Ask Graham Langdon: round 1

Written on July 24th, 2008 by Graham

This blog series was recommended by a few Entrecarders, so here goes.

As you know, I Graham Langdon am the founder and President of Entrecard. In this blog series, you can ask me anything you like, and I will collect all the Questions and Answer them in a follow up blog post. You can ask me about Entrecard, what the future holds, what I think of the US economy, about Venture Capitalists, about California, about startups in general, about blogging, where the internet is heading… go for it! Ask away!

Oh but please try to make your questions as specific as possible. Nothing more frustrating than an overly vague question that I don’t know how to answer without writing a novel.

kikamz Says:

this is fun! Okay, my question:

How long have you been blogging? And why “ENTRECARD”? This word has become like an icon for thousands of bloggers out there. It might even become officially a word!

Sam Freedoms Internet Marketing Controversy Blog Says:

What is the next thing you need to happen in order to propel you to that next level of your Entrecard vision… so much so that it kind of eats away at you, or burns deep within you, making you think of it at various times throughout the day until it comes to fruition?

Graham Says:

These questions are awesome so far. I’m going to have a lot of fun with this one.

What is your take on Lee Doyle’s U drop I follow movement? I recently investigated them and found only 20% of them returning my drop within a 48 hr period. Isnt this bad for the credibility of Entrecard and EC bloggers?

Btw, I sent you an invitation for Linkedin.

How was this Entrecard system made?

Ben Barden Says:

If you had to place an ad on three blogs currently using Entrecard, which ones would you choose and why? Ad price doesn’t matter, and let’s assume you’re placing an ad for the Entrecard Blog.

11
Jeff Miller Says:

Is it possible to smooth out the log ins for those of us who have multiple blogs on the same account?

When I link into EC from an email ad alert, if the ad isn’t for the same blog I was switched into the last time I was on the site, it gives me a nasty note and requires me to log in again.

This isn’t critical but it is annoying.

This is great! I am glad you are being sociable. Anyway, I started a thread in a top forum 20 days ago and is still on top since a lot of bloggers posted their opinion.

Now, I think it is interesting to know about your pint of view as a blogger. Here it goes Which do you prefer, many subscribers or many commentators?

I am quite sure many will be excited to hear your answer.

Thanks.

Sorry, thought of another right after clicking submit.

What happens to all the EC credits from people dropping on the EC blog/you dropping on peoples blogs? Do you just delete them or use them as payouts so it won’t hurt the economy, etc?

I have two questions:

1. When you hear the word “Philippines,” what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

2. Will non-English blogs eventually be allowed in Entrecard?

StanHayes Says:

Why don’t you post my contest results?

21
Guttu Says:

If Google wants to buy Entrecard will you sell it?? Do you have the guts to run it on your own??
The reason is obvious. Some similar trend website come and a giant buys them. Like flickr, youtube. Let’s see if you answer this question and how you’ll answer this.

This type of thing seems to be taking the world by storm…. kudos to everyone that’s attempted to do this. I have yet to see someone actually answer all their questions *coughMoniquecough*

Graham: Do you take time to have a life outside of making the blogging world a better place? Do you take time for yourself? If yes, what do you do that centers you? If no, do you think it would be a good idea to start so you don’t burn out and what would you like to do so that you’re centered?

SPANX!

Jena Isle Says:

The questions posted earlier are interesting and intriguing. Let me ask a simple one.

Are you single?? (just kidding…to break the ice.. )

Here are my questions: when you select blogs (for contests, for comment rush, blog to feature) , do you read the “about me page first” or the contents first? Do you have any discrimination regarding bloggers who have English as their second language? ( discriminate them for not writing very well and exclude their blogs in the selection process for winners, comment rush, etc)?

I believe, all should be given the chance, don’t you think so?

Thanks for answering.

Btw, I would like to thank you personally for entrecard. Without this dynamic community, I would not have been able to meet new friends.

Happy blog hopping.

29
Majik Says:

Wow! There are quite a few questions here to keep you busy Graham. I only have one question: How many different blogs on average do you comment on in one day?

30
fragileheart Says:

Ooh, I have one. Will we be able to redeem ECs for plane tickets one day?

31
otilius Says:

before EntreCard, what experience did you have with blogs? did you blog? how “well” did the blog(s) do? (traffic, PR, Alexa, etc.)

32
kikamz Says:

now here’s a personal question:
are you superstitious? if so, what are your superstitions? if not, what do you think of people who are superstitious? :D

33
Graham Says:

Questions now closed for this round. I had a lot of fun answering them. Look for all the answers tomorrow (saturday), here on the EC blog.
