Well, this is great, I was looking through the forums and guess what I found:
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/1083/entrecardmo9.png
(took out the "nipples")
That's right, an advertisement of a nude young lady ;). Anyways, going back on topic here I think this is a huge problem for some of us viewers. I certainly did not know these type of ads were accepted, so I hope Phirate can take a look at it.

hello... i stopped using Adbrite a long time ago because of this problem. Even if I've chosen the option of "limit to family oriented sites ONLY", I still got those porn ads. It doesn't even have anything to do with my site (Im talking about my Parenting Blog!)
I sent them an email and they told me that even if my site didn't have anything adult related, some link on it might be associated with an adult site or something like that... which led me to view and analyse my sidebar at that time....
saphrym.com/blog
geekparenting.com
beautifulandhappy.com
mamasdiary.co..
I didn't link to my main blog at that time because I wanted my other blog to have its own identity.
WHICH of these could have been associated with porn? NONE. It just means that Adbrite gives out adspace to the highest bidder, which in this case is a porn site.
Stop using adbrite.

Another thing that would defeat nipples would be to look at the ad before you approve it. We do get to approve ads before they run on our sites here.
Not that I think EC should allow adult/risque sites, I don't really care either way, but the only reason for one of them to show up on a knitting blog is carelessness.

Lol, you guys are missing out with that "adblock" :)
Anyways, I didn't like it one bit, so that is why I brought it to this thread.

Funny thing is it was showing while I read the thread. Hopefully that gets taken care of because my 7-year-old daughter wants to join this site with her blog.

Well, even with a policy against nude or lewd images, unless they are going to put every account on hold to approve every image, people are going to slip them in from time to time.
Before you jump on that remember that it means that if you want to change your ad for anything.. highlighting a special, adding a seasonal touch, just want a new logo, you account goes dormant until they can get to it in the queue of ads they have to look at.
On the other hand, I can completely understand the position that that's what has to be. Mine are too young yet to worry about it, but the day is fast approaching.

Though I do like the nipples as well, using AdToll might be a better choice, they have a more rigid review policy. FOR TEH CHILDREN!1

@saph oh hey, re your daughter, please let me know if there's anything we can do (other than removing that crap, obviously) that'd be helpful for having a child on here - approved messaging only or something like that.

Bye Nipples!
On my ProjectWonderful advertising page I clearly write: "I will NOT accept advertising for adult, erotic or violent sites / products." and yet I still have retards submitting sites that violate this.
http://www.projectwonderful.com/advertisehere.php?id=7666
So I just reject the ad and then BAN the user so I never receive anything from them ever again.
For the record, Nipples are great. Both fun and functional, just not on my blog please!

You do realize project wonderful submits the site automatically as part of a campaign. So someone might consider their site "Safe for work", but you still might not like it.

Actually, Phirate, take a look at http://www.zoobuh.com. That's where I have her e-mail account. Those kinds of features would be nice.
But another thing I was kind of interested in was maybe a category for "Pre-Teen" personal blogs. That way it's obvious to the people here that these are kids and to act accordingly. Just a suggestion.
If parents allow them to put other categories on their blogs, then the responsibility falls to the parent.

I tried getting my 3 year old son to "click on the gold boxes" to see if any pirate treasure was hidden there. He demanded Tonka Town instead.

Yeah. My daughter wouldn't drop for me either. (Just kidding! I would never have my daughter do such tasks! She's too busy sewing t-shirts together.)

@saph: ok, we'll see what we can do there.
Everyone, regarding the dodgy ads things, we've changed some settings at adbrite, please let me know immediately if you see anything more like that.
