MoneyMakin’Guru.com

Free Product and Blog Reviews.

YoungBusinessOwner.com What a resource for young entrepreneurs.

When I first took a look at Chris’ blog, I was in aw. Chris, I must say, your blog was what I had wanted MoneyMakinGuru.com to be. Non the less, you wanted a review, and here we go.

The Review

In the e-mail you sent me, you said you wanted me to really encourage readers to subscribe to your teen business blog. But, when the subscribe button almost blends in with the header, it makes it harder for someone that wants to subscribe, because they may not see the subscribe button. Also, when someone visits your site, they probally don’t see the subscribe button first. But then on MMG the subscribe button is very visible and almost, playful, it draws a visitors eye. My suggestion would be to get a different button, take a look here.

Something else I would add to your site would be Sociable, the plugin for wordpress. You can get that here. I noticed you have something similar to that, but it is hard to see, Sociable will work better. Also, working on the title tags would help. On the homepage it just says your domain name. I am thinking you are working on other keywords aside from just that. Another suggestion would be to advertise on a site related to yours. (duh!) There is actually a forum called, Teen Bussiness Forum(TBF). You should probally talk to the owner, Edward and ask him about advertising, he is a nice guy, so it should be fairly cheap.

The Positives

  • Your articles are extremely well written, and also resourceful
  • You give good tips, and you write about interesting topics
  • Your theme is very “clean”, it looks very nice
  • You don’t have ads to distract readers
  • Your about page is very well written

Conclusion

All I am going to say is, I did subscribe, I suggest you subscribe, and, I look forward to learning many things on YoungBusinessOwner.com

Hykra.com - Passionate Writing. What?

Thank you Brandon, for getting the second review here on moneymakinguru.com.

The Review

Brandon, you even said it yourself in the e-mail you sent me.

Hey,

The site is http://hykra.com. You can post the review as soon as you can (Thanks.) , there is no immediate need. Obviously positive is good, but honest is better. The frequency of the content is erratic,  and people often comment on the nature of the articles being so random, but that is the point for now….
Brandon
You should of also added,”I do not post about one certain subject. I normally post about many different things, that sometimes can be odd. Lets take a look at your last 10 article titles. And count the ones that can go under the same category. Then well see how many of them are passionate writings.
  1. Obtaining a small business loan.
  2. Don’t flush that old medicine!
  3. Smoking 21 tips to quit the habit.
  4. Stop smoking.
  5. 10 steps to quitting smoking.
  6. Fixed and adjustable rate loans.
  7. Fire sales: Boost your selling power.
  8. File Hosting Explained.
  9. Get in the game: Fantasy Football.
  10. Extreme gaming PC.

Photobucket

Brandon, your a little all over the map. Work on actually posting your passionate writings. Especially because your title tags say, passionate writings, not how to quit smoking.

Next, make your “subscribe” button/sign a little more visible. Get rid of the add on the bottom, it does nothing. After that, put some small Adsense, or something like that under the header.

Compliments

  1. Wow, that is one cool header.
  2. Props on the page rank.

Helpful Tips

  1. Work on the title tags, put some keywords in there.
  2. Get the top commenter widget, here.
  3. Write daily
  4. Be passionate

Over All

I don’t really know what to say. You need to actually post your passionate writings, instead of articles that people can get at other more “powerful” sites. Work on that, build links, and, Hykra.com may have a shot.

Your Friend,

Zach

FreelanceVenue.com Nice theme, work on the content.

First and for most, I would like to thank Bryan from FreelanceVenue.com for getting the first of many reviews on MoneyMakinGuru. Anyway, let’s review his blog.

What is this freelance blog about? Well, you would think it would be about freelance, but many of the articles do not help you pursue a freelance job. Actually, one of the recent articles was about 70 letters…. Take a look.

“Did you know that there are other video-hosting sites on the web? Many people think of YouTube when uploading their videos, but there are other popular ones out there. Video-hosting sites are a great way to promote your sites or services.

Below is a list of a few of them.

To contribute other sites, please reply with your suggestions. Thank you!”

Now say it with me wow! That article taught me nothing I could have learned on my own. Bryan, a suggestion for you would be take some more time and really put some effort into your posts. They don’t have to be very long, but make sure you put alot of information in them. Also you don’t have to post everyday, because somedays you won’t have anything good to post. One last thing about the blog. Why on all of your posts does it say “posted in the month of July,2008″

I would like to compliment you on the theme, and the freelance forum. One thing about that, is why do you have (()) around the forum tab on the homepage.

Bryan, you and I both realize you have a long way to go. But you have a great foundation. All you need to do is put some more time into your articles, and really dedicate some part of your day to writing.

Good luck,

Your friend Zach

Commenting Challenge winner(s)!

Look at that, I won! No, I am just kidding. Take a look over to the right. I did win, but, aside from me, Julian Hooks from technologycurrent.com is the winner. So Julian please e-mail me with the 125×125 ad and I will put it up. But, since I am in a good mood, Ethan the reCYCLER, from www.loltech.net the second place finisher will also get a 125×125 ad space. Thanks guys for commenting so much. For the next couple of months I am going to keep this up. So on August 28 I will give away to more 125×125 ads. Thanks guys!

Wow, alot of work.

Today, and yesterday I spent looking for a new theme, and also downloading plugins. (look at the title tags) I also changed the direction of MoneyMakinGuru. MoneyMakinGuru.com is no longer a teen entrepreneurs quest to becoming a money making guru. From now on, Moneymakinguru will be a free blog reviewing website. I will review all sorts of blogs, but I will mainly focus on “make money blogs”. Hopefully you guys will understand my thinking. Anyway, the commenting challenge results will be up soon, and my first review should be tomorrow.

Google Page Rank Update!

It is about that time again, Google has officially updated page ranks. For those of you who do not know what a “page rank” is, it is, as described by Wikipedia, “PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set” So in short it is a way for Google to see the importance of a website.

(Congrats to all of you who had your page ranks increase!)

Google can and will decrease the page rank of a site. Take for example problogger.com. This is from a while back, but it does show that Google will decrease a page rank. Whether it be by one point or by four points.

On the other hand, the majority of all page ranks increase, or stay equal. Take for example the page rank of Moneymakinguru.com. It went from 0 to 2. They may sound like a minuscule achievement, but for me it is huge.

Hopefully your page rank increased. If not, keep building back links. And by the next update you will surely increase.

Why not posting articles ruins a blog.

Every blog owner loves the days when he or she gets a lot of traffic. But some blog owners hate writing articles. There are 3 things that are an effect of not writing articles on your blog.

1. Google, and other search engines will slowly realize that you do not update your site. This will lead to them putting your site lower and lower for keywords. That is why many webmasters preach “content is king”. If you write a post everyday Google will notice, and give you more “love”. But if you don’t write frequently, or at all, Google will not give you “love”.

2. Your readers will drift away. This is not like the search engine problem, were it is slow and steady. This is more of a fast process. Your readers, if you have any will realize after a week or so what is going on. They may stay connected to your rss feed for about 2 weeks, but after that most of them will unsubscribe. This has happened to me before when I had a blogspot blog. I had 18 readers, and in 2 weeks they wore gone. Just like that.

3. You lose credibility if you start another blog. If you start another blog after the blog that you ditched, many people will be afraid you will ditch again. You will have lost trust with the people that had read your other blog.
