SezWho gets major upgrade

Written on October 24th, 2008 by Graham

SezWho has just released version 2.2, and I recommend that everyone upgrade to it immediately. If you haven’t tried SezWho yet, you should know that you can get Entrecard Credits for some of your comments when you comment on SezWho enabled blogs.

New in SezWho Version 2.2

The feature I like best about this upgrade is that comments are no longer rated on a scale of 1-5, but now the default is a thumbs-up / thumbs-down system, which fits commenting much better. Threaded comments have also been added to this release, along with enhancements to improve the speed and the loading time. They’ve also made significant improvements in the service’s integration with the Blogger platform.

A Change in the Entrecard-SezWho algorithm

We at Entrecard decided to change up the pace a little bit with our SezWho algorithm. We now trigger a credit to be given to people who leave comments that get rated a 2.5 or better, once per day per blog. If you haven’t tried earning credits by commenting yet, install SezWho, activate it from your Entrecard dashboard, and have a blast!

Give the new SezWho a try, and tell us what you think! Hopefully, it’s a little easier to earn credits by commenting this time. You can also check out their official announcement here.

I’m confused.. the new version of sezwho gets rid of the 1-5 point scale, and is replaced with a thumbs up and down system. But the new algorithm stated above for EC, says a 2.5 score gets you some credits. Wouldn’t it be – a thumbs up gets you some credits, once per day per blog? Or am I missing something about the way the thumbs up works?

Been a bit skeptical about sezwho since I installed, and a little annoyed by the load times, and have all but decided to remove it. But am hanging on to it a bit unless the loading gets worse.

However, I just installed this new version and one feature I really like is the option to disable that automatic popup when you roll over someone’s icon or “Who’s This” text next to the name. That was really irritating – specially cause it would take a while to query for previous comments. Now, you can set it to only pop up if you click on it. Nice.

Tried upgrading and then no comments on my blog could be read as the css was totally messed up

Tried then reverting back to 2.1 with no joy so now I have had to remove it all together.

Great Job

I’m sure if you contacted them about the issue they would fix it immediately…

and a thumbs up is a rating of 5 and a thumbs down is a rating of 0, so just one thumbs up gets you the credit

@Greg,

Jitendra from SezWho here.

Can you send me a screenshot of the issues you saw? Shoot me an email with details at jitendra@sezwho.com

@Jack, underneath SezWho still uses the 1-5 scale but with thumbs up and down the values of the buttons are mapped to 1 and 5 instead of a more continuous scale of 1 to 5. Also the new algorithm for credits means that users will get credit for pretty much all their comments and more credit if they have a great reputation. But if a comment is rated down (because its spam etc.) the credit is withdrawn and the reputation score suffers. This means that in the future the users credit will be limited.

Thx, Jitendra

Mine seems to have upgraded to the thumbs up format automatically, which is good. Can I assume I am fully upgraded if I see that?

How do you do that?? Looked my account all over and can’t find anything for setting it up that way. I hate that annoying pop up.

Jitendra Says:

@Ken, Yeah…you should be upgraded if thumbs up/down are showing up.

@Chilly, This option is not available on Blogspot. It will be added in a week or two on blogger as well. Keep an eye on SezWho.com/blog.

I can’t get the sez who to work on my blog anymore. I’ve upgraded to 2.6.3 WP. Is it compatible?

Hey Lisa,

I tried a fresh install of 2.6.3 and also an upgrade from 2.6.2. In both cases SezWho worked fine.

Can you please elaborate the kind of issues you are having?

Also anybody else running into anything similar to what Lisa is seeing?

Thanks, Jitendra
