Finally this election year is coming to a close, and this Tuesday is the day of reckoning for all the candidates running for President, as well as other political offices throughout the country. With all the last minute news dropping, all the flip-flopping, are you still undecided? Or are you a part of the many courageous men and women who have dug deep and made the commitment to a candidate?
Who knows how many people will actually go to vote Tuesday. Some polls show that Barack Obama is the clear candidate to win. Other polls show John McCain creeping his way up for another Comeback Kid style win. Then again, other polls can show that third party candidates, such as Libertarian Party nominee Bob Barr can surely win the presidency. What does this show me? That the race isn’t over yet, and let’s not believe in polls.
So Tuesday it is, oh how terrible I feel not being able to vote. As you probably know, I am indeed still in high school, and not yet eighteen, but oh if I could vote, how wonderful it would be. But, my question isn’t about me, but about you. Who will you vote for?
Now I know this is a private question, in which you do no have to say. But just out of curiosity I would like to know who all voted for who. I wonder who will vote out of ignorance, if one candidate is white, or one candidate is black, or if one candidate is old or the other young. Or even if one is a Democrat, or the other is Republican. The thought of Americans making such uneducated guesses scares me, but not much I can do except try to educate us all.
This ignorance shows us who might already win. States like Alabama will vote John McCain, while states like New York will vote Democrat. Just like we can understand that most whites will vote John McCain, while most blacks will vote Barack Obama. I know all of this, and you know all of this, and we do not even have to research that much. We can just walk the streets, drive through neigborhoods, or even watch the evening news to see who is really voting who. So why I even ask this question?
Well, it is not really for me to find out who you are voting for, but for you to find out who you are voting for. There is a day left before you have to make a final decision. Why not look up the facts, why not see the candidates for who they really are. Stop listening to the bias media, those reporters who are suppose to be fair. Why not look up the information yourself?
I know, it can be kind of difficult, but to do a little research can save this country. You see, if you vote for the wrong candidate, more than likely that candidate will be in office for four years. Wouldn’t that just be dreadful. This post isn’t for me to tell you who to vote for. I mean really, I guess you should be thinking right now why are you even reading this little piece by someone who cannot vote himself? Well, do as you wish, but I too will be living in the same world as you, and I shall ask you again, for the sake of you, me, and this great country: Who will you be voting for?
