Suzuki Burgman Sport-Scooter Concept

written by Drops -- December 3rd, 2008

What the hell is this? Some scooter in Gsxr guise? That’s exactly what it is! What’s the joke again about overweight women? It’s fun to ride until your buddies find out? I think it’s applicable here. The question is, why?

Photobucket

Well, Suzuki has been trying to spice up its Burgman 400 super scooter and make it more attractive to younger, more style-conscious buyers. The big maxi-scooter is presently sold-out in the US, but the median age of the typical Burgman buyer hovers right around 45 years old. Much like those who sleep with fat women!

Motovational Ducati Girl!

What’s up guys? So, as with any project, there are times when you feel that everything is at a loss. You can’t find parts, things just won’t fit, etc.

In my case, my wallet is hurting, big time. Every time I bring in the 900SS for a small fix, the mechanics seem to find another, bigger problem. But, all is not lost. While at work, I was surfing the net and found this beauty of a motivator.

2009 Ducati 1198 & 1198S Overview

written by Tony Tone -- December 1st, 2008

Just when you thought the 1098R was the epitome of Italian exotica (shy of the Desmosidici of course), Ducati busts out with the 1198 and 1198S. Check out their promo video first!

As always, we’re going to give you just a few notable highlights; you can read the full reviews and specifications on Ducati’s website. The 1098R and 1198 both have bore and stroke of 106 x 67.9mm, nearly a 100cc bump from the 1098 (104.0mm x 64.7mm, a true 1099cc). Intake and exhaust valve diameters on the 1098 at 42 and 34mm, respectively, are smaller than on the 1198 at 43.5 and 35.5mm. The 1098R valves measure 44.3 and 36.2mm. An emerging trend, perhaps?

The newest S model is powered by the same L-Twin as the 1198, but it’s carried in a bronze colored frame that matches new 7-spoke Marchesini GP-replica wheels, and a carbon-fiber fender rides out front. The 1198S also gets Öhlins springers: a fully-adjustable 43mm USD fork and fully-adjustable shock.

MotoStars - Celebrities + Motorcycles: Book Review

Our culture has always been infatuated by widely-recognized or famous people who command high degrees of public and media attention. Our newsstands are cluttered with rags that probe into every aspect of celebrity life. And, we all can’t help but read about it!

It is, of course, no wonder that sooner or later, our people (motorcycle enthusiasts, of course!) jumped on the bandwagon of mainstream coverage. This is nothing new either. From James Dean’s motorcycle to the Aprilia in Transformers, we have kept an eye out for media cameos of our favorite rides.

So now it brings us to the book in question. “MotoStars: Celebrities + Motorcycles” is actually a dynamic and engaging exhibit displayed at the AMA’s Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.

However, for those of us who can’t make it to the Museum in person, the official book of the exhibit is the next best thing — and would make the perfect holiday gift for the motorcyclist. Curator David Morris has compiled hundreds of pictures and talked with dozens of celebrities whose bikes are featured, including Pat Boone, Arlen Ness, Neil Peart, Francesco Quinn, Roland Sands and many more. The in-depth stories will draw you in, proving this is much more than just a book of pretty pictures. Get it here.

Without giving away too much of the book, this richly illustrated 168-page companion to the exhibit presents a comprehensive examination of the relationship between celebrities and motorcycling. In addition to exploring celebrities’ fascination with motorcycle culture, the book delves into the impact of celebrity culture on the motorcycle industry.

So, go on, get a copy for that motorcycle enthusiast in your life. Just in time for the holidays too!
