Long outage due to datacenter failure

Just a quick note, Graham will provide more detail later but the long outage we had was due to our database server being taken offline by an explosion on ThePlanet’s H1 datacenter. The data remained intact, however the system could not be powered on or connected until now. This outage affected many sites, not just Entrecard, although obviously the biggest sites had redundant systems they could shift to – we’re a little small for that trick yet.

Will there be any kind of adjustment for lost ad credits on a series of a high cost blogs yesterday, or an extension of the gold featured status that I purchased? I think this affects everyone here. Or are we all out of luck? Of course this wasn’t your fault, but it’s not ours either.

I was really grateful to read that nobody was hurt during the explosion. It kinda sucked being down all day yesterday but I do understand it was beyond your control and thanks for posting the link to PlanetForum so we could read updates.

Ads that were rotated into place prior to the outage were displaying during it. Ads that rotated in afterwards will display for their full 24 hours before moving on.
Featured status users can send me a PM if they were affected and I’ll extend their status.
