New ways to earn and spend Entrecard credits!

Written on July 30th, 2009 by Cindy

Hi Entrecard Members!

We are excited to announce several new updates to Entrecard!  Many of you have been looking for ways to spend your credits and to network with your fellow Entrecard bloggers.  Search no more!  We would like to introduce our new “Marketplace” in the community forum.  Here you can earn and spend credits by posting contests or promotions and selling banner or text ads on your blog to other EC members.  To allow you to spend and receive more credits with other members, we have increased the amount of credits you can transfer between users from 1,000 credits to 25,000 credits!  This is our first step in facilitating a more open marketplace.  Visit the Marketplace at forums.entrecard.com and make a posting today!

We hope that opening the Marketplace will allow users to network and exchange credits with other bloggers.  Stay tuned for updates.

Goodbye, Paid Ads

Written on July 22nd, 2009 by Cindy

Dear Entrecard Members,

My name is Cindy and I am the new Director of Business Development for Entrecard.  I will be representing the Entrecard team in future posts and will be relaying information about new Entrecard changes and updates to users.  I am excited to be working for Entrecard and look forward to reading your opinions and comments about Entrecard services.

We are making great progress with the transition and have come up with several ways to refine needed Entrecard services.  I would like to inform you about two important changes.

Effective immediately, we will no longer accept applications for “paid ads” on your widget space.   Based on user comments and blog posts, users have not been happy with the “paid ads” that was implemented a few months ago.  Although a good portion of the revenue (75%) is given back to the users through the “credit cashout program,” we have found that most users would prefer not to have “paid ads” on their widgets at all.  As a result, we have decided to eliminate “paid ads” on your widget.  We are no longer accepting new “paid ads” and any ads currently in the system will continue to run until they are completed.

Second, we have received many user requests to redeem credits for cash through the “credit cashout program.”  Some users have been paid while many users have not.  Since we are ending the “paid ads” program, we are also eliminating the “credit cashout program.”  As promised, we will continue to pay as many users as we can with the remaining funds from the “paid ads” system.   Within the next 3 days, we will distribute the remaining funds from the “paid ads” to users on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Once these funds run out, we will reissue credits back to those users who applied for the cashout program but did not receive money.  An email notification will be sent out to our users.

We understand that eliminating the “credit cashout program” may upset some users.  However, Entrecard is actively developing ways for Entrecard users to use, sell and trade their credits.  This is on the top of our priority list.

Once again, we feel that ending the “paid ads” and “cashout” program will benefit Entrecard and its users in the long run.  We understand what your concerns are and we intend to address them.  Thank you for being a valued member.  Stay tuned for updates.

Hello Entrecarders!

Written on July 17th, 2009 by Andrew

Hi everyone,

I would like to write on behalf of ZipRunner, Inc. to express our excitement about the future of Entrecard.  As an angel investor, I saw the potential in Entrecard a couple years ago.  I immediately recognized its uniqueness, its networking capabilities and its diverse user base, and became a board member of Entrecard when the company was 6 months old.  I truly believe Entrecard is the best networking platform for the blogging community and will continue to be a lead provider of blogging services for years to come.

Before I can begin to discuss the future of Entrecard, I would like to first express our gratitude to Graham Langdon, Founder of Entrecard.  Graham has done an excellent job managing Entrecard to where it is today.  It will be our duty to continue keeping users posted about changes to Entrecard and to continue providing Entrecard users with new services that will increase traffic to blogs.

I understand that there are many questions about the recent acquisition of Entrecard by ZipRunner.  ZipRunner is an investment company with many years of experience with Internet companies.  We intend to have a smooth transition and will continue to provide essential services such as dropping cards, earning credits and allowing bloggers to network.  We believe that these services are what make Entrecard special.  In addition, Entrecard will continue to have Richard Clark (phirate), Entrecard’s founding developer, on its management team.

Furthermore, ZipRunner is prepared to take Entrecard to the next level.  We have carefully read blog comments and the help desk to gain a better understanding of users’ concerns.  We value our Entrecard users and we intend to address your comments and to provide you with the best blogging service possible.

In closing, I would like to reiterate that ZipRunner is looking forward to working with Entrecard users and improving Entrecard services.  I only ask that you give us a chance and your patience.  Look for great things to follow in the coming weeks, and months.

Entrecard has been Acquired by Ziprunner

Written on July 16th, 2009 by Graham

Dear Entrecarders,

It is with great excitement that I announce Entrecard.com, Inc. has
been Acquired by ZipRunner Inc.

ZipRunner has the resources, vision, and dedication to Entrecard that
will allow it to grow in pursuit of the vision I laid out nearly two
years ago.

Moving forward, my relationship to Entrecard will be that of an
advisor, and I will help the good folks at ZipRunner take the whole
project to the next level.

ZipRunner Inc. was chosen out of a number of potential suitors because
of the resources they can dedicate to the project, their exciting
vision for the company’s future, and their understanding of social
media and the blogosphere.

I urge you all to look forward to a bigger, better Entrecard, and I
couldn’t be more proud to bring it to this point before passing the
torch. I’ve heard first hand all the great things that are in store
for the company and it’s members, and needless to say it has me quite
excited.

If you would like to keep in touch with me in the future, you can
find me at my new blog Ontrapranore.com where I look forward to
sharing my stories of entrepreneurship and starting/running internet
companies.

Whether you love or hate the decisions I’ve made for Entrecard in the
past, I always did the best I could to move the company forward given
the resources I had, and I always had the best interest of the members
in mind. Now, with new management and ownership stepping in, I urge
anyone who has left the service to give it another chance, and I urge
those who have been loyal members for days, weeks, months, or years to
look forward to a brighter future, a reliable and stable service, and
great new features and strategic direction.

Signing Off,

Graham Langdon

Outage

Written on July 15th, 2009 by phirate

Hey everyone, I apologize, we had an outage earlier today that lasted way longer than it should have, basically just because the database is so big now that it takes ages to move data around and clean it up in the face of an overload.

I’d explain more but it’s 6:28am and I’m dead tired, stuff should be ok now, I’ll get back with more details once I’ve had some sleep. Thanks everyone.
