In the past few weeks, WooThemes has released a few free WordPress themes that I recommend you to take a look at:
Snapshot is the framework-equivalent of their own showcase and can be used for either a photo showcase, portfolio or design gallery.
Typebased was designed by Armono Wibowo and it is a very clean and elegant personal blog design.
The Original Premium News Theme is the very first premium theme that was ever released by Adii. This is the theme that started it all about a year ago. Since it was WooThemes’ birthday last week, they decided to release it to the public for free.
Platformate is another theme by Michael Hutagalung and it was recently released. If you don’t remember or just don’t know, he released Arthemia Premium in August. Just like Arthemia Premium, Platformate has a theme admin panel that lets you easily modify and customize your theme.
Here are Platformate’s features:

Automattic, the company behind WordPress, has acquired IntenseDebate for an undisclosed amount. Before this news, I had never heard of IntenseDebate before. So, I went to their website and found out that “IntenseDebate is a comment system that enhances and encourages discussion on your blog or website.” Some of the features are threading, reply-by-email, reputation points, and voting. Check their comment system in action!
According to Matt, founding developer of WordPress, the features will be integrated into WordPress core, WordPress.com, and Gravatar as appropriate. I’m definitely excited for this and I’m looking forward to WordPress 2.7.
Matt Thomas, web designer at Automattic, has recently updated the logos and graphics page at WordPress.org. According to his blog, he was tired of seeing fake WordPress logos around the web.
In the page, you’ll find logos, buttons, and desktop wallpapers in various formats and sizes. The official WordPress colors are listed there as well. Show your WordPress pride with them!
Arthemia Premium was recently released by Michael Hutagalung and as the name implies, it is the premium version of his very popular free theme, Arthemia. The main difference between both themes is the theme admin panel available in Arthemia Premium, which can be used to easily modify and customize your theme. From assigning category colors to configuring thumbnail generation, all you need to do is work with input boxes and drop-down menus. No coding is necessary. So, you can easily make changes to this professional-looking theme to suit your needs.
