Woof, Woof.......Meow

I had many customers ask me to create a few pieces for the Dog and Cat lover what do you think? Both pieces can be found in my shop Kristen's Custom Creations.

My favorite is the hand stamped Meow necklace, it reminds me of my cat I had as a kid. The hand stamped Woof necklace can be customized.

I don't know what it is but my creative juices have been flowing lately so be sure to check back for more new designs over the next few weeks. I am wearing my new favorite piece! I love creating new pieces!!!!!

Featured Reader: Let me introduce you to....

La Dolce Vita

Happy New Year friends! Can you believe it is 2009? I hope everyone is off to a fabulous 2009 and I wish all a very prosperous year! I wonder how long I will write 2008 on my checks?

I am very excited to introduce you to my first Featured Reader of 2009!!!!! Let me introduce you to Suzana of Firefly. Suzana is one of my new bloggy friends and we became fast friends right from the start. Suzana blogs about fantastic food, shopping, design and much much more, you are sure to find something simply fabulous at her site. Please grab a cup of joe or beverage of choice and get to know my friend Suzana.

Name:

Suzana or better known as Firefly from firefly-shop.org

Family:

You mean my Toddlers and me? Just joking, Hubby and I have been together for 6 wonderful years, married for the last 4. We have one beautiful daughter, Princess who is 3.5 and a major drama princess she is. Days are never boring with her.

How did you start blogging?

Mom Blogs - Firefly-Shop

I started blogging back in September 2008. Before that (2 years ago) I had a book club blog. It lasted for 3 months. This time I wanted to do a mix of things. About our life and cute little things we do.

Do you have a parenting philosophy?

My parenting philosophy would be relaxed. I don’t obsess about things that are not worth it. Taking one day at a time. Provide a fun childhood for my daughter or at least trying to. As for blogging I believe in writing what you feel the most comfortable with.

You will never find me without......

Coffee! Yes I seem to have a cup of coffee all the time in hand or nearby. Other than that I can’t go out without a purse. In the purse it’s always has my wallet, keys, cell phone, hand lotion, lip gloss, and a Starbucks card.

Day job:

As of March of 2005 I’m a SAHM and I love it. I also just opened up a shop at Etsy, Firefly Shop. I will be selling anything knitted, sewn and painted glass. Of course there are days when I feel like going back into the outside of home working world, but that feeling never lasts for long. It’s like been there done that! I’m happy to be with my little girl.

Favorite Stuff:

Music: I’m sort of into rock and punk. Yes I know what you’re thinking…and no; no piercings other than ears, no hair in colors (although that one time it was strawberry red).

Food: I love to cook and try new things. Food is awesome, and if I had it my way I would live on Sushi, Italian and spicy food!

Tv/ Movies: Don’t laugh but one of my all time favorite movies is The Interview With The Vampire oh yes, and of course any movie with Christian Bale (the Batman). As for TV, I watch reality TV every chance I get.

Reading: I love to read and write short stories and books (not that I published anything YET) I went through my craze of Steven King’s books loved everything that man has ever written. And now every once in a while I’ll pick up his books and read them again. I also like crime novels and chick lit. I could read Confession’s of a Shopaholic million times and always find humor and reality in it.

If you had to wear a T-shirt with your favorite saying on it what would it be?

“I Am Me So Deal With It” it’s so true I always try to be myself and if people like it awesome if not well too bad for them (they are missing out).

Favorite stores to shop at?

Target, Hobby Lobby, Marshals, TJ Max, Organic food stores, and occasional trip to Dollar Store and Big Lots (ppsssttt about this)

Other good stuff from Suzana:

Enjoy life and don’t let anyone or anything to bring you down. Help others in need as you would want others to help you if you needed it. Take care of you and your family first and foremost, snap lots of pictures of your kids because they grow up so fast!
A special thank you to Suzana for allowing us a peek into her world! If you would like to be a Featured Reader please send me an email at klacustomcreations@comcast.net

New Year's Resolutions

I have to admit I don't usually do New Year's Resolutions but felt this year is a great year to kick it off!

1. Live in the moment. I can hardly believe Will is already 3 and want to cherish every moment with my kiddo!

2. Start exercising again! I need to clean off the treadmil and start using our new Wii Fit!

3. Get organized! In my business and our house. Order brings calmness to me!

4. Spend less time on the computer (I am a bit addicted and will never part with my lap top but sometimes my surfing is mindless) quality over quantity

5. Practice affirmations- More positive thoughts, there will be more to come on this throughout the year! You really are what you think!

Do you have any New Year's Resolutions????

Product Junkie Approved: Your cuticle's will thank you!

It is that time of year, dry hands and cuticles that are just crying for some relief. Did you know to have beautiful finger nails it all starts with your cuticles! Your cuticles need to be healthy for your nails to grow properly. A fabulous product that I have used for years is the Solar Oil nail conditioner by Creative Nail Design. Solar Oil contains almond oil and is not only great for your nails but also smells wonderful. Just apply a few times a day and your cuticles will thank you. You can pick up Solar Oil at most drug stores but can also be found here.

One more tip, never cut your cuticles, just push them back either with your towel after a shower or with a cuticle pusher.

Do you have a favorite nail product that the Product Junkie should try?

Thousand Words Thursday: Christmas Fun

Will never wants to take pictures anymore, but we did manage to get this one, I think I had to say his favorite word these days "underpants" to make him smile! We have Dora to thank for underpants being his favorite word.

Presents: Go ahead stick your finger in his mouth Will!

This is my brother doing dishes, it is the first time I have ever witnessed him doing dishes so I thought it was a Kodak moment and thought he was worthy of wearing Will's Superman cape.

Opening presents and eating good food is tiring!

Wishing everyone a very prosperous 2009! Happy New Year!!! To view more Thoursand Words Thursday please visit Cheaper Than Therapy Jen!

What is that big white thing???

I actually have been tagged by Mandy of Adventures of a Millennium Mom. My task was to select the 4th folder of my saved pictures and pick the 4th picture. We have thousands of pictures and just a handful of my husband's pictures, so this is why it is ironic. Hubby has a car collection and this is his 1995 Full Size Bronco and guess what it is for SALE! It really is very nice and is in excellent condition we just have too many cars and need some space!!! I find this funny since I keep asking him when it is going to be sold!!!

I now have the pleasure of tagging 4 bloggers if you chose to select the challenge it is easy!

P.S. Seriously if you know of someone who would like a 1995 Ford Bronco please email me klacustomcreations@comcast.net

Featured Reader: Let me introduce you to......

La Dolce Vita

Happy Monday friends! I hope everyone had a great holiday! We had a great holiday. I was (am) sick and now Will is sick, but besides that we all enjoyed spending time with family. Will loved every single one of his presents! It is nice to slow down a bit and just do a bit of nothing. We all deserve to relax a bit.

I am excited to introduce you to Toni of A Daily Dose of Toni. Toni and I have so much in common! Toni loves shoes, loves to shop and loves to blog. The perfect trio shoes, shopping and blogging! Toni has a lot to offer at her blog: cool product reviews, giveaways and a daily dose of funny. Toni is very funny and you are sure to just love her blog. Grab a cup of joe and get to know my friend Toni.

Name:

My name is Toni and my main blog name is A Daily Dose of Toni Yeah I didn't venture out in the originality department but I think it's catchy. I also have another blog that is all about my children, 2 Boys 1 Princess

A Daily Dose of Toni

Family:

I am happily married and a mom to 3 lovely children. Gabriel (9), Aidan (5), and Bella (3)

How did you start blogging?

I actually just started blogging to have a place to go and ramble, it started more about my kids and their going ons than anything then it turned into a place about everything. Well my mom wasn't too interested in the giveaways, ramblings and reviews so that is when 2 boys 1 princess was born that way she didn't have to wade through all the posts to find one about her grandchildren LOL.

If you are a parent do you have a parenting philosophy?

To raise your children to respect you and others, teach them they should treat others how they want to be treated. Always do your best and then you know you have given it your all. Be an example for them to follow in everything you do.

You will never find me without......

My iPhone or MomAgenda

Reading: The Shopaholic Series, Twilight Series are top on my list.

If you had to wear a T-shirt with your favorite saying on it what would it be?

" People who don't support peace are usually the cause of drama" or "Dance like there is no one watching, be free to be you"

Favorite stores to shop at:

Charlotte Rousse, Dillards, Mason's (a local boutique), anywhere really that has awesome purses and shoes

Other Good stuff from Toni:

I just want to say I think blogging is such a fun way to get to know others. It is a way to let other people in and get to know you. Be true to who you are and that is what will win out in the end, no matter how tough times may get trust yourself and know when you are doing the right thing, things will always work out.

A special thank you to Toni for allowing us to get to know her. Be sure to give Toni some comment love!

Product Junkie Approved: Sheer, Shimmer.....

I never leave home with out my Aveda Lip Tint in Peony! What I love about this product is that it is like a chap stick but has a bit of shimmer. I always like to have a bit of color on my lips and sometimes it just isn't practical to pull out a tube of lip stick when you are out and about. I also sometimes use this as a base under my lip stick or lip gloss. I love that I can apply it with out a mirror and it still looks fabulous. It is available in many shades, has sunscreen and is loaded with fabulous ingredients.
Do you have a favorite lip product that the Product Junkie should check out?

Stick a fork in it.....

I am done w/ orders! I had a few last minute orders for local customers and several pieces of jewelry I was making for gifts. I am pleased to say I am done, hooray! I am looking forward to some time to relax and some extra snuggles with my little guy, but he was kind enough to give me a snuggle in this picture! Hubby was off on Monday and did the grocery shopping for me. He tried picking up our ham at Dearborn Sausage Company, but the police were directing traffic so he decided to pick it up at the grocery store, and he picked up the ingredients for our favorite Christmas Day breakfast. I hope you enjoy the recipe, it is from Martha Stewart from a few years ago, she made it w/ Roger Bart from Desperate Housewives (the crazy doctor that had a thing for Bree. Enjoy!
Cheese Strata With Roger Bart
Serves 6
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more softened, for baking dish
8 slices Pain De Siegle or sourdough bread
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups swiss cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
4 large eggs
2 cups milk
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1. Butter an 8-inch square baking dish; line bottom w/ 4 slices bread. Sprinkle with half of each cheese. Top w/ chives. Layer with remaining bread and cheese.
2. Whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Pour mixture into baking dish. Cover; refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight.
3. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake strata until puffed golden, one hour, to one hour and 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
