What's New?

I apologize for the lack of new content on this blog lately. I have returned to work full time and at the moment there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. I am sure it will be different after I get used to the new pace.

Painting has been pushed to the background for now and I have not been able to finish any new artwork to post on The Creaky Easel. It is never far from my mind though, and I have several ideas for new pieces. I have sold a couple pieces and am hoping to get into the local art scene and get an exhibit set up.

Visitors from out of town have had to be entertained; we went out of town for a couple days to ready the other house for winter as it has still not sold; and there have been personal issues with our son consuming valuable time. My husband works long hours and I have spoiled him so he has become accustomed to my making his lunches and preparing the meals and doing all the housework. After 35 years, this is not going to change! As many of you also do, I spend my days off playing ‘catch-up’ with the big jobs and trying to prepare things ahead for the following week to make the days go a little smoother. All of this stuff does not seem to be as easy to cope with as it was when I was younger!! It saps my energy and plays havoc with my fibromyalgia.. I hope you will visit again and I will do my best to keep a more consistent flow.

Creativity Has Its Reward

Kim at laketrees has chosen me to be among those she honors with this award for creativity. She has chosen the following passage from Wikipedia as her definition of creativity.

Creativity has been attributed variously to divine intervention, cognitive processes, the social environment, personality traits, and chance ("accident", "serendipity"). It has been associated with genius, mental illness and humour. Some say it is a trait we are born with; others say it can be taught with the application of simple techniques.

Although popularly associated with art and literature, it is also an essential part of innovation and invention and is important in professions such as business, economics, architecture, industrial design, science and engineering.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks Kim for considering my artwork worthy of such an award. It is always thrilling when another artist recognises your ability.

The Trapper's Cabin - A new original artwork painted in acrylics

This painting was created from a photo my husband took of an old trapper's cabin near Grande Prairie, AB on the the Forestry Trunk Road. I just loved the simplicity of the scene but did use my artistic license to improve it a little bit. I have decided to show you how it looks in a frame. You can click the links to buy the original artwork or a print if you like it.

Here it is without the frame. This is paintedin acrylics and measures 20 X 24 inches on gallery wrapped canvas.
