Pushing updated topics to the top of the page (also known as 'bumping') stagnates the flow of conversation, causing a few topics which everyone could argue about forever to stick around the top of the page, collecting hundreds of pages of commentary. For an example see..almost any popular PHPBB style board. The constant downward flow of topics on Entrecard allows the conversation to continue to move forward - important or interesting topics are recreated regularly with more up-to-date, relevant commentary.

Each topic is a discussion. The way topics slowly roll off the page (regardless of popularity) keeps these discussions relatively short. This allows people to read an entire topic easily when they go to reply, as well as easily refer to a particular poster or post without creating a mess of threads.

The forum is designed to actively combat quoting, and thus encourage replies in full paragraphs instead with paraphrasing. The reason is to encourage actual discussion - if you paraphrase another posters words in order to debate a point, it communicates much about your own interpretation of their words which a simple point-by-point refutation does not provide. In addition, it's much easier to read, especially as the reader has probably already read the post you would otherwise quote only seconds before, and has no desire to read the same words over again.

Waste of time. If you wanna double-check your post, do so after you've posted it, and use Edit to correct it.

Because to retrofit all the above anti-features into one would be a pain, if it's even possible. In addition, there are almost no features in any of them that we actually want. And then finally of course, we'd have to go and integrate it into our system to manage users, display entrecards etc.
