Entrecard Outage Giveaway Bash!
Written on October 11th, 2008 by Graham
Guess what folks? Entrecard has gotten more popular than ever, and now on a good day we cripple a few servers like we did way back before we had thousands of members on the toolbar and before we ajaxed the dashboard to let you approve/deny advertisers on a single page!

To celebrate this milestone, and to help ease the pain with the outage, we’re holding an Entrecard Outage Giveaway Bash and giving out 100,000 Credits!
To enter the contest:
Just write a review of your favorite Entrecard blogger, and publish it on your blog! Link back to it here, in the comments, and the entries will receive:
1 Grand Prize: 30,000 credits!
2 Mid Prizes: 20,000 credits!
3 runner up prizes: 10,000 credits!
Entries will be judged on creativity, quality of review, quality of constructive feedback, with a little of the overall quality of the blog entering factoring in. Winners will be awarded Tuesday so don’t wait!
Get ready! Get set! Blog!
(oh and please forgive our Critical Load outage, scheduled to occur tonight 10/11 @ around 8:50 PM PST)

Ohhh…am I the first?
My blog review is up. I reviewed Untreatable’s Blog. The post URL is http://maritzia.consecrated-life.org/wp-admin/post-new.php?posted=180

If the servers are taking abuse, why not boost the criteria to something like one post per month? Any spam site can put up 4 posts per year and any active blog should be posting at least once per month anyhow.
October 11th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
We’ll get the spam blogs anyway, whether or not they’re making 4 posts per year.
We can’t boost it to once a month. Sometimes, priorities in life shift, and you can’t get to your blog for a month or two. It’s ok, and we don’t feel like that’s a good reason to tell people they’re not allowed to belong to Entrecard.

Here’s my entry:

After reading the above comments: I still think you should only allow blogs that post regularly. I would up it to a minimum of once per week if it were me.
Best,
Lisa

I just posted about a fellow designer and fellow entrecarder that I think has a great site and great design talent.

Of course you cannot review yourself! That would be in poor taste! Common guy!

Are we allowed to have people recommend themselves to us? If someone were to mail me, I’d write about them.
October 13th, 2008 at 6:17 am
Sure, people can recommend themselves

forget the giveaway, that is nothing but a bribe. I want to know that there is something being done to provent further outages.
October 14th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Sure, we can prevent future outages easily enough, we’ll just have to charge everyone $10 a month.
Keep in mind this is a free service.

[...] Entrecard Outage Giveaway Bash! [...]
October 15th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Yeah, what Graham said. It’s easy to forget we get all this for free. I get as frustrated as anyone with the server issues, but it certainly can’t be cheap to keep all this running without a stream of money coming in from subscriptions or investors, as other sites may have.
Grats to all the winners above, by the way.
October 16th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
It looks like there has been a smooth increase in Entrecard usage over time. The phenomenon is quite appealing because it applies to many different types of individuals that would want to bring viewership to their site.
October 16th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
It too has brought be a general, over all, increase in traffic.
But the increase from people who just drop & run is the highest.
October 18th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
slick. that unique visitors graph looks promising.
