Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?

Again, We’re Back!

Posted by: AJ In: From Bakla ()

Hopefully, this time, it would be for real and will last forever (may ganon?).

So we’re back. We apologize for the very long period that Bakla Ako, May Reklamo has been down. We had some (actually, a lot) of issues with transferring our hosting services and everything else that comes with the blog. But we are fine now.

Thank you for all those who got worried and all those who didn’t care at all! We miss you! We miss blogging and we miss all the kabaklaan in the world!

(I took the brief time away from blogging and social networking to reevaluate myself, my blogging and online life, as well as my personal life. But let’s not talk about that.)

So we’re here, we’re queer, we’re back and you know it!

We’re BACK-LA!

(and by the way, please do support us and join the Rainbow Bloggers Contingent at the Pride March on December 6. Whether you’re a blogger or not, gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual or even STRAIGHT, you are most welcome to join us! Details here: http://baklablogs.info/)

BratPack Contest Winner

Posted by: AJ In: Bakla Bili Na| Gay Fashion ()

We recently posted a contest here sponsored by BratPack where the best story/experience about their backpacks wins a bag from BratPack.

Congratulations to Mutya Venturanza!  Here’s her winning story:

I graduated from the University of the Philippines Manila. During that four years of college, I only used 1 bag – my green backpack which accompanied me through thick and thin. It was given to me by mom as a birthday gift during my last year in high school. Knowing that I will soon be entering the university, my mom made sure I will be having a sturdy bag to carry all my stuff (which turned out to be just a notebook and my kikay kit since I seldom buy textbooks for myself back in college). At first I was turned off with the backpack given to me – imagine, its green! I would have preferred pink! But as time went by, my green backpack proved to be very useful. For one, I was not able to have it washed all those for years and it still looked the same green backpack I received during my birthday!

I was able to easily fit in my new university with my green backpack. After all, I am at the University of the Philippines where everyone uses no other bag but a backpack. Plus, the green color matched the University’s official colors!

My green backpack was my constant companion all those four years. I hiked

LGBT Bloggers For Pride!

Posted by: AJ In: Manila Pride March 2008 ()

LGBT Bloggers at Red Box (134)

I would like to personally thank Red Box for graciously sponsoring the LGBT Bloggers’ Night last Sunday, November 16 at Red Box, Greenbelt 3.

Also, I would like to thank Joyce Pogoy and GeiserMaclang and the Blog and Soul Movement for helping us make this event happen.

And of course I’d like to thank all the LGBT Bloggers and their friends for coming and having fun with us!

For those who missed it, we know there was something else more important that you had to attend to, and we completely understand. (Photos to drool over to follow below or here.)

Congratulations to Yffar and Rainbow Bloggers Philippines for the launch of the group blog.

Congratulations also to the winners of Delifrance and Red Box GCs and domain names (courtesy of BaklaAko.com, of course hehe).

But the party and the fight is not yet over. The Manila Pride March 2008 is almost here and we still have a lot of things to accomplish!

It is in this light that we are inviting (once again), all LGBT bloggers (and supporters of LGBT causes) to join us as we represent our online community in this year’s Pride March. We will be scheduling another get-together and meeting before the end of November so we can all discuss how we will represent our community at the Pride March. We already have a budget for the rental of the truck we will use for the float.

What we need now is commitment from everyone to join us on December 6 as we represent the LGBT Blogging Community at the Pride March. We need your help, support, and participation so we can tell not only the online world, but also the rest of the universe that we are here, we are queer, and we will stand up and fight for our rights!

The registration form for the LGBT Bloggers for the Pride March can be found below:

You may also register via this link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=pBMbzxkhfXMIuzVyY2lcDNg&hl=en

Please feel free to pass the message and/or copy-paste this entry and the form. We need all the participation and the help we can get! (If you are not out but want to join the march, we can certainly accommodate you and we already have some ideas as to how you can join us!)

Mabuhay tayong lahat!

Project Runway Philippines

Image via Wikipedia

In an interview with the press, we got some trivia and tidbits and chika from the three finalists (Aries Lagat, Veejay Floresca, Philipp Tampus) about what Project Runway Philippnes was like.

Here are some of the behind-the-scenes chika from the finalists:

  • All the finalists (including their families who were with them during the taping of the finale) had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. They were not allowed to say anything to anyone about the results because if they did, they would have paid P4 Million!
  • Veejay is happy that Aries won: “Ang dream talaga naming tatlo is to put up a nice show.”
  • Veejay will have a solo show at the Philippine Fashion Week next year. He will have a 45-piece collection.
  • Veejay did not raise his rates that much. He shared the price range of his designs and creations and it sure is not that high! Very affordable and truly value for money! (Go to his website at VeejayFloresca.com to get in touch with him.
  • Lois, the winning model paired with Aries, will not be doing the fashion spread for Mega Magazine since she has already left to pursue a career as a flight attendant.
  • The shoot for the Mega Magazine fashion spread is yet to be scheduled.
  • The finalists shared that Apples Aberin-Sadhwani,
