Writing With Purpose

I've finally come to a point where I'm sick and tired of writing a post for advertising. It's not bad making money online. In fact there are many bloggers I knew who make a good living out of this. I don't blame them for doing it, who wouldn't want money? In my case I think I'm over with it and I'd rather write something I'm passionate about. I just realized that it's more fun writing down the things I believe in and what I think is right.

Our thoughts are the most private aspect of our being and expressing them in writing can reveal who we are. Whatever we type is an expression that comes from our minds, feelings and sensations, and that information provides an accurate judgment of someone's private personality. I'm sure many of you know about me just by reading my stuff. Now that I've decided to stop writing any "Advertising" I'm hoping to find inspiration that will keep me writing with a sense of purpose.

Supporting Greed and Stupidity

The government announced today the takeover of the lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This means that billions of our tax dollars will be spent in order to keep these companies afloat. Unsettling as this is, letting them fail would be a worse disaster. It seems criminal that taxpayers should pay the price for greed and stupidity. Loans were given out by greedy lenders to borrowers who were unqualified. Then when the housing boom became a bust the foreclosure rate skyrocketed. Total cost to the taxpayer-100 billion dollars.

Next on the list of poorly run companies who need your tax money is the
American auto industry. These shortsighted companies and their greedy unions failed to foresee the need for fuel efficient and hybrid vehicles and instead continued to churn out huge gas guzzling hunks of steel.

You can bet that no matter what the scenerio, top Execs and CEO's will be walking away with a ton of cash in their accounts. Prolific lenders cashed in on all the risky loans they gave out. And when the smoke cleared and the dust settled I checked my wallet and found it significantly thinner.

Media Bias

I've never witnessed such blatant media bias as I have in this 2008 election season. The Mainstream Media is unapologetically carrying the water for a specific candidate and I think that's disgraceful. This is not journalism. The news should be reported in such a way that people can make an informed opinion based on the honest and unslanted information they receive. It's a disservice to all of us, especially during an important election year, to have the news framed, colored and tilted to reflect the bias and prejudices of a reporter or news organization.

If you've been paying attention to the news in the past few days you've seen dramatic evidence of tilted coverage. News outlets have been investigating and attacking the new Republican VP pick in a way that they've never done with the Democratic presidential nominee. News organizations such as NBC, CNN and MSNBC among others have abandoned all pretense of objectivity in order to get 'their guy' elected.

Fortunately, many Americans are aware of the liberal slant in the media and they don't appreciate it. Whether you're for one candidate or the other, I'm sure you want to receive an undistorted image of the news so that you can make intelligent and informed opinions.

Redefining Marriage

Here in California we will be voting in November to determine what the definition of marriage should be. Several months ago a few California judges overturned the will of the people and granted same-sex couples the right to marry. Laws were already in place that gave domestic partners the same legal advantages that married partners have.

This new ruling, if not changed in November, could have enormous impact. Children, beginning in elementary school will be taught that marriage is a relationship between any two adults regardless of gender. Health classes will have to include homosexual sex education and equate it as normal. Thus, schools will be intervening in the rearing and moral education of children despite the objections of parents who would rather teach a different set of religious and moral values. By redefining the nature of marriage, the government will have to issue regulations to ensure public acceptance of gay unions. These regulations will trample over religious and faith-based organizations in their efforts to provide adoptions, charitable and other societal benefits. The tax-exempt status of religious organizations will certainly be challenged if they don't comply with the gay agenda.

Families, headed by a father and mother have been a proven concept and foundation of civilized society for thousands of years. To undermine it by gender confusion and distortions of its God-given meaning for the rising generation will certainly lessen its moral strength and purpose. This isn't just a California issue but a national one. California is the most populated state in the country and whatever happens here will effect the rest of the union.

Not Feeling Well Again

I'm not feeling well again. Unfortunately I'm suffering from a cough and cold today. I had a sore throat a few days ago and I thought I might have some kind of thyroid disease or something. I almost decided to see a doctor because it was bothering me but I'm glad I didn't. It's not fun to get sick.

The disadvantage of my line of work is I'm too exposed to many people and working on their mouths. I'm sure I got my cold virus to one of our patients at work. Maybe it's all my fault because I'm not trying to keep my immune system healthy and strong which I should. Well its another lesson to learn.

Be A Smart Shopper

Labor Day can be a great time to do shopping because retailers typically discount appliances and other stuff for the holiday. Stores also tend to clear out older models in September because that's when the new models typically arrive from manufacturers. Taking advantage of an occasion like this can save you a lot of money.

When buying stuff make sure that you buy results, not promises. We all know that many products out there are telling you only the good stuff, eliminating the bad. You can often get a good name brand with low cost during holiday sales so don't miss it. I like doing my shopping either early in the morning or later in the day. For me the good time to rush the store is when it is less crowded. The lesser the crowd the easier it is to find what you want to buy.

Window To My Home

I had fun watching my Filipino channel today. The show "Wowowee" sometimes makes me cry, always makes me laugh and most of the time inspires me a lot. Having this channel reminds me of where I'm from and who I am. I'm always amazed how modern technology can bring people closer to home. This is exactly how I feel and I'm glad that this technology exist in my generation.

The Filipino Channel and the Internet is the window to my home country. I'm able to know and be updated about the latest happenings and news about my homeland. I know I live far from home physically and yet I feel so close to my fellow countrymen.
