Announcing the Partnership of Entrecard and SezWho
Written on July 15th, 2008 by Graham
A Web 2.0 Mission
Ever since Entrecard launched 8 months ago (which feels like 8 years in internet time) I have been obsessed with challenging myself to use the resources I have at my disposal to help bloggers reach their loftiest goals of traffic, audience, readership and community participation. I’ve immersed myself in researching what makes a blog successful, what makes people congregate at a given blog and how blogs are discovered. In the two semesters since I dropped out of college to devote myself to building Entrecard, I’ve been on the “streets of the internet” enrolled in blog school full-time to study what makes a blog rise to the top.
In all my research and my studies, in all the conversations I’ve had with bloggers who’ve made it, I have learned a single most-important lesson. It is the secret, the KEY to a blog’s success. It is the secret of Comments.
Commenting is the second most important thing for you to do after writing quality posts. Here’s a saying to live by, and you can quote me: “Comment or get out of the Blogosphere” -for it is on other blogs that you plant a first impression and the seeds of a reputation. It is precisely through your comments that you interest others to visit your blog. How do you reach a blogger’s heart and the heart of their audience? Comment on their blog, and do it well.
For Months, I was plagued with a question
How do I get bloggers to understand that it is their comments that pave their road to success? How do I drive that message home in a powerful way that shows real results? How do I create a CULTURE in which commenting is just as important as writing a post?
Entrecard now serves hundreds of thousands of blogger-to-blogger visits every day. The number of visits we send between blogs per week measures in the millions, and by the time I am finished writing this post, it will have grown bigger still. Yet, for some reason, the comments are not flowing like honey. I see great posts, thought provoking and well written posts, that are only receiving a single comment, and you know what that tells me? Blogging is a broken system. It breaks my heart to see awesome posts sit around, devoid of comments -and why? Because the the author doesn’t know SEO? Because they don’t spend money to advertise? Because the people that would comment are slightly too lazy to do it?
Whatever the reason was, it was making me sick. I knew there was an answer to all this. And I had a strong feeling I could use Entrecard to solve it.
I Found the Answer, But…
Yes, I found the answer. It was staring me in the face the whole time. The same credits that power our culture responsible for millions of blogger-to-blogger visits each week could certainly help power a culture that comments on posts as well. But, to do this right though, I knew I couldn’t go it alone. I knew I needed to partner with someone in the comment space. I needed a comment platform to team up with that had advanced anti-spam features in place, capable of discerning the diamonds from the trash. A comment platform that integrated with Wordpress, Blogger, and the other platforms out there. I needed to partner with someone who enhances a blog’s existing comment system, and shares the vision of improving the system still and getting the comments flowing on all the great posts out there.
Well, we found a partner folks. Without further ado, Entrecard has partnered with SezWho to launch your blog to new heights. The day has arrived for us to take our blogs, and our commenting skills, to the next level.
Why Sezwho?
SezWho was chosen out of all the other comment platforms available for very good reasons. First SezWho takes an industry-leading stance on data rights whereby you still OWN your comments, and your comments are still on your site. Other platforms hijack your comments, and use it as a back-door to compete with you for pageviews -but not SezWho.
Second, the SezWho system is so robust, so powerful, that your comments are leveraged tremendously via their suite of features, to deliver an incredible amount of exposure and traffic. A great comment left with SezWho will bring in the traffic and readers of 10 comments left via traditional means. Just as a quick example, with SezWho, you can actually SUBSCRIBE to the comments of someone you like, and get updated as they comment across the entire web -and then join them in the discussion at whatever blogs they travel to.
What about Disqus, or JS-Kit, or Intense Debate?
If Entrecard is going to do this, we’re going to do this right, and we’re going to do it the best, by partnering with the best. If you are currently using JS-Kit, Disqus or Intense Debate, you will have to uninstall them and install SezWho in order to participate in our new commenting system. Trust us though, you’ll be glad you did.
How it Works
The overall plan is to reward you with credits when you leave great quality comments on other members’ blogs.
Step 1: Watch the Video
First, you’re going to go directly to THIS VIDEO to see exactly what SezWho does and why I’m so excited. Watch the whole thing, it’s critical to your understanding and it isn’t too long. SezWho is an amazing platform that does wonders. I couldn’t be more proud to be teamed up with them, because even if we weren’t partnered I would still recommend that every blogger use them.
Step 2: Register with SezWho via Entrecard Dashboard
Whether you use Blogger, Wordpress, MovableType, Drupal etc., SezWho has you covered. You can register for SezWho right from your Entrecard dashboard. All you need to do is enter your
- Email address
- Blog URL
- Display Name as you would like it to appear in your comments
After you fill out these three quick fields, click submit. You will instantly receive an email from SezWho containing your login information for SezWho, and a link to download and install SezWho on your blog.
If you’ve already registered for SezWho before today, you will still need to fill out this form, to link your account to SezWho via email address and url.
Step 3: Installing SezWho on your blog
In the email that SezWho provided you, they included a link to the download page. The download page is here.
- If you have Wordpress, you’re going to download the plugin, upload it to your plugin folder, and activate.
- If you have Blogger, you’re going to add a page element HTML/Javascript and paste some code. You don’t need to re-register if you’ve already registered through Entrecard. Also please note that if you have Blogger, SezWho takes a few hours to crawl and start sending notifications to us.
- If you have Movable Type 3.3 or 4 …oh who are we kidding, no one has Movable Type.
Make sure you install SezWho on your blog, because you won’t get credits for your comments, and others won’t get credits for their comments, unless SezWho is installed.
Step 4: Rating Comments and Earning $-Credits-$
Once SezWho is installed on your blog, and you’ve registered your account with Entrecard (see Step 2), you will now start earning credits when you leave comments, and others will earn credits when they comment on your blog, dramatically increasing the frequency with which your blog gets commented.
However, we wouldn’t want people running around and writing “nice post” on every blog they see, trying to game the system and earn credits. So the community will be responsible for rating comments, and rating them truthfully. Depending on how well your comments get rated, and who rates them, your comments will earn you a sliding reward ranging from 1 to 10 credits. If your comments get rated poorly, especially by a blog’s owner, you won’t earn a thing.
We are not going to disclose all the details, but we do have some secret tricks that make sure credits are going to people who deserve them, and not to people who are “spamming” comments. Basically just make the comments as good as you can, and you’ll be rewarded.
We’re counting on you: The whole community needs to work together to rate comments truthfully and accurately. We’ll each be setting our own standard for what is a good comment, what is a great comment, and what is spam. Marking any comment two stars or less is, effectively, marking them as spam.
As a final note, if we suspect that you aren’t using this system as intended, we reserve the right to fully revoke your blog’s privileges to issue credits for comments, and your ability to earn credits for comments.
Questions and Answers
When do I get the credits?
You won’t get credits until 24 hours has elapsed from the time you left a given comment. This is to give them enough of a window to get a few ratings, and to give the blog owner an opportunity to mark comments as spam (a rating of 1) before issuing any credits. You can also earn credits for a given comment over the next three days after you leave it, if it gets rated higher and higher over a few days.
How many credits do I get?
You’ll get a sliding range of credits, from 1-10 for each comment. You might not get all the credits right away, and you’ll never get them before 24 hours has elapsed for your comment. However, you may earn additional credits over a period of days after you’ve left a comment. It all depends on how the community reacts to your comments and how well they get rated and by whom. Very few people will ever get the full 10 credits for their comment, but it should be relatively easy to get 5 credits with a good quality comment.
How do I find Entrecard blogs with SezWho?
Because you only get credits for commenting on SezWho-enabled blogs, we’re making it very easy for you to find them. We added a fancy checkbox to the Entrecard browser, so you can choose to browse through sites specifically with comments enabled. You will now be able to browse blogs in your favorite niche, and see instantly which ones you can comment on for extra credit!
What is a good quality comment?
We’re going to have a few workshops on this over the next few weeks on the Entrecard blog. Basically, a good quality comment is relative to the post itself, and adds value, whether it is informational value or entertainment value. But it is always relevant to the post. Quality comments also quite frequently take the form of debate with other commentators.
How many Comments can I leave? How many Credits can I earn?
You can earn 15 for-credit comments per day. By default, these will be the first 15 comments you leave on SezWho enabled blogs. You can only leave one comment on a given blog for credit each day. The maximum possible number of credits you can earn by commenting is 150, and you can now earn a total of 350 credits per day.
The objective is to make valuable contributions to others’ posts, and fast track your blog to success.
The credits we give you per comment bridge the gap between your desire to comment and the effort required to actually leave a comment. It will serve as a daily reminder that you should be commenting on blogs that interest you. It will give you a push to go above and beyond your normal comment, and make the best comment you can. Exploring blogs in your niche, making valuable contributions to them, and forging new relationships should be a routine, not a rarity. After all, super-bloggers are made, not born.
A beautiful trend
Once this whole thing gets going, what we’re going to see is more and more members pro-actively using Entrecard to find blogs that are interesting to them, because good comments will only come when you read posts that are interesting to you personally. This will dramatically increase the quality of the traffic across the board for all of Entrecard.
That’s right boys and girls, the times are changing!
We’re not here to waste our time. We’re here to become successful bloggers and that means playing by new rules. SezWho and Entrecard together will help your blog make waves. You will look back on this day as the day when you’re blog’s community bounded forward in one enormous leap. It’s the day everything changes. With SezWho and Entrecard on your team, the spotlight shines on your comments as they step out onto the stage, front and center. The comments flow on your blog in a way you never thought possible.
So make those comments good, helpful, informative, witty, and entertaining. Make em sparkle because your comments will earn you a REPUTATION and a FOLLOWING across the blogosphere.
A Little Clarification: What this is Vs. What this isn’t
This is NOT a call to go comment when you haven’t read a post, or a plea to leave comments that have little or no value. That’s called spam and it has no place in our system. Commenting is perhaps the single most powerful strategy to drive traffic to your blog -when you do it right. Comments that are contrived or spammy will only hurt you and your brand, and they sure won’t earn you any credits.
This is the Entrecard School of Blogging
Today marks a distinctive direction for the Entrecard community as a whole. As of today, we’re collectively enrolling in a crash course in creating the best comments possible. It’s as much a learning experience as it is the development of a new skill. You will have to ask yourself “How can I add value to this post with a comment?” and challenge yourself to deliver. At the end of the day, it’s not the credits that matter. It’s the skills and reputation you’re developing. I have no doubt that a year from now, Entrecarders will be the best commentators in the blogosphere. That’s exciting, because if you have the best commentators in the blogosphere commenting on your blog routinely, it is going to add so much value to your blog that visitors and casual readers of your blog will be amazed. And don’t forget, we’re going to get there together. Full tutorials and workshops exploring what makes for the best comments will be following on the EC blog. Our comments will be in a league of their own.

Entrecard – driving bloggers to succeed

*Disclaimer: No financial compensation of any kind was transacted between Entrecard and SezWho for this partnership.
Participation with SezWho is completely optional. The choice is 100% up to you whether or not you install SezWho on your blog. If you choose not to install it, bloggers will not earn credits when they comment on your blog, and you will not earn credits when you comment on other blogs.

I have custom Sezwho baseballs on my site made by Turnip.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:16 am
This is an excellent addition to entrecard! Really impressive program you have setup here with sezwho. Heading over to signup now. Kudos to the staff for bringing more valuable features to an already addicting place
July 15th, 2008 at 11:19 am
all my comments are gold – so I assume this will be right up my alley!
July 15th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Well.. I certainly didn’t see that coming. Great partnership, I’ve seen SezWho on a few blogs but didn’t think anythig of it. Very informative video too, but I wouldn’t say that it’s not that long =P.
I have to mull over the pros and cons before joining – plus the entrecard registration page is returning a ‘page not found’ error at the moment anyway.
Great job guys!
July 15th, 2008 at 11:21 am
wow….that is REALLY cool
July 15th, 2008 at 11:21 am
the page not found has been fixed
to register just go to

[...] For more information, Graham has posted a lengthy announcement on the Entrecard blog. Check out the official announcement of the partnership between Entrecard and Sezwho. [...]
July 15th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Never heard of Sezwho but have registered! Awesome! I’m integrating it now on my blog.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:24 am
The benefits of joining are:
1.) You’re listed on our site as comments-enabled, so you’ll get more exposure from Entrecard
2.) You’ll naturally earn credits from the comments you leave
3.) You’ll get lots more comments
July 15th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Hmmm… while this idea has merit, and additional credits are good I’m not sure I’m on board with this. I prefer not to add any incentive for comments on my blogs to tell you the truth. Right now the comments are 100% based on the fact that I’ve written something that has moved them to comment without any type of incentive. No “bribe” involved, so to speak. But I’ll mull it over some more I guess.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Very very interesting updates in Entrecard family. I really hope this new method will bring our traffic rankings to a new level. I can’t ask anymore. Thanks a lot for providing such a saver for new bloggers like me.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Interesting. What data will this sezwho gather??
July 15th, 2008 at 11:30 am
It’s not a “bribe” in any way. It’s a reward for leaving really great comments that others find useful and that add value. Plain, quick, uninspired comments won’t receive credits.
It’s not an across-the-board thing where people can just comment and rack up tons of credits. They have to comment on something they’ve read, that they enjoy, that they have a genuine opinion on to earn those credits.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Can I get the Cliff Notes version of this? I’m at work, tired and bored and each word looked like a huge blur.
On a good note, I do have SezWho already. I’m excited to see where all this goes.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Wow great to see Sezwho here too
Was using it in my blog since the last 2 weeks..
Good change there Graham!
July 15th, 2008 at 11:33 am
This all sounds great!
I do have one complaint. Would you stop adding cool new things right when I have to leave the house for the day? Now I will be wanting to come home and set this up all day long.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:34 am
@Monique:
Cliff notes:
1.) Install SezWho on your blog
2.) Notify Entrecard that you have SezWho here: http://entrecard.com/sezwho_register
3.) You’ll earn credits when you comment on others’ blogs
4.) Others will earn credits when they comment on your blog.
Conclusion:
You’ll earn more credits and get more comments!
July 15th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Entrecard campaign/browser is not working. I want to see how the new comments-enabled images look like. Hope this can be fixed soon. I will be more comments active person after this. Will install the new plugin for my blogspot by today.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Hearty welcome to the Entrecard community! Hope everybody has a great experience using SezWho.

Hmm – not sure how I feel about rewarding comments. In any case, not available for my blog platform so I guess it’s a non-issue for me.

I am sooooooooo excited I needed to comment before reading the entire post! I will go back and read the rest now but first let me say:
Woo Hoo for Sezwho!!!
Well done Graham. Now make sure you stay on to do your PhD at Blogging School since you’re training us to expect more and more from you
Excitedly, Lucy
July 15th, 2008 at 11:43 am
So quick question… these “credits” — are they EntreCard credits just like the ones we get for dropping, or are these a different kind of credit?
July 15th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I am not too sure I understand how effective it is going to be for the EC community. The best way to find out is to give it a try, so I will enroll in sezwho.
Remi
July 15th, 2008 at 11:48 am
PS
Re bribe – Hardly! I see it as an incentive to encourage people to write something meaningful, something that would add to the overall reading experience of blog readers and writers.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:49 am
And if we don’t use one of the approved blogging platforms (I use Joomla) we’re out in the cold?
There is no incentive then for commenters on my blog. That will drive traffic to blogs where someone can get extra credits for comments and away from blogs like mine.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:50 am
But tell me Graham. Does this system follows on all the blogs, including those that don’t even have SEZwho but are entrecarders members.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Ever since I added the KeyWordLuv WordPress plugin in shankrila.com, the comments have gone through the roof. But, this might be a better option on a blog in its infancy to start attracting comments. I am definitely signing up.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:51 am
@Remi
I cannot say anything about the success of this. But one thing for sure. Commenting surely boosts blogging. And if this change is able to increase quality comments then nothing like this.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Excellent partnership! This plugins will change the way bloggers communicate with each other. Since I’ve already used it and experienced it for a while now, I’ll say that it has changed my blogging world.
The one that I love about it is that I can check and refer what the commentators are saying at the other blogs. Sometimes I check for spam with it. If I found out that the same person that’s commenting at my blog has commented with the same comment at all the other blog, then I’ll definitely know that it’s a spam comment.
In addition to all that, now I can get credits for commenting and I can also get credits when someone else leave a comment, cool! I really love that!
July 15th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Oh great my comment got lost.
Sheesh.
I use haloscan, will it work?
Does anyone besides me think the stars are just too much and ugly the place up?
How ugly am I willing to be to get new readers?
The comment woulda been better but the first one got gobbled.
Sheesh.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:56 am
I was getting really excited about this until I read the snot-nosed immature remark about Movable Type. Grow up.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Graham’s post has convinced me to activate comments on my blog.
Unfortunately, SezWho does not yet support Tumblr. I eagerly await the day when it does though.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
I think this is a great idea for encouraging droppers to really think twice before they do the old deed of “drop and run”. Results may remain to be seen but from my standpoint it has potential of making a real healthy community here in EC. Kudos to you Graham!
July 15th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
This might serve as a good motivation for some to think twice before spamming other’s blog. If the a comment is thumbed down, others will see it and notice that the commenter is consider a spammer. I’m going to give this a shot. Thanks for the great idea. Cheers.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Graham,
I just read this post and it is probably one of the first ones that I’ve read on this blog all the way through. Comments are incredibly important and are something that I strive cultivate on my blog. I am interested in adding SezWho to my blogs but I hope that I can still use other plug ins like the comment e-mail responder as I make sure I comment back to each person who takes the time to leave me a comment. Will I still be able to use that plug in with SezWho?
July 15th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Well. the non conformist in me is going to have to wait and buck this “trend” right now. You guys have fun.
I use Intense debate on two of my blogs and have been very satisfied so far with them.
Beamer
July 15th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
@ Graham
Oh that was perfect!! I followed those notes and now it’s fully running on my site.
Thank you!
July 15th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
@BenSpark,
Yes, you should be able to use that plugin as well. SezWho doesn’t replace any element of your existing comment system -it just straps on some extra gear.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
@chetan – They have to have sezwho installed on their blog in order for it to be tracked, I’m pretty sure.
@ JunkieYard – To clarify, you don’t earn credits when people comment on your blog. You only earn when you make comments.
To those that are using platforms not supported – You can request they support your platform by visiting:
http://www.sezwho.com/download.php and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Obviously the more requests they get for a specific platform, the more likely they will develop it.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Innovative! I love it. Will be checking it out when I get back from holiday.
Keep it up.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
This is great news. If I had only waited a bit before leaving so many comments last night, right?
Anyway, are credits dispersed to the email address or the blog URL? Because, I have 3 blogs on EC, but generally when leaving a comment use only one of those email addresses. It doesn’t particularly matter since I am getting credits anyway…. was just curious.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Hey Graham,
Is this <a href=”http://www.adampieniazek.com/technology/900-free-entrecard-credits/#comment-10718″the big announcement you hinted at on my blog a little while back? If so, it is big and is encouraging me to stay! One of the great things about Entrecard, at first, was the increased comments I saw but over time the act of getting credits became a chore. This new system of receiving credits for comments is way better and rewards me for something I already do!
July 15th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
The video was worth it… it answered my initial questions. Here’s some other questions:
- I know there is SEO value of me leaving comments on other blogs (with my URL link), but is there SEO value for my own blog if others leave comments on my site? Does Google reward social commentary?
- Should I disable Blogger commenting in favor of SezWho? Non-SezWho members can still leave anonymous comments, right?
- We will probably see Digg comments decrease, because of everyone’s time constraints?
Thanks!
Dan
July 15th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
this combo is good……….. i have registered and looking forward to make some symbiotic contribution for our community.
July 15th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Dan,
- SEO question – Yeah there is SEO value of comments on your blog too…Comments keep your content fresh and fresh content is rated higher by all search engines.
- SezWho is no a comment replacement system…Its a add on to the existing blogger commenting system…No need to replace your commenting system and lose SEO value.
Thanks, Jitendra
July 15th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
At least it is better than those disgus kinda things..
July 15th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
This is an awesome partnership! Creates motivation for people to leave for comments, but it’s not a bribe as some mentioned, as if you leave a comment that sucks you will receive little or no credits.
Now the only thing I have to do is choose whether I want to use Gravatars or the avatar from SezWho.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
I feel this is one of the best partnerships this community could have made. It’s a win/win situation for both bloggers and droppers.
Bloggers will actually get their readers to read their content (or skim it better) so when the reader leaves a comment, it’ll be something more then “good point” and readers will be rewarded for leaving good feedback for bloggers.
I like how it even added a rating system to my blog which I have been looking for for a while now.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
This looks good for EC and the community. One thing is I tried to log in here on this forum post to rate a comment and my password wasn’t accepted. I saw somebody else had the same problem in the forums. I went directly to the Sezwho site and logged in with no problem – so you might have a bug here.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
This looks very interesting. I just added to my blog. Thanks for checking it out!
July 15th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Graham, I think this is another home run for the EntreCard Community, and this is much simpler than using Digg. All these tools that you are putting out there for us are awesome and a huge asset for bloggers.
thanks again!
July 15th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Up and running with Sezwho (except for that script, which just will not work!) and pretty excited about this partnership with Ec. I just wonder though how much more time I am going to spend at the computer as a result!
July 15th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
This is great news. I’m posting about it now.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Graham,
I have the same issue as Jennifer Robin:
I had to uninstall the code. It was screwing up the display of my posts and sidebar in both Firefox and IE. The Ratings stars were appearing underneath the post in the black space between the posts. The first line from my TOp EntreCard Droppers Widget was appearing below my post, and the insertion of the SezWho icon disrupted my post footer formatting.
Is there any way to overcome these issues? If not, I can’t use SezWho.
Additionally, the script does not rate comments, it seems to rate the posts.
Thanks!
July 15th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
You have made a good choice in a partnership and I look forward to Entrecard becoming more of a community wholeheartedly dedicated to the helping of small to mid sized blogs. Good work.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Comments rock my world! I applauded the whole first part of this post…until I got the part where it only works with Blogger and WordPress?
And the part about how many points earned/day. 150 comment credits, but what’s the 350? Comments plus drops total?
I’m going to see if I can make this work with TypePad & report back.
July 15th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Hey Matt,
Jitendra from SezWho here.
Apologize for the issues here…Can you enable the script for some time and we will address the issues you are seeing…Sometimes we need to tweak the CSS to make it work with some themes.
Thanks,
Jitendra

I’ll be happy to enable the script for the next 24 hours. If you can make it work, I’d really appreciate it…if not, I’ll have to take it down because it’s really distracting and is affecting my other widgets and my theme.
Thanks for your help!

More comments, especially quality comments, are always welcome on my blogs!
I just have a clarification question – the 150 ec earned total for comments – is this earned total “forever” or annually, or during what time frame? Just a bit confused on that.
I understand that ec earned per day now is 350, up from 300.
My only critique of Entrecard is that I wish there was a more reasonable top cap on ad price. If we can earn 350 ec per day, but many popular blogs cost 2000+ ec or even 4000+ ec, that’s just out of my regular ec ad-purchasing budget. I rarely spend more than 256 ec per ad, because I know I cannot earn that many ec per day. Anyway, just my ramble here – my real question is to clarify on the 150 ec via credits.
Looks like an interesting new system, will try it out.
July 15th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
“and others will earn credits when they comment on your blog”
@EntreBlast. Thanks for the clarifications.
I must be dizzy when I read that. It says “others” not me. LOL

DOes anyone know how to remove the sezwho images? I already have Gravatar on my blog
July 15th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
When I signed up for Entrecard, I didn’t know what to expect. I kept reading that it’s important to be part of the community. After the latest announcement, I can see why. You guys are truly coming up with innovative and legitimate ways to encourage communal participation. This latest SeoWho partnership is great. I didn’t know about the power of the tool and I’m starting to get it! Thanks for looking out for us.

This idea could be bigger than the Digg idea.
Getting more quality comments on a blog is what we’re all about as bloggers.
My suggestion for the next project or partnership is to get EntreCarders into using StumbleUpon which, in my opinion, provides better traffic than Digg.
July 15th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

My first blog is registered. Ok, silly me but I have to ask. I have four blogs. Do I register each one through each of the dashboards or is there a page I can just add the blogs to all at one time? The code came back with the script and password so does that mean I have to have four different passwords? Oiy, my head is hurting trying to figure this one out. It sounds great if you you only have one blog to worry about. Please help.

Hello Jitendra, I have posted a question in the forum. (Wordpress issues)
July 15th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
@Saif270
Sezwho already encompasses images from multiple sources including gravatar.
At this moment, we do not have a simple Sezwho image on/off switch. There are two options to tweak this:
1. By disabling the auto-layout feature in the Sezwho plugin configuration and directly modifying the template as per instructions at http://sezwho.com/install_wp_d.php#template
OR
2. Disabling gravatar from the template.

Indus

You have to get the keys for the individual blogs. You can do that by adding the blogs on http://sezwho.com/myaccount.php page. You’ll notice an “Add Blog” link at the bottom. It will send an email with the blog key (and an additional javascript scriptlet if it’s a blogger blog)

I’ve just finished installing SezWho on my blog (and deactivating gravatars
), but unfortunately I can’t get SezWho to upload my avatar. It seems like it’s working, but after I press “crop” it just doesn’t upload
July 15th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
I think this an interesting change. Considering the vast number of splogs listed by EC, I’m not holding my breath for “worthwhile” comments.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
@Steveo
We work night and day removing splogs from the system, and pride ourselves knowing that there is certainly not a “vast majority” of splogs. Maybe a few have slipped through the cracks, but thats it.
If you EVER find a splog, please report them from their profile and just type the word “Splog” in the reason for the report. It will be gone by the days’ end, this I promise.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
I have installed it already but in one of my blogs the stars do not show up…anyway, I’m happy with the first blog.
Thanks for supporting our efforts to maximize our blogs.

Hey Graham,
Looking forward to the great relationship between Entrecard and SezWho. I installed the script and I will watch as all the comments pile up and lead us all to Blogger heaven!
July 15th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Seems like a good idea…IF you have enough free time to do your daily drops AND post comments on dozens of different blogs. Unfortunately, I don’t — in fact, just cranking out 2-3 posts per week is a bit of a challenge for me at the moment — and that’s why I’m going to pass on this, at least for now.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Ok, thank Indus. Now I installed the code on my cooking blog as it came down first but I can’t see where it is working. I followed the instructions for blogger. It’s there just not working. The url is http://momskitchencookingblogspot.com and I put the code right above the first picture on the side bar at the very top but I don’t see anything and even when I check entries with comments.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
Oops, above URL was wrong…sorry.
July 15th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
@WTF
Hey man, more power to you. I’m glad you have your priorities in line – creating good content. Just know that if you don’t want to drop, there is another option to earn credits quicker, and with more long term residual value to your blog than dropping.
July 15th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
I get bad concious when I read about creating good content. Lately I’ve been procrastinating (is that right written?) and commented, written in forums etc instead of posting to my blogs. I need to get a grip.
I post to my photoblog though, but that is easy.
July 15th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
“to earn credits quicker, and with more long term residual value to your blog than dropping.”
That is exactly why I am stoked about this! I don’t like making to dropping rounds but it seemed that was the only way to earn credits… If I can only visit the blogs I love reading and earn the enough credits to make EC advertising possible I’ll be happy!

@Jitendra
Thanks! That works for me.
July 15th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
wow! this is an awesome project! i have been actively dropping at other entrecard blogs recently but have realized how somewhat a little inefficient it can be when after dropping the card, you leave like nothing happened. i wanted to comment but felt like it might help me more by spending the rest of the time just dropping more cards to other blogs. now, this new entrecard and sezwho project will definitely add value to all the deserving blogs out there. this is so good! i will definitely make a post about this and encourage every other entrecard member to follow suit.. cheers and more power!
July 15th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Okay, I’ve installed it over at my place. I also added the badge right under my EC widget so that other droppers will know I’ve got it installed on my blog. I am hoping that this is a helpful tool for all involved. If anyone drops by, please let me know what you think. I hope it doesn’t slow down load time.
July 15th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
I added this plugin to my site. One question though…Is there a method of editing the images to match the site better? I’m not really feeling the default ones. Looks good though and this system sounds promising.
July 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
This is awesome! For someone who is already commenting often, it is a bonus! I’ve added it. *raring to go….*
July 15th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I’ve been thinking about joining Sez-Who and enabling it on my blog for a while. I’m not one to jump into social media websites without any information. I’ll see if I can get signed up shortly. It also looks as though Entrecard is becoming more of a “Social Media” site than just an advertising network! I love it!
July 15th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
A very long waiting useful tool has ended……
July 15th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
This is just damn spiffy. I love SezWho, and let me say that when I was having issues with installing SezWho on my Drupal 6.2 install, their techs were in CONSTANT communications with me, sending me patched files to try. They went WAAAY above and beyond the call, and I can’t honestly remember another time that I’ve had such amazing tech support.
So… What if we already have SezWho installed on our blog? Do we get anything for being an “early adopter?” haha.. No, seriously though, will EC track us just the same as those who are just now signing up through EC?

July 15th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I have to say, so far I’ve supported everything that you’ve done here Graham, but this I just can’t stand behind.
Rewarding comments is all fine and good, but forcing the hand into SezWho isn’t my cup of tea. I don’t personally like SezWho, and will continue to go forward with Disqus on my blog regardless of credits to be had.
Tsk.
July 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Well it’s up to you whether you want to join SezWho or not. I’m willing to give it a try as having some incentives to interact more with your readers is a “why-not?” to me

this is just awesome! now people wth sezwho+entrecard will more likely comment on my blog
July 15th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Oh great, now we need a comment rating system to get people to do what they should be doing anyway…. commenting on the interesting posts……. Now all they are gonna do is just write something that they think will be interesting enough to earn them a couple of points. But will their comments really mean anything? Will their comments add value to your blog? Maybe, maybe not. What about those who don’t buy into this gimmick? Is everyone gonna click away from those blogs that aren’t sexwho enabled just because they think they can get an extra EC credit? I kinda think this is dumb, but I could be wrong.!?
Say for instance: Maria writes about her cute new puppy and how it loves to fetch a ball. You sit there and try to make a nice comment to say how cute her puppy is and how neat it is that it can do tricks….. but the whole time your thinking damn that dog is ugly and fetching a ball isn’t anything all that great. You’ve just lied to earn a point and wasted a whole lot of time that you could have spent doing something else.
I think rewarding comments like this for credits is about as dumb as the thumbs up thumbs down thing for comments on youtube.
Can anyone make me see any real value in this?
July 15th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
This is such a neat partnership. I just joined in the contest and I totally support Entrecard. Thanks for never ceasing to find even greater ways to help bloggers get quality traffic to our site. This is exactly what EntreCard has been missing. When I first signed up for EntreCard, I was expecting to see more comments, instead I saw people fleeting by my blog just dropping a card and probably not reading a word I wrote. Now as they know they get rewarded for commenting, maybe it feels more worth while to do so – even though I think it should come naturally really. I really wish this works the treat!

Hmmm,
This sounds mighty interesting. I tried Intense Debate but removed because of the heavy javascript load and the fact that they take your comments off site.
I will definitely give this a go. But above all I’d really love people to comment on my sites – tell me if they like my stuff, if they like my layouts etc.
At the moment I jealously look at blogs with prolific, quality comments and drool with envy. That’s why I do this – to get some meaningful interaction with an audience.

July 16th, 2008 at 7:29 am
@shawn: You need to download the plug-in separately on the download page at SezWho site
Maybe we need a small SezWho logo somewhere on our Entrecard Widget so that the dropper can quickly see if a blog has the SezWho installed?
July 16th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Jitendra,
Nothing has changed for the positive except that the rating stars now appear on my post instead of in the background between the posts.
On the negative, three things. Internet Explorer can not open my page now without having to abort. Garg from Lucent Dusk reported this to me when he tried opening my site using IE 6. The same thing happened to me using IE 7.
Also, in Firefox, the code is causing my widgets to display in correctly, copying a portion of my google top entrecarder widget to appear at the bottom of my posts.
Finally, the rating stars appear at the bottom of my post, not with the comments, so even if I left the code installed, no comment on my site would ever be rated.
I think it’s great that SezWho and EntreCard have formed this partnership. What I think is horrible is that this was done without making sure the software was thoroughly tested. I think there will be EntreCard users who won’t be able to take advantage of this partnership, such as myself, and I will lose a key feature of EntreCard that was meant to help drive traffic to my site and encourage the generation of high quality comments.
I’m very disappointed in this development. And because of the Critical Abort Errors in Internet Explorer, I have to remove the SezWho Script.

Still no word as to why it is not working for blogger?
It shows up to rate my post and not my comments. Is there a code to put right into the HTML so it can be in the correct area?
I have also found a LOT of blogs I have been going to drop at showing up as “unable to open” or “stack overflow”.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:47 am

“If you are currently using JS-Kit, Disqus or Intense Debate, you will have to uninstall them and install SezWho in order to participate in our new commenting system. Trust us though, you’ll be glad you did.”
Such strong words. No thanks. I prefer Disqus or Intense Debate.
You see, it isn’t about “which is the best” or “uninstall that, it not ‘best’”. It is about choice, it is about defragmentation of comments.
Telling people to “uninstall JS-Kit, Disqus, or Intense Debate” is inviting a war to spark up in the Comments Space. Is that what Entrecard is after for saying such a statement?
Don’t get me wrong here. SezWho is great, I highly recommend it to all Community Forums, Wikis, etc. but your statement is over and crossing-the-line the already.
Leave the choice to the bloggers. You sound it like blogs not using SezWho will die.
So much hatred against Disqus, JS-Kit, and Intense Debate.
I say, uninstall Entrecard, the service that is trying to start a war between innocent companies offering great services.

It looks like they have teamed up to give blog commenters credits for quality comments that they leave on blogs. This will be great because so many people simply read a post and move on. If you’re an entrecard member please drop your card on the right. I check my drops about every day and visit sites of people who leave me drops. Here is an excerpt from the e-mail I received: It is my absolute pleasure to announce Entrecard’s official partnership with SezWho. SezWho is the web’s best comment application for your blog. For Entrecard members, SezWho is going to increase the quality of your Entrecard traffic 100 times as all your droppers start to leave comments, and it will give you an exciting new way to earn credits by leaving valuable comments on each others’ blogs. It is working well with my blog. Giving points to people who comment is better than to those who just come, drop and go.
Even with this points for commenting, I still don’t comment on posts I don’t find interesting thouggh. But it sure encourages me to stop and comment on posts that I like even when I’m in a hurry.
Great move Graham.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Good move for Entrecard. It now makes comments meaningful and positively adds to the blogging community. Having incentives to read blogs and leave comments is always a good motivator. Although PLAYTHERE.com will not benefit as comments are off, we will certainly leave useful comments on blogs we visit.
Who knows, this may drive PLAYTHERE.com to investigate how to best incorporate comments.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I had sezwho running already. But filled the form anyway. How will I know if my blog is added to the comments enabled blog list?
Thanks in advance
July 16th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Very well thought, congratulations. Certainly compensating the people with entrecredits for each comment they leave in other blogs, it’s a good way to incentive the people to leave comments.
And what you say it’s truth, people will not comment (I hope so) spam because they will be poorly rated and they will not earn credits.
Great partnership, congrats again.

This is way cool! It’s been a day or two since I last logged into my EC account and was thrilled to see SezWho here now. I had installed it a few weeks ago and was wondering how to use it effectively.
July 16th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Entrecard has helped apply leverage to the traffic rank for so many new blogs, as well as providing a supportive environment for a thriving community to develop and grow.
The new partnership with SezWho demonstrates Entrecard’s refusal to sit on its laurels, as it continues to improve.
This latest evolutionary spurt promises tremendous potential, and although I’m currently wrestling with a conflict prob between SezWho and 4Avatars on my Wordpress platform, no worries, I’ll work through it!

I had never heard of Sez-Who before EntreCard introduced me to them. I’ve been using the system for a few days now, and I have to say that I absolutely love it. It really adds personal interaction to my comments, and I would use Sez-Who even if there were no EC incentives offered. I only wish I’d found this earlier. So far, I’ve been less than impressed with SezWho. I like the idea of it synchronizing with comments on my site, so that I maintain control over my own comments. However, my site is based on Drupal and their Drupal integration seems particularly weak.
I’ve spent a bit of time trying to get SezWho to work properly with Drupal and so far, it is way to unreliable.
