Account warnings now in place

Written on October 29th, 2008 by Ben Barden

Ben Barden

We are now issuing warnings for minor violations of the Blog Quality Standards. This will allow you to update your site without being deleted first.

The length of time between a warning being issued and an account being deleted for non-compliance is not fixed – it depends on the nature of the violation. Usually we will allow up to 72 hours (3 days) for you to update your site before deleting an account.

The type of violation also determines whether an account is deleted or not. For instance, a blog that only consists of links to illegal file downloads or where the owner engages in mass-spamming is likely to be deleted without warning. This decision is at the moderator’s discretion.

Unless a site is clearly not appropriate for Entrecard in any shape or form, we want to help members to bring their sites within our guidelines. We ask for your cooperation in this by ensuring your site adheres to the Blog Quality Standards and that any warnings are addressed as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about a warning that is issued, please reply to the warning notification email.

Well, a little warning is always nice! ;)

This is a welcome change for the network…

…to actually have a normal post post instead of all that contest posting which was going on for ages now. :P

Seriously now, this change can help restore integrity to the system and avoid situations where users get disgruntled by the fact of getting deleted without warning for minor issues.

Good work!

Reasonable…. Getting deleted without any warning sincerely sucks… This makes it better. At least, users aren’t going to complain if their sites get deleted after a notification email.

I really like the new idea of giving blog owners a chance to correct what might get them deleted.Being deleted without any warning is not the way to do things.Like the banana man said it is great to see something here in the blog other than a contest being added.I feel they belong somewhere else other than the blog. What ever happened to the idea of EC members contributing post(other than contest) to the blog?

It was called for, and now it has arrived. Now perhaps there will be less disgruntled people wondering why their blogs were deleted. Plus it’s good manners to give a warning to people who may be genuine.

This is a welcome change. For people that are not aware that a rule has been invented, like to no pop-up rule that was recently put in place. At least having the option to change is a good thing.

This is interesting news….

Anyone who doesn’t know about the blog quality standards by now deserves their site deleted immediately. But I guess you’ve gotta be nice..

Great move. I think a little cushion period to allow those who were just generally uninformed or unsure about certain rules to adjust their site accordingly can only be a good thing.

Well a real good thought and yes giving a a\warning before deleting the account will be wiser idea since many them wont know what mistake they’ve committed. I’m happy we get a second chance at least

This is good news. We don’t want Entrecard to go the way of Blogrush. I just received the official email from Blogrush saying that they are shutting down.

This is a very good idea. I’ve had my account deleted 2 times. Both times I gladly complied with the Entrecard rules. I think this is a very, very good idea.

Good move, good times.

I think the warning is a great idea, I have read so many blogs complaining about EC lately for this very reason.

Dwacon Says:

I get MAD when I go to a site and when trying to leave get pop-ups that try to force me to click something or else I’m trapped. Those should be deleted IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise, give users a little heads-up time. :-)

Miss Tique Says:

Mmm, my first EC deletion without parole improved my efficiency on the blog, so at least for me, it did a good job.

As a whole, it’s nice to receive a letter from the hangman before him paying a visit. :)

WildClips Says:

Hmmm…a bit late but better late than never. and a good move!

I had a issue with one of my blogs before where the complete blog was deleted (by mistake). I then started to recreate the blog and did use some articles from Article snatch to get myself started up again… only to have it deleted with over 40,000 Ec in the account. :(

I am new here ….

Guess this warning is very useful for me and my blog. Going to just see the steps to follow all regulations applied. I have deleted some of my ads, hopefully it’s acceptable.
