I'm just curious. The other day I noticed a female celebrity, blonde, attractive, wearing a dress and heels, 2 hand-sized tattoos, one on each of her ankles.
Do you like seeing this on a woman? I hate it.....I think it looks awful, very inelegant, and very unfeminine!

Please note that I have no problem with a small tattoo on a woman, in a er....."strategic spot", such as a tiny butterfly on her shoulder, hip, or bikini line.

Lol, Amy, I dropped on you, and saw the tattoos, but didn't have time to stop. Ugh....I just hate those big, ugly tattoos on women.....I think that they definitely detract from their appearance.
I have a tiny rose on my.......whatever, but no one sees it unless of course.....you get the idea.

I have to agree with Canuckle...all things in moderation...I mean, my wife knows that I am enamored with Alyssa Milano, and I think she has...what, half a dozen different tattoos?
Now, when you start looking like a member of your local Hells Angels chapter, then things are a bit different.

They can be nice, or not nice, just like on men.

Okay, here is a whole page of Alyssa Milano and her tattoos. To me the smaller ones are fine, although in my opinion, the woman has gone way overboard, and will live to regret it. BUT, you, some of you, actually find these inks more attractive than bare skin???

Personally, I think they are ugly, in Milano's case, especially those on her ankles. Yuck.

Personal preference in most cases

The tattoos on her are fine. But combining a rosary, ohm, cherub and ouroborus suggests she hasn't any consistent idea of the significance of any of these things. I think tattoos should be of something the person really is committed to.

I so badly want to link a picture of a "scary pussy tattoo" here right now, but i don't think that would be appreciated.
There's all sorts of things you can do wrong with tattoos. And they stick to you for life. Can't be bothered with it myself, but it can look interesting on others.
In case of doubt, use hemp. At least that fades within a few weeks, but is still very hard to wash off. So it at least feels somewhat like a tattoo without the permanent body scarring and weird STDs you can get from badly cleaned needles, or open wound infections after having it applied. Not to mention color monecules travelling to your arm pits and turning brown. That's really quite nasty looking.
How about freaks that do crap like this to their body : http://www.heaven666.org/scary-ass-mofo-9537.php

Ankitude.....as far as I'm concerned, there is a lot to be said for elegant, and that old saying, frequently referred to by the best designers in the world, "keep it simple, stupid".
If tattoos are more appealing than human skin, I guess I must be living in the wrong century, lol.:)

to me, it's like bumper stickers on a car: I don't mind seeing them and sometimes enjoy them immensely, but I don't have any.

Sometimes I wonder what they mean but I am afraid to ask. Some I like some I don't. I think my wife wants one but she is too scared to get it done. None for me thank you.

Does it mean "isn't it cool" or "Aren't I cool?"

In the future I'd consider getting one if I'm maried and working with large animals. I would get a band over my ring finger, underneath where the wedding rng would be. Simply because it is a significant, life-long commitment and wearing a ring while working with cattle isn't wise.

Well, I don't mind one or two on a man---it seems like a more masculine thing anyway. I just hate seeing the large tattoos on women on body parts that are highly visible. I guess I'm a throwback, lol, cause I can't believe you guys like that. :)

That beautiful butterfly tattoo will look like a melted bag of Skittles in 20 years.

I agree, Cats! That's one of the reasons why I think it's stupid to get them on body parts that are normally exposed. Besides, I think skin looks better. :)

I've always liked tattoos on women. I have a Celtic design on my upper arm (not to mention a nose piercing). I've actually been contemplating getting another bigger tattoo for several years but I can't make up my mind on the design.
I've got it! How about The RollerBlog right across my upper back. Ok maybe not... :)

I think it depends on the woman... Her personality, body, style, and appearance... Every female is unique and there's no across the board standard...

Realtor, in most things, I would agree with you.....it depends on the individual.
Not with tattoos. They either are or aren't more attractive than bare skin, and in my humble opinion, they aren't! :)
EDIT: They are also difficult to remove, and may leave scars. Someday, many of those with tattoos will live to regret a fleeting obsession. So there! :)

I also don't think all women have a 'pretty feminine' sort of beauty, or want one. Afterall there is a different between aspiring to normative femininity and being an attractive female.

@Graham... LOL And you sly devil, you. You're not supposed to make me laugh and spit beverages on my computer like Stan does. Darn it, I'm going to have to leave my glass of water in the other room whenever I'm visiting this forum.

I am actually looking at hiring a model for some promotional videos I am working on who is covered in tattoos (although they aren't related to the video project). I am not sure a tattoo has ever made a girl more attractive to me... but I don't dislike them either. Tattoo-neutrality.
