Entrecard is organizing a comment bomb.
We are looking for 100 or more bloggers to comment on an article that we spotlight via our blog. This article will fall under the general interest category. It will either have to do with blogging, Entrecard, world events, or something of that nature.
There will be no incentive, no payment of any kind for all those who participate. It is a way to show your support to the Entrecard community. The idea behind the comment bomb is to show up in numbers on any given blog, and speak our mind. The idea is to bring a massively powerful influence to a small blog. It is also a way to randomly reward members of the Entrecard community.
There is a something special about receive 100 comments on a post. A feeling that your blog matters, that people have read your words. I want to bring this feeling to bloggers in the Entrecard community, and I need your help. I want Entrecarders to feel what it's like. Together, we can make it happen for someone every week.
The first comment bomb will be held this Friday. If you are writing an article you would like considered for the comment bomb, send me a message. I'm going to be looking for articles published no earlier than this wednesday.

Great Idea!
I'm not the blog to choose, but I nominate Rollerblog!
http://therollerblog.com/
Rollerkaty always puts up the best blog entries and they are fun. I always read the newest entries on Rollerblog when I drop.

I'm willing ........if you change that description to include ALL categories/topics found on EC. Otherwise, it is discriminatory. :)

Nostradamus New Predictions
Can we have a daily "Dropping Bomb" too?
There are so many good, funny, original blogs LANGUISHING in the 8-16 EC range with 5 visitors a day. Put a widget of one of these Hidden treasures on the Dashboard everyday.
I nominate Saphrym to choose one everyday.
We've all seen these cool blogs. It would be fun to have several hundred users drop on one of these for a chosen day to boost moral! AND it will give them a few hundred EC to advertise with!

Nostradamus New Predictions
Comments are great for all if the Blog is a Search Engine follow for comments. A lot of the Bloggers here have adapted their HTML for that to happen.
I think that Wordpress cannot allow Search Engine follow comments.

To send a horde of people to one article on some random blog seems Machiavellian. As if you're sitting back and saying, "This is what Entrecard can do for you." But in reality that does nothing but force round comments into a square hole and send a rush of fake traffic to a given site. When the rush of comments dissipates, the site owner will be back where they started. Nothing but a short term solution. Why don't you feature a site on everyone's dash? Or review a site for random on the blog?
Why the force feeding?

It's not designed to be a "solution" to anything. It's just a fun way to get the community participating and engaging other bloggers. I love the idea of the entire Entrecard community meeting on an outside blog every week to share their comments. If you don't want to participate, surely no on will force you.
Furthermore, I feel Machiavellian is a terrible way to describe this. There is nothing cunning about this nor is it in bad faith. We are merely trying to spread the magic of recieveing a TON of comments on one of your posts. It gives a "sneak peek" of what you can look forward to if you rise the ranks to become an A-list blogger.
We are a wonderful community, and its time to start leveraging ourselves in favor of each others' success and motivation!

Just stating my objection and how I think it might be better to help people long term.
You do what you do.
I already comment here and there on blogs around Entrecard. So I do what I do. Maybe we'll be at the same blog one of these days. I'll be the one talking nonsense.

Great idea, but Fantasy Baseball has a point. I think it would be better to choose a blog based on the general quality of their posts, not just one, and let the commenters comment on any post they like in the blog. This will also enable the commenters to write more relevant and less spammy comments - because when a post has so many comments, after awhile there'll be nothing left to say. Also, not all the participants might be interested in the post you selected, so it would be better if they could find a post that they're interested in on the blog, and comment on that.
I think the winner will probably appreciate that more too.

well this is why we will choose an article about a current hot topic or general interest, so that anyone would be able to comment. Again, no pressure to participate if you don't feel like it.

Stan,
What about my Dropping Bomb Idea mentioned above in this thread? It would highlight a little blog for free and a Drop Bomb would give them some credits to advertise with!

I hate leaving string comments, so if no one has replied yet, I'll go back and edit in some more.
Anyway, let's stay on topic, shall we?

No, I think it's a great idea and I'll definitely participate if I like the entry or the blog. I guess if i find that I'm not interested in the post, or that everything there was to say has already been said, I'll just comment on another of their posts ;)

The article that we pick is going to appeal to the general public. So, for example, if you were to write a post "How do you feel about Goth?" and you presented your own feelings and experiences, and invited everyone to share theirs, it would be fair game.

I find this discriminates against bloggers/Entrecarders who do not blog about blogging. I strictly write movie news and reviews. How would this fit into the COMMENT BOMB "contest"?
|
|

Easy. If you were to write a blurb about an upcoming movie that hasn't been released, and talked it up, and discussed whether you were going to see it or not, and then asked "Will you be seeing this move? Why or why not?" It could certainly be picked!

Nice.
Just to expand upon my last comment, and a string of comments, sure we all have our niche. However, part of having a niche is making it appeal to a wider audience. Sure, I may not be goth, or a movie buff, but I certainly have opinions about goths in society and movies! The key is to write a post, or posts, that ANYONE can respond to, no matter who they are. This can be done for virtually any niche, and thus any blog is fair game, but the post must be open to a wide audience.
Oh, and check our blog on FRIDAY, as it will spotlight the post chosen, and direct your attention to the blog in question for all of your comments.

I'm in if the "targeted" article really is something that compels me to want to comment.
I think I'd have a heart attack if I had 100 comments on one of my posts. The people who comment on my blog have been kind enough to limit the number of comments to under a dozen a day. :) Even that many makes me too giddy to operate heavy machinery.
EDIT: &$#^%( typos

I'd rather have one person find something in my blog they want to genuinely respond to than 100 or more bum rush my blog with what amounts to be at best comment spam...you can be sure there will be one line comments like "nice post" or " I agree".
it's really fake and I don't see how it does any blog owner or Entrecard good in the long run.
Your heart is in the right place but it all seems forced and will look that way on the blog chosen too.

Maybe find a blog to feature in the ad spots for a week or something. I also think that you should change the name because "bomb" sounds like spam and you're planning to take down the site.
