 - Nicole Atkins - Blue Christmas 03:53
07 - Fiona Apple - Frosty The Snowman 02:11
08 - Holly Conlan - I’ll Be Home For Christmas 03:23
09 - Meiko - Maybe Next Year (X-Mas Song) 03:13
10 - Katy Perry - White Christmas 03:22
11 - Colbie Caillat - Mistletoe 03:51
12 - Priscilla Ahn - Silent Night 02:18
13 - Kate Havenvik - Winter Wonderland 02:41
14 - Catherine Feeny - Christmas Song 03:21
15 - The Hotel Cafe Medley - Auld Lang Syne 02:41
Yesterday, I bumped into one of the security guards who work in our office. So I asked him, “Going home, sir?” He replied, “Yes. It’s been a long day and my legs are already aching. (I’ve) been standing all day. You see, I work 12 hours a day.” I told him, “Sorry to hear that. But I hope you’ll get more rest. Is tomorrow (Saturday) your off?” He said, “No, ma’am. I work six days a week and my off falls on a random day each week.” When we reached the ground floor, I wished him a happy weekend (still, even though he’s got work).
Wow. Twelve hours worth of standing and walking and keeping the building safe is a tough job. And they get paid less than I. As I walk to the waiting shed, I decided that moving forward, I’ll try not to rant about my job. If the guards can handle it, then I surely can manage to do my job well minus the ranting.
