A lot of people are getting not founds for people that exist. So, I’ve created links to everyone’s profile who’s added themselves thus far. All you have to do is go to the link and “add friend” on their profile. Everyone on this list does, in fact, exist (except Shozbot I think, couldn’t find him).

Actually Pam, the button will submit if your post has not been submitted yet, and will add a Digg if it has been submitted. We recommend that you do not submit your own articles, but let others do it for you if they like it.

Here’s a little help for wordpress users, if you need it.

I added the digg button to both index.php and single.php

Index.php will control the home page, and single.php controls single post pages. This will enable your digg button to show up on the bottom of posts in both places.

Open the file to edit it and add the line Graham provided after the php call to get the content. That will look something like this (your theme may differ slightly).

Somebody (maybe Jo?) offered a link for making the button code work in blogger/blogspot. It still doesn’t work for me, but now I know why, and need help more than ever. The code from Digg is javascript, and Blogspot will not allow you to put javascript in your posts. I read all the info at the suggested link, and then details of similar fixes on other blogs, but the problem is that the code I’m supposed to find and replace in my template does not exist in my template. The explanations of how to fix were all written in 2007, and I wonder if blogger updated things since then so that the new code is different now.

I think it should be worth mentioning that Digg articles only hit the front page within the first 24 hours (give or take a few hours). Digging up old posts is relatively pointless.

You will also typically need Diggs in the range of 70-150 to get to the frontpage.

I thought the same thing at first. There’s a check box at the upper right of the template window, “expand widget templates.” Once you check that, you should see the line for the body the tutorial has you look for.

Hi, Some of your themes might be getting messed up when you add the digg button instead of using the standard code here is a hack which might solve your problems.

Use this code instead

digg_url=”;
digg_window = ‘new’;

note: this is for mainly for wordpress users. other blog users just need to replace the with the link required eg. http://www.livegrids.net

What the additional code does is that it creates a section for the button that floats. This means that the text will flow around the button and it should not spoil your post’s theme the ‘digg_window = new’ specifies to open the digg window in a new window so that it’s easier to Digg.

Hello my Fellow EntreCarders:

Just some observations after a day of using DIGG with EntreCard:
1. This is an amazing tool and community! I’ve discovered new blogs and dropped on them and some great posts that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise.
2. Thank you Graham for initiating this. Only you could have pulled this off so quickly.
3. Traffic to my blog has spiked over daily hourly averages.
4. My email inbox has been hopping with shouts and friend notices.

If I could make a request to the group:
1. Please only send shouts to request diggs for truly superior content. I think all of us that are participating will now be looking for your digg button every time we drop, so a special shout out is not necessary to request a dig unless it’s a special occurrence. Keeping shouts to the entire group will help keep our email inboxes manageable.
2. Please continue to post genuine comments on everyone’s posts. But it is not necessary to comment on a post: “I dugg your post, please digg mine.”
3. Along with that, I think to make the most out of digg and entrecard, every digg user should favorite their posts on a daily basis. If you look at your favorites on your main profile in Digg, you will see a tab that allows you to see who dugg your post. I’ve already responded to all the bloggers who have dugg my post “Circles” via a shout out, but I intend to visit those blogs personally and to comment. I think this combines the best of all worlds. For those bloggers that digg your posts, visit their current post, and IF you like the post, please comment. This will increase all of our traffic and help bring us all together as a community that is really here to help each other. But at the same time, we all have our own interests and we probably won’t want to digg 200 posts on a daily basis the way we drop 300 cards. Does that make sense to everybody?

That being said, I want to thank everyone who has dugg my posts today, and who has dugged “Circles” especially and voted for it on Yearblook. I’m trying to win the June $100 Prize for having the most popular post in June. Almost every time I open a digg page I am logged out. After I log in, I can click on link, but then am logged out even on that page. I am not able to add links or anything because I keep being told to log in… *grumble* I do not have this kind of problem with any other site, and I’ve tested in on all three of my computers and it is doing it to all three… Is anyone else having this problem?

This is definitely a good job well done. I have added over 180 friends from this post and I still intend to add all others.

However, just as several individuals wanted to mis-use the Entrecard System and would have succeeded if not for strict regulations, so we must guide against this idea becoming a negative tool.

I consider it embarrassing when a member of this group goes to a blog and drop a comment such as

“I dug this post, I will like you to reciprocate by digging mine”

That has a very negative impact on other readers visiting such website as they will simply assume that the number of COMMENTS, DIGGS and other statistics presented on the blog were gotten through BLACK HAT TRAFFIC TRICKS.

Please draw up a little Do and Don’ts for the group less the whole effort become a waste.
