The Entrecard Store is here – Contest for Seller Status!
Written on December 20th, 2007 by Graham
Imagine an online store where you can buy T-Shirts, Stickers, Ad’s, Reviews and more from other blogs, and upgrades to your Entrecard account as well, all with Entrecard Credits! Today we take the first steps forward with the Entrecard Store.
To begin, some people have noticed that certain Entrecard members are highlighted in orange.
And that is because they bought the “Featured Status” for 200 credits a pop in our shiny new store.
Also, some people may have noticed that they had an ad set to display on a certain day, and now they’ve been bumped back a day. It’s because a few people have already bought a “Fast Pass” that jumps you to the front of the line, for 300 credits a pop:
As of writing this, there are 2 fast passes left. The link to the store is on your dashboard.
Is a Fast Pass and a Featured Status all we can buy?
NO! You, our faithful Entrecard members, are going to become the sellers. But not all of you. Only six of you, with good things to offer, will be bestowed with seller status.
What will you sell?
We’re going to let the six people with the biggest, best, most creative and most unique things to sell have the seller status. Do you have T-Shirts for your website that you want to cash in for credits? Maybe you would like to sell a review on your blog, or perhaps a full month ad spot. Maybe you’re good ad graphic design and want to sell a card design… or an entire BLOG DESIGN! Who knows! Impress us with your ideas and you will get access to set up shop right here on Entrecard. And yes, you can determine your own price. You receive all the credits as proceeds from a sale in the store.
Here’s how to enter:
Step 1: Write a blog post about our new store, where you’ll be able to buy all all sorts of bells and whistles over the coming months, from Entrecard as well as from Entrecard members. Unlock upgraded statistics, purchase new widget designs, T-Shirts, SWAG, all with credits. The sky is the limit!
Step 2: Include in your post what you will sell through Entrecard, if chosen to receive the coveted “Seller Status”. Include how many credits you will charge for it, and how many are available. For example, you might want to sell 10 Tshirts at 1000 credits a piece, or maybe you will sell 20 Entrecard Re-Designs for 250 credits a piece. Maybe you will sell just one IPhone for 50,000 credits! (we don’t actually expect anyone to sell an Iphone, or anyone to have enough credits to afford one either!)
Step 3: Reply to this post with a link to your post.
Step 4: Six lucky people will be chosen to set up shop on Entrecard. Your listing will include a link to your website, and being one of only six sellers, the exposure will be wonderful!
This is going to get very fun, and very interesting. I hope that we see people selling really great things. Please note that if you choose to sell T-Shirts or hats or things of that nature, you will have to pay the shipping costs to ship your t-shirt to the winner, and if you live in the USA, you may have to ship it outside of the country.
I’m sure there will be a lot of questions, and I’ll be around on the blog to answer all of them.
We want to get the ball rolling with this, so winners will be chosen at our whim when we feel a really good item has been offered for sale. One could be chosen tonight, or perhaps we won’t choose any for five days. Start thinking right away what you’d like to sell, and post as soon as possible!
Let the games begin!

So how will the store work? Will we send out wares to you you and you will inventory them until the supply is gone? Interesting for sure!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:24 pm
Wow, does anyone want to buy anything from me – The TYPO King.
Tip of the day, always proof read your comments. HA.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Many items are digital. For example, people offering design services, blog reviews, advertising, etc. obviously do not need to send anything anywhere.
In the case of T-shirts, stickers, hats, and things of that sort, you do not send it to Entrecard, you send it directly to the purchaser. Of course, integrity and honesty comes into play, and that’s why we’re rolling it out in a very controlled fashion.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
hahaha . . . sounds like a good idea. I love the “Drop Yours” sticker idea.
December 21st, 2007 at 2:47 am
Finally, there’s an Entrecard initiative that prompted me to write about it.
This looks like an interesting viral marketing idea straight from the source.
It seems to me that Entrecard is starting to take off in different directions – all of them leading to an increase in “drop-happy” Entrecard users and lower pages/visit ratios. Therefore, I wonder if you’re thinking about Entrecard as a solely viral marketing medium or you’re thinking about (and aiming for) the actual “quality” of Entrecard usage in the blogosphere?
Of course, “quality” means different things to different people, especially when Entrecard is considered, but there’s always a common denominator.

Wow! Few days ago i noticed Entrecard add the shop item feature, now introduce new feature again! May i know when is the deadline for us to submit the article? Hope i am not too late!

hope someone would sell WP themes
December 21st, 2007 at 5:18 am
@Shonzilla Our focus isn’t even in that area really (quality/quantity). Or at least, mine isn’t. My objective is to create an environment where bloggers can help bloggers. We provide the mechanisms to let you put yourself out there, to build relationships, to get the opportunity to catch someones attention and turn them into a fan, and to find places that can serve as entertainment, advice or object lesson.
How people use that is a combination of our design choices, their own preferences, and the influence of the community. Where design choiecs have to be made, we try and prod people towards behaving in a manner we believe is positive for everyone, but we’re only one factor in 3. I believe those getting the best results are those who can harness as many of the aspects listed above as possible to reach into the community and draw a solid support base from it. It’s still early days yet though.

I could definitely sell entre card designs and all other graphic design related stuff. This is a very cool idea. I’m going to give it a try.
December 21st, 2007 at 7:24 am
OK, got it!
If I was to use the social metaphor:
Entrecards are really “social objects” while “dropping yours” is a “social verb” with the goal of getting attention.
Cheers!

Is there a deadline for when you have to submit your idea/blog post? And how much time, after the deadline, will ilt take for the six folks to be chosen?
December 21st, 2007 at 12:58 pm
There is no deadline, and the winners will be chosen more or less at our whim. That being said, we want people who are seriously interested in becoming one of the six sellers to enter our contest sooner rather than later, and we will announce on the blog when the winners are chosen, along with full descriptions of what they will be offering.

Hi,
I think the shop idea is a great idea to help view ECs as an actual currency between bloggers.
I know what I’d like to sell, here’s a summary:
DVD full of chromatic harmonica videos I recorded over 2 years and a half. I’d sell 15 units (worldwide postage included) at 650 ECs each.
Here’s the blog post with sample videos included:

Tell me what you think.
Cheers,
James
